The mailman brought two pieces of good news today! My motorcycle insurance has gone down $250. Now I'm paying $1800 for full coverage on the Buell. I still think that's a little steep for having a clean driving record, but Primmium says Buell's are in a "special" classification. I don't feel too "special" when I write the cheque??!! I also recieved my Mosport registration conformation. I'll be number 967 in the RED (fast touring) class. Wahoo! The DOCC is really stressing back protectors in the newsletter, I ordered one a few weeks ago, it comes in Monday next week. Kahuna, later in the season is good for me too, prolly' early August is best for me. |

I'd be interested in the track time idea Caboose. I'd be even more interested in getting enough guys together for a full day's session. Any idea what the total cost of that would be? I think it'd be possible to get enough guys together to make it feasible to do an entire day. Ideas? Lornce |

I have thought about promoting a trackday myself, but its a gamble at best. Here is the breakdown on costs: Weekday rental of the "Raceway Circuit" is $2800 Weekend rental othe the "Raceway Circuit" is $4000 Ambulance cost is $33 per hour Insurance cost - if there are six rider's or less on the track at once $0.00...more than that, unknown but I'll guess at $700???(to keep the cost down only six of us went last year) So a weekday rental.....your looking at about $3800 + tax, to make it affordable we need to gather 32 riders each paying $135. For a weekend rental we'll need 42 riders paying $135 each. Any more cash than that is too much. A typical trackday cost around $110 and you get 6-8 twenty minute sessions. We could run two groups and $135 is not un-reasonable for the added track time. Otherwise its $300 per hour, two hour minimum plus ambulance, insurance (if needed) and taxes. Go to http://www.torontomotorsportspark.com/ for more details. |

The ice racing today was AMAZING! There were 40+ bikes ranging from a Yamaha PW50 to a tricked out Honda CR500. I need to start ice racing. The bikes are vertical maybe 20% of the time. The rest of the time its rear tire kicked out, bike leaned WAY over and foot down. Aparently the philosiphy of low rotating mass does not apply to most of these guys. Most of them were running a street tire inside of the dirt tire to help stabilize and secure the studs. |

Take any digipics Caboose? It'd be cool to see any if you did. Spent the afternoon in a buddy's garage. Bino brought home his new to him '98 Triumph Speed Triple while we messed with Craig's old Yamaha. It puked fuel through it's leaking petcock to the carbs to the airbox to the crank case. What a mess. Drained the oil out, it looked and smelled like premix. Got it sorted and it fired right up like a champ. Not bad for a 22 year old abused rat bike. Fit and finish on the Triumph were amazing. Really nice attentions to detail. Very Honda-like. First time I've ever looked closely at one. Footpegs and control levers beautifully cast, nicely formed alloy heel gaurds.... Frame appeared to be large cross section cast aluminum 'tubes' welded together and finished with a high quality clear coat. No idea of the frame's weight, or production cost, but the result looked impressive. Triple clamps had similar clearcoat finish and nicely machined top surfaces. Would be interested to see scale drawings of the rear suspension linkage: it's action was supple through it's entire motion. Look forward to riding it. Everything I've read raves about it's handling and road holding. -8c and a quick trundle on the bucking barking S1 was the cap on a great mid-winter Canadian moto afternoon. That throaty solid acceleration felt good. Haven't piloted anything more potent than a Saturn since early November. I needed that. I hate winter, Lornce |

99X1, Just wondering if your X1 has the original ECM. The 99' models ECM had to be "re-mapped" or replaced. If your bike is still using the original ECM / map this could explain the symtoms you were describing on Saturday. |

I think it has the orginal ecm, but has the latest (?) mapping - 06. You actually have power below 3000 rpm? Geez, maybe I'll have to get a race ecm.... It's good putting a face to someone on the list; (other then Lawrence...) John |

Oh man, and like I went SO out of my way to be there to meet you too! Errrmn, actually had to go into work myself yesterday. 15 or more people showed and all had fun kicking a few tires and shooting the breeze, but unfortunately, not a whole lot of mechanical activity. The weather kept a few projects from being trailered to Paul's and I had to postpone guides and valve jobs on three sets of heads until next weekend. Maybe next time? Lornce |

99x1, I've got a dyno run archived somewhere here. I'll try to find it. With my X1 all it takes is a blip of the throttle at 2000RPM and the front goes skyward. The race ECM will give you more mid-range power and it will also cure a lot of the stumbles and stutters in 0 to 3000 RPM area. I'm thinking about having the "Techlusion" TFi control box http://www.techlusion.com/zIntro.htm to smooth things out even more. |

....trying to link directly to the message....not having much luck. Anywho, my dyno run can be found in the "Knowledge Vault" under "Dyno Charts with lists of Mod's", archived May 28 2002. |

Lornce, Are you still looking for an exhaust system for your S3T? I've got the stock headers and muffler from my X1 hanging in my garage. I don't need the race header / muffler you are offering in trade. Perhaps a suitable amount of cash could persuade me to sell them to you? |

Caboose, Huh? I've already got a stock system on the S3T. I'm looking for a race pipe and some sort'a snorty intake. Lornce |
