its a good thing i didn't go with you guys. i had all kinds of problems sunday. my back rocker box seal is leaking. i have smoke coming out of my air filter. i think its from those breather tubes putting oil into the carb / airfilter but i really don't know and after you ride awhile i have a vibration in the foot pegs. feel like your running a weed eater with your feet. besides my bike being screawed how was the ride. |

Well everyone that was supposed to go from my town turned into a bunch of pussies and said it was to cold or to far or they were afraid of the rain or whatever other excuses they could come up with so myself my brother and my dad ended up riding about 200 miles saturday evening/night down around the river.but actually it was a very nice ride and i found a few nice roads that i had never been on.I had that vibration in the footpegs one time too,and believe it or not it was because of a pair of old michelin tires.if i rode for a little while and they got warmed up i would get that buzzing vibration on my feet through the pegs.I would have never guessed tires but when i changed the tires it went away.So instead of fixing 1 problem by changing the old tires i fixed 2 on accident.I have also noticed that when the pegs start to get worn out they will make a vibration like you are describing. |

no haven't checked out buell corners yet. i been trying to get my bike in to get the rocker box gaskets replaced. no room for the bike for 2 to 3 weeks.what a bunch of horse shit. im praying that smoke coming out of my air cleaner it was just a shoot of oil coming out of the breather hose. |

ceejay i appreciate the offer very much. if i were closer to you i'd buy you a keg and a couple of chickens to do it. but i checked on map quest and you over 3 hours away. i don't have the time be leaving for a day. my work would send the national guards looking for me. but beer and chicken wings thats way cheaper than the shop wants to do it. |

I have been reading the XBoard for a good long time...and I definitely think I'm an addict. Bought my 04 XB12R a month ago...and I absolutely love it. Just caught this this ohio thread. Anyone from NE ohio? Doesn't seem to be too many up this way. I'm just outside of Akron....heard that the Columbus area had a lot more going on. I'd like to meet some local people that share my addiction! |

we have another problem guys went to start my bike yesterday and it was running like shit. took it to my local shop. the mechanic that use to work on it was killed a few months back on a customers bike. well thay have a young kid straight out of school he is ama cert. so im sure hes ok but not alot of experiance. he seems to think i have a burnt valve. |

heres my question if it is a burnt valve what kind of price is that going to run me having a shop do it. im not a mechanic by no means. but im not convinced its a burnt valve. heres the symtoms when fired you have to keep on throttle to keep running. a little bit of smoke coming out of air filter. and sounds like its either pushing or sucking air from somewhere. |

hey rum first of all remember this that ama cert is basically the same thing you wipe your ass with.a piece of paper does not mean the guy knows what he is doing. That being said it does not mean he is wrong either. However your problem sounds more like an intake seal leaking to me.if you twist the throttle is it ok?start your bike and spray some carb cleaner back behind the carb toward the intake. If the motor changes rpm's then you have an intake leak(all evo motors are prone for this to happen eventually.the rubber seal is sandwiched between a tapered plate and the head.after so many years of the seal getting hot and cold it starts to fall apart.also go to the left side of the bike and spray toward the carb.there is another rubber seal that goes between the carb and intake.pull your plugs out and see what they look like.if you do have a burnt valve let me know the price that they give you and I may be able to help you save a couple bucks.we do all of our own machine work so i could help you out in that department.keep us informed |

scream would and intake seal cause smoke from the air filter. if i twist the throttle it runs but i still hear air and it will not idle for very long by its self before it dies out. i'll keep you informed. and thank you for the help. |

a cylinder head bolt was loose it rubbed a hole in rear rocker box. this is what the shop said i need cylinder head bolts & nuts, rear cylinder, rocker box, piston & rings, and all the seals and gaskets that goes along with this stuff. and they said they think the head is ok but not sure. and its going to be $700 just for parts. does this sound right. |

I dont know about all that rum!personally it sounds like a line of bullshit to me.Is your bike a 97 s1 that your profile shows? What kind of shop is it?(dealership or private shop)do they have much experience with harley motors?and why do you need a new rear cylinder? |

Rum, I think you better have someone else take a look first cause as sbolt said sounds like bs...got me a seat, but I don't like, did a real nice job just not what I asked them to do, thus I'm still shopping...but I can ride it at least. |
