Wow! A thread that's lonlier than the MT one. Somehow it's strangely comforting to know there's a group w/ less to say than me. |

I for one, would like to say that "Women Rawk". My mother was a woman...my wife is a woman...and indeed, my daughter will be a woman someday. I have always been in favor of women. |

Hey, glanced in here as I am trying to talk my wife into a Blast. She likes the Ninja 500R. It will be her first bike so I dont want her getting anything outrageous, hence no XB in her near future. I would love to have her on a Buell next to mine, so any encouragement you can give would be thankful. Larry |

Have her take The Rider's Edge at the H-D dealership. They use the Blast. After the class she might be very likely to want one. And the transition to her bike will be minimal. 'tis what I did and what my wife will be doing next week. |

I got my license in July of '04 I started on a Blast. I bought my '05 Lightning XB12Scg in April of this year. The Blast is a wonderful bike for her to learn on. If anything after she masters it she will quickly upgrade to a bigger bike. It was because of the Blast that I bought the Lightning. |

From what I understand, the newer Blasts 04 to present are reliable starting bikes. The Ninja 500 is nice too and learning a few maintenance to-do's never hurts for new riders. I learned on an 81 Yamaha 400 and while temparmental, dealing with chains certainly reinforced my appreciation for belt driven machines Hello to Blastgirl - the XB12Scg is indeed a lovely machine |

I think 2002 and later are reliable. (We have an '02 with no problems not caused by the previous owner.) |

My Blast is an 2001, that I bought used and I haven't had any problems with it. I added a tach and a new exhaust. For a small bike it sounded mean and with the custom dash it looked sweet. |

Thanks for the Info,Blastgirl! I put a new (bigger) Intake and re-jetted the Carb, now it seems to hit the rev-limiter fast! I really need the Tach! Thanks Again! |

Does anyone have a suggestion for boots for women that come in a wide size? They don't necessarily have to be women's boots, they just need to fit a woman's feet. - Posted as anonymous because the female in question doesn't want to advertise her wide feet. |

Harley-Davidson boots (especially the lace-up styles) Check Red Wing, they make tons of MC boots in all sizes. I think my Buell boots are D or E width... |

I started on a Blast in August of 2000 and took it on the California Adventure Tour from San Diego to Eureka (the long way). I put a Vance & Hines exhaust and K&N filter and jet kit on it. My second bike was a Harley Softail with a Street Stalker conversion. My third bike was an S3-T. My fourth bike was an XB9S Low in March of 2003. I had all four in the garage (much to my husband's dismay). I discovered that I never rode anything but the Lightning and sold off all the rest. Starting on the Blast was the best decision I made. |

My husband gave my a Blast for X-mas last year..I did the MSF course this spring, and absolutely LOVE riding my Blast around. What a fun bike to start on. I've done lots of custom stuff on it..so I'm reluctant to trade it in for a Lightening..but I think by next year I'll be ready to move up. |

Nitaw, My husband had done the same for me. Bought me a purple blast for Xmas2003 and took the class in 2004. I loved the blast after 1 1/2 "riding" seasons I traded mine in to Dave S. this past July and got a new XB9S....best decision I think I ever made. I was hesistant but a lot of girls in the club I was in rode XB's and swore by them. I am glad I took the advice of many!! I love it !!! |

I've been riding a Blast for the past 2 years. Tried on an XB12Scg and it fit like a glove. My only concern is the clutch effort. Seems like a long reach and VERY stiff lever on this bike. Any one else have this concern or issue? I really want the bike but don't want this to be a safety issue in traffic. Maybe I have a wimpy left or maybe you guys had the clutch lever replaced with one of those 'easy clutch' thingies? |

Eggeblast, I just got my XB12Scg this summer at Kegels. They loosen the clutch and the brake levers. So maybe you could ask your dealership if that might help you. Those Buells just ride like the wind. |

New Buell girl here - I went with my husband yesterday afternoon to pick up my new 06 CityX (we picked it up with the truck). I haven't ridden it yet, but planning my first ride this weekend. I had initially thought I wanted the lower Scg, but I recently rode both bikes back-to-back at a dealer demo event, and once I rode the CityX, I knew that was the bike for me. I have the low seat on order and it should be here soon. Ride safe - Cindy |
