Hey Charlie, I've not forgot about your racing exploits The past 12 months have kicked me around pretty good and I haven't had time to do anything but earn a little money and visit hospitals -- it's turning around now I think. Let me check on Jr.s weekend plans and we may just run down that way. I need to put some miles on the Uly anyway,,,gotta talk my wife in to Grandpa-sitting first,,,PM me a mobile number. G2 |

Thanks for the "heads-up" e-mail, LaFayette. I don't know if I can make it either day; I have commitments that may keep me from having fun w/u guys. The bestest & closest roads if you are north of Greenville SC are: Start the fun at the intersection of hwy's 11 & 178, just north of Pickens, SC. Take 178 thru Rosman (get gas there if you're low), then use hwy 64 to jag west maybe 1.5 miles to hwy 215. Then hold onto your arses and follow 215 north, cross under the Blue Ridge Parkway, and follow 215 down to the bottom of the mountain. You're at the end of the good part when you cross a bridge, pass the Sunburst campground, and the road straightens out. Turn around and repeat. Again & again. My back's been giving me trouble, so I took off the Crossroads handlbars and the Banke rearsets, & I'm back to OEM stuff. That's not so bad though since I got a 2003 GSX-R750 in February!! It's my track bike now. But the M2 is more fun on these back roads. I'm having to get used to sitting up-right again; I just can't lean it over as far! Call me at (828) 778 6145 when you head out of Columbia. I'd love to join you if I can. |

Buellistic, Cyclonecharlie, & Truk, Nice to meet all of you. I got back to Summerville about 6 PM. I took I-26 for about 20 miles out of Columbia until my "people driving like jackasses" tolerance level was reached, so I diverted over to SC 176, which is a pretty nice cruising road. Had a nice ride back; maintained 65-70 MPH most of the way with minimal traffic. It's always a pleasant "rush" to ride through ~10 degree cooler air in a swampy area on an ~80 degree day like this. The S3 never missed a beat. We'll have to do this again soon. |

Hey Guy's, Sure was glad to meet everybody. Had a great time Sat.,even though I may owe somebody a little grass seed. Although I'd never find my way back there. Truk, you sure know your way around Columbia, it was more fun than I'd had all year.My riding has really gotten rusty, need to do that more often. LaFayette, Special thanks for puting it all together. Had a great time........Charlie |

Gentlemen, My son and I had a terrific time on Saturday's ride with Buellistic, Truk, Cyclonecharlie. Wished we could have been there today but were too busy with family stuff but that was good too. Even though I live here I don't ride enough to find the good roads. My riding is to work mostly. Thanks guys. Let's do it more often!!! ....rcontroler |

Hey Truk, What was the name of that resturant you took us to? And can you access it from I 26 ? Was telling my wife about the place and she wants me to take her there( cage transport). But we don't want every body to find out how good it is. Really enjoyed the ride and the pace, but next time if you could get out there a day ahead and sweep the pee gravels off the corners I'd appreciate it.........Charlie |

Charlie - The name was Shealy's Rest, Hwy 1, Batesburg, SC. Coming up here from the LowCountry on I26, you would stay on I26 into Columbia, then take I20 West toward Augsuta / Atlanta. Next get off I20 at exit 39 which is Hwy 178 and go right to Batesburg (twin cities of Leesville - Batesburg). The road speed will slow down to 35mph when you get in the town limits. Then you come to a light which should be the intersection of Hwy 178 and Hwy 1. Make a right Hwy 1 (back East toward Columbia). Shealy's Rest will be on your right in about 3-5 miles You can also pick up the same Hwy 178 out of Orangeburg. It is a more direct route, but slower speed and might take longer. it is a two lane highway. take I26 to Hwy 301 toward Orangeburg. The take a right on Hwy 178 and follow signs thru Orangeburg to Batesburg Once out of Orangeburg the road is real pretty. I take the Mrs. this way on the Goldwing when we come to Chas. Makes for an enjoyable ride. Actually, Hwy 178 goes south east all the way into Summerville. You could pick it up there, but will add time to the trip slowing down through all the little towns. Remember to do that unless you want a ticket. I will try to remember to get out and sweep before you all come next time. Just glad for open cow pastures and your dirt tracking skills. Can not tell you how glad I was to see you motoring on after that off road exp. I know that corner is a bit tricky and i was keeping an eye on you all in my rear view. I saw you leave the raod in my rearview, which is why I turned around You can thank the SC DOT for the gravel. They love that pea gravel and soft tar. I keep wondering when SC residents are going to wise up and realize that all they are doing is whitewashing bad roads, resulting in cars getting pelted with loose stones (great for the paint)and creating much anxiety and off road experiences for us two wheelers. Don't foget to ask the waitress for a "Pulley Bone". PS - If your wife can handle it, there is a Triumph Dealer about a 3 blocks away from Shealy's on Hwy 23. Ridge Motorsports, Batesburg SC. Tell them I sent you. |

Guys, check your spam filters. I didn't see the e-mail from LaFayette in my "in" box, checked the spam box and there it was. Yahoo diverted it for some reason. LaFayette, thanks a lot for the list. Hopefully we can organize more meets soon. |

If possible, I would like to be included on the South Carolina email list. I would be very interested in getting together for a ride. Gets old riding 178 by yourself, more safety in numbers. Oh yeah, I live in Greer. If that’s okay? I read the XB board all the time and this is the first time I’ve been to Storm Fronts. Wow, what have I been missing? I have seen a Red XB12R riding around Paris Mountain. Is this anyone here? |
