hey C3ers, Just got an '03 XB9R early this week and found a link to hear somewhere. Anyone around raleigh go riding for no reason on a regular basis? I'm pretty new to the whole motorcycle thing and want to get some more miles under my belt. I think I remember seeing somewhere that someone liver near the kmart on western, thats like 5 minutes from my place off kaplan. Anyways, if anyone around checks this on a regular basis let me know, I think I'm going to go ride somewhere... not sure where to go in raleigh though where I won't get smushed by giant SUV's, so if anyone has tips and doesn't ride often lemme know that too :-P |

Wes! It's good to meet you! You're my neighbor. I live on Deboy St, which is the road that runs from the top of the Melborne Rd exit, over to Western Blvd. I know lots of good roads to ride on. Most of them are south of Raleigh. Come over some time and I'll show you. Free tomorrow morning? |

}A new toy arrived yesterday: cool Jim....i might like to have some of those, as I usually let air out instead of just "checking" the pressure ...would be helpful to someone like me....I hate to check them because I know I'll need to add air after "checking"... |

hey, sorry about not responding earlier, I accidently dropped my bike last night when someone tried to occupy the same spot I was going to and broke off a peg(luckily it dropped gently so that was pretty much the extent of it, couldn't find a single scratch on the paint :-D), so I got to meet the people at ray price today. Seems like a pretty decent dealer. I should be free tomorrow evening after maybe 5 or 6, or if that doesn't work any time after 5 during the week would be great. |

they didn't have a stock peg in, and apparantly they can't move a back peg to the front while you wait, so the one dude they have that knows anything about buells managed to dig up a pair of 'high traction' pegs. Guess its my first mod.... He also said he was going to somewhere called deals gap next month, wonder if he ever visits this site, I think I saw that mentioned somewhere. I think he mentioned have a 9R or 12R, not sure which |

You talked with Mike. Deals Gap is mountain pass with a famous road that runs from NC into TN. http://www.dealsgap.com/ It's a fun ride. I went for my first time on Thursday. I'll be going back. |

I wonder what weekend Michael is going to Deals Gap. I rode about thirty miles one Friday around here and that is all for a second weekend. I am starting to go into DTs due to the withdrawal from not being able to ride. Tomorrow I have drive the cage to the mountains and I hope I can handle seeing those roads and being in a 2-1/2 ton barge. Also: Happy Father's Day |

Glenn (Xb9ser), E-mail sent about an hour ago regarding Smoke Out. My plan is to leave early (for me) Friday a.m. Depending on the weather forecast I will either have fun or be bored to death. Good weather I will have fun (relatively) and take the 'backroads' through Fayetteville (cross country in other words) or if the weather is bad I will super slab it all the way there (bored to death option). U4euh, If I go through Fayetteville, I'm sure we can figure out someplace to meet up. As for the pressure indicating valve stem caps, I've been running them for approx. 5 years now. Since I bought them at an auto parts store I originally had 4 of each pressure (for tube framed Buell's the recommended tire pressure was 32 front, 36 rear). I used one 'set' on my S2 and sold 2 'sets' on ebay. This means I still have one 'set' that is not being used. If anyone is interested in them, let me know and I'm sure we can work something out - hell, I work on tube framed Buell's for dinner and beer... Again, they are 32 psi and 36 psi - perfect for tube framed twins, but I'm not sure about the tire pressures of those newer-fangled XB thingies. Today was a very BIG day! I was finally able to order the parts I need to get S2 #1313 back on the road to terrorize the twisties. The .020" over Thunderstorm pistons are obsolete, and Daves found a dealer in NJ that had one. Since I need 2, I was forced to go with Wiseco. I sure hope they work as well as the OE .010" over pistons that I have been running for over 71,000 miles (that you can still read the part numbers and the .010 designation on). This is the rear one here:
Hopefully shortly after the Smoke Out I will receive a nice package of goodies on my doorstep. I will still have to figure out who will be boring out my cylinders, but this may be already decided. Just in case though, does anyone have any recommendations for cylinder boring? Black_sunshine, RZ and Godsmack together should really kick arse! Dang it! August 30th is a Wednesday. I'm sure that I don't have the vacation left to support that. What really SUCKS is the only date in NC is in Charlotte 8/31 which is about 5 hours away from where I 'live'. I noticed a while back that RZ will be in Wichita on July 9th. But what really, really sucks is that ain't gonna be the possibility that I was hoping it would be. 1313 |

Too bad it doesn't say Buell...Although it is only a small photoshop away... BTW, it doesn't get you out of a ticket (at least from my experiences). 1313 |

Glenn - do you have floor space for Carlos for the Smokeout? If he doesn't get out of here next weekend on the bike, I think he may go crazy! Sounds like the party may be at your house. |

Jim N, Have you forgotten the lovely rust preventative that Brankin gave us on the way down to Daytona? Brankin - I can not take the whole day off Friday but can leave early to mid afternoon if you want to ride together. I plan to take the M2. It has been ignored for the last couple of weeks and I have been itching to take it out on a trip. It is also more Harleyish with its louder exhaust and single head light and all. I just need to change the fluids and filter and get a neat catch can like the one Dave put on it and I am ready to go. |
