This is unreal. I think someone or something doesn't like Fuddruckers. Had the X1 for 2 years now, it's been pretty rock solid transportation, today, just a couple hundred miles into the new head gaskets, it broke. Bad. Ugly knock. Not happy. Oh, well, I was wondering if I could run bigger jugs on it.... I'll be there on the 'Bolt tonight, I want you guys to see it. Clif |

Where's the knock coming from? If it's from the left side, could be the compensator sprocket nut. Otherwise, it may be out of time. Especially if you just did the top end. |

Don't think so, been about 200 miles since the top end, running excellent. Did the same crap I did last time, missed a shift to second, hit the limiter, tried to punch it in and go, hit the limiter again, this time, loud knocking right after this, about 100 yards later, cough sputter, quit.

Torq got his break in. 2 more Lightnings showed, but the owners never even said hi. Seemed on their own, but I might have misread it. One selling his 9s, the other on a tuber. It was real clean, like mine, showed well, I think. Sorry, stretch, didn't read this till Saturday morning. Clif |

No problem. I figured your right wrists were at fault. Got the front head on the X1 down to the last 4 bolts, no culprit, yet. I'll keep you up to date. Clif |

Been slow for 2 days, doing other things. Promise to see both pistons tonight, I'll give an update. Don't think it will be good. Warned the wife today, seen "kits" which will fix it at about $1700... Can we say big bore???? Clif |

Sorry I didn't make it tonight. I was overwhelmed with things I had to do. By the time I figured out what day it was, I had already missed an appt. at HD to get the bike timing set. Been feeling a little under the weather. ANyways, no promises on tomorrow night either, but I will be in touch. Stretch |

10 hrs and three trips to Home Depot later, and I finally got the toilet fixed. Had the shower fixtures out too, but unfortunately for me, there were no replacements to be had at Home Depot. Finally knocked off at 12 midnight. Can't believe it took as long as it did. The worst of it was, I changed out all of the tank internals, because it wouldn't stop running, and was costing me a fortune. So when I put the new one it, guess what? It wouldn't stop running either. SO I am getting really pissed off. COme to find out, the darn chain was hanging so low it was getting sucked into the flapper. Only thing broke now is the freaking water filter, which I tightened down without the gasket in it. Probably have to have that changed now too. Can't win. Stretch 03 FLHRCI ** 05 XB12S

Getting real close. Anyone else going to homecoming? Torn down to pistons. No culprit. Thought for sure I'd find a valve bent. Oh, well, I can't wait to see what I find down below. Clif (Message edited by Sflabuell on May 26, 2006) |

M2m2 sorry for not answering,I don't have internet service @ home currently and only communicate from work;and just so happened to be off wednesday and thursday. I did make it to both shows, but as everyone probably guessed they were both wet days! the drizzle @ Hooters never stopped when I was there between 8:30 and 10.the rain down south on thursday stopped @6pm and it stayed dry but crowds were minimal. @ Fudd's another XB9R showed-a white 03 I haven't seen before who lives in the Redlands-spoke with her for a while and we'll probably see her again in the future. Stretch, hope you're feeling better and the home repairs are going better for you also. Sflabuell, any idea's what's up with the X1 yet? When's homecoming again? and what are your plans for it? goin' home--type more tomorrow! |

Homecoming is June 2-4 in Wisconsin. If you're not already in, it is probably too late. If you check the Homecoming thread it has been very active. Lots of good info for a great weekend. As above, down to both pistons, no culprit. Looks ugly though, can both pistons in a twin be at the bottom of the stroke Haven't been this deep into a V-Twin before, but I don't figure this looks good. Heavy drinking can't help...then again, can't hurt.... |

that looks like a Guiness and if it is it definitely won't hurt! I also have never been to the bottom of a v-twin but both pistons @ bdc doesn't sound good--do they move when you spin the crank? sounds like it's time for a 1450 kit--hehe! I assume your going to homecoming-obviously I won't make it;but Sturgis and Biketoberfest are looking pretty good. be sure to pillage the Buell and Brag booths well and return with plenty of keepsakes! take lots of pictures too |

where did you go?--missed ya @ Fudd's; got some new bars for the Scg-MSR black powdercoated motorcross bars--WOW what a difference in ride comfort- arms in more relaxed position, less fatigue to the hands also--if I make it to Fudd's this week it'll be after 9:30 or so--have to work. |

I'll try to wrestle the 9R off of my son and make Thursday. Homecoming was awesome. Got to meet Dave S. (Appleton's HD) and Erik. Pics of many awesome Buells. Not much, but I did get some goodies I will share (most I'm keeping, no surprise!). We all need to plan out next year. I don't want to miss it, now that I've seen it. It was very good, and IF I had a Buell there, it would have been even better. The roads are fantastik. How can Wisconsin make super smooth roads and Florida with NO Frost heave, can't. I didn't feel it, maybe it was still frozen... Bubba Blackwell was awesome at Uke's on Sunday and real down to earth and friendly. All in all, what a weekend. |

OK, throw my hat in, prefer Monday, I think, but either is open right now. I was at Fuddrucker's, but with the impending showers, turnout was the lowest I've seen. There were that many Buells at Homecoming... :-) The X1 is still in pieces, I'll arrange the 9R for the night. You should have seen the S2 White lightning in the Appleton store. Excellent machine, asking only $4K, also. Fought spending the money very hard. |
