By the way, if our own Matty may be at Willow on the 16th and if possible to swing it, what do you think about a change from a LONG day in the saddle to do a little afternoon spectating? This is going to be on the BIG track. Could be kinda interesting. Don't know what times which classes are scheduled on the track. I can look into that (or maybe Matty could post that info here) I don't know if they are riding lae enough in the afternoon that we can get a ride in after lunch at Newcombs and then maybe stop in at Willow. Maybe shift to "brunch" at Newcombs, do a canyon run then out to Willow to watch. Of course, if Matty aint racin' - ain't no point in us spectatin' because he'll probably be riding with us riff-raff. |

Went to Newcomb's for lunch and as expected, there were a couple places in the shade with ice still frozen from the run-off. Ice was only in one spot (on ACH about a mile uphill from UBT intersection) but it kept me slowed down just out of caution. Just be careful if you are heading up the hill. |

If you are crazy enough to start early... Steve, i am that crazy and THEN some! Ferris, you have pics of your bikes posted somewhere here??? sorry, the best i can do ya for right now is a shot of my VFR on CycleTrader (be sure to click on the pic). ...Maybe shift to "brunch" at Newcombs, do a canyon run then out to Willow to watch Matty... sounds great, plus it puts me a little closer to home at day's end, minimizing dark riding (which i hate with a passion!) what a glorious day up here in the Valley today, warm and clear and oh-so-suh-weet! rode up-river with a friend, had the road pretty much to ourselves, felt good to be alive FB |

Ferris, Ebear came to the last SCAB meeting on his bumble bee X1 a few weeks ago, but was still in an immobilizing boot (brake foot). On the ACH ride, the photographer certainly had something to do with Jose's little off road excursion. But sad to say, so did I. He was on my tail, I'd stayed on the gas for that photographer, and completely blew the line on that corner due to the mud that was on the road near the shoulder. I successfully dog legged the corner and missed the mud (barely), but Jose followed me right into it. Yea, I know, everyone is responsible for their own corner speed, but I certainly didn't help him execute that corner cleanly. That day was full of great roads, even if they were the third string roads due to snow. I'd like to do the first stringers some day. What are your laguna seca plans? When are you heading up? Al |

Ferris (et al), Let's see if Matty can chew through his restraints and race. I can find out what times he is going to be racing - when the finals are at least and we can structure the ride around that. (don't know if he monitors this here board on a daily basis) I agree that finishing the ride at Willow makes for a casual day and then Ferris won't have so far to go in the dark. I also agree, I don't care for riding more than I have to in the dark or in the rain. I guess we need to find out the Sunday race schedule before we put a lock on the ride routing/planning but I am not against spending some time trackside on the 16th. Whattya say? |

Since we may go by Willow Springs for a bit perhaps it makes more sense to do a late breakfast at Harley's Rock Inn in Lake Hughes? Then run by Willow and see what's up? Do they race in the morning or afternoon? Mapquest advises that it's 155 miles from SB to Willow Springs. Since we're doing this on a Sunday I need to back in SB by 5pm for my evening commute to Vegas (where I work - don't ask). I think we need to figure out Willow first and then arrive at a plan. |

Jim/Ferris, I have e-mailed Chris (Matty) about schedule asking for times of the different semis and finals. Harley's is a good rendezvous. If he can make it, James looks to be coming over the hill from Chino. We'll never be able to totally get all our schedules cleanly overlapping. Even if Tim and Candice can't make a ride, I bet they can be coerced into coming out trackside (if they aren't already there). |

Here is the race schedule for Sunday, 16th at Willow. I think Matty is in Open Heavyweight Novice... but I'd have to hear it from him. This schedule is just the sequence of races, obviously exact schedule is depending on track conditions and other issues. WSMC is going to eventually get it posted on their website sometime within the coming week but for now, I thought I'd beat it into the keyboard. Looks like afternoon is going to be a good show. 1 California Race Tire Services Formula Twins (1st wave), Roadracingworld.com 250 GP and 125 GP (2nd wave) 2 Open Superstock (1st wave) / 750 Modified Production (2nd wave) 3 Aprilia Challenge (1st wave) / Vintage Heavyweight (2nd wave) / BOTT Lightweight (3rd wave) 4 Sport Tire Services F-40 Heavyweight (1st wave) / F-40 Lightweight (2nd wave) / F-50 (3rd Wave) 5 BOTT Middleweight (1st wave) / Vintage Lightweight (2nd wave) 6 Pacific Track Time BOTT Heavyweight (1st wave) / 500 Mod. What are your laguna seca plans? When are you heading up? Al, i'm planning on arriving in Monterey on Friday night, and departing Monday morning for Four-Play. other than that, my only plan for the weekend is to get a whole buncha motorcycles on me! glad to hear that EBear is still in the mix -- i wonder if it'd hurt his ankle too bad to pop on here and say "Hello!" once in awhile??? I think we need to figure out Willow first and then arrive at a plan. sounds like a great, um, er, plan! i know a couple other Hooligans who'll be racing there that day as well. FB |

Steve, thanks for the consideration of making this a "casual" ride and getting everyone home at a respectable hour. i'm not much for cattle-punching even in the daylite up on Ferris Trail, and in the dark it becomes downright spooky trying to spot all those future Big Macs in the dark. the days are getting noticeably longer, and warmer, and soon we can plan for gigs that last much longer into the afternoon/evening and still take everyone's ride home into account. spoke with Don Sabaleano, Firebolt Flogger on the phone tonight -- he can't do the 16th due to family obligations that day, but he's way pumped about all the recent talk of rides in and about the ACH, as it keeps him within easy striking distance of his home in Moreno Valley. ride to ride, FB |

Ferris, Might make the most sense to just keep it really simple, a social breakfast/coffee at Harley's, a short ride and then hang out at Willow. That way you/Jim can depart when it is convenient - rather than being way out in the mountains somewhere. Even if Matty isn't doing the race, I'll bet it's still a fun thing to watch. Still haven't heard from him yet about his preferences. Talk to your friend, Dan about the Golden State BRAG Daytona party at Tim and Candice's place this Sunday, starting at 0900 (unless he's doing one of the others already). You/he can email them for specifics timandcan@msn.com they can give you specific street directions on how to get there or I can scan in and email their flyer - including a couple suggested routes up over the hill to their place. Can't miss their place when you get there, it'll be the one with all the Buells in front and the giant screen in the Garage. |

Sounds like Tim and Candice are up for Breakfast at Harleys and spectating at trackside on 16th. It is easy for us to meet at Harleys, it is a 15 min ride. Whatever time would work for you all will be really easy for us and Ferris, I can certainly meet you in the hills for a downhill run to Harley's for the breakfast and detailed route planning - unless we all agree on a route and schedule before that. The only problem with the Harley's breakfast is that if James comes out from Chino Hills, it is a long haul for him, too. We'll see what his take is on it. Steve |

Hey guys, I'm not sure where Harley's is. Sounds like it's out towards Lancaster area. I'll be coming from the Long Beach area so it may be a day on the slab for me, but hey, I like it out at the track so I'm all for going there. Especially if Matty's going to be competing. Timbo |

Ok, After taking a look at a map it looks like I could take Lake Hughes Road from off of the 5 to get to Harley's. It is near Lake Hughes, right? Let me know if that would be good way to go, or if anyone knows if that road is open. Jim, wadda you think? Timbo |

Just heard from Matty - he is not yet sure if he will be racing yet but he is in Middleweight novice. Normally he said the Heavyweights run at the end of the day. The schedule I posted was faxed to me Monday from Kenneth at WSMC so I assume it is current. Will post if I get any updates. Steve |

Hi Timbo, You're right on, Bud! Lake Hughes Road darn near runs smack into Harley's Rock Inn. When LHR dead ends (in Lake Hughes) make a right turn and go about a half mile or less and you'll see Harley's Rock Inn on the left. It's the only prominent stone building in town. You can't miss it. Plus Lake Hughes Road is fun. Yes, it will be open. As for me, rather than slab the whole way I'm thinking of heading to Ojai, North on the 33 then East on Lockwood Valley. From Frazier Park I'll do the N2 down to Lake Elizabeth Road to Lake Hughes. Pretty much the same route we take on our annual Turkey Twisty Treat ride. Next up we need to figure what time we need to be Harley's. Then we can work backwards and determine timing. |

Slaughter, So Matty's in Middleweight Novice. Roughly what time does that mean he'll be riding? |

Jim, IF (still a big IF) he is riding, that puts him last race of the day. Unfortunately, that is impossible to schedule within an hour but if we are trackside at 2, I think that'll get us there for warmups, BS and watch a couple other groups. I'll just email him to see what time he thinks would be good to be trackside. When I called WSMC, I was advised that the only race with a predictable start time is the first race. There are always delays, re-starts... all that makes times sorta unpredictable as the day goes on. I'll see what Matty's recommendation is for trackside arrival. All that being said, just watching the races is pretty cool way to spend a couple hours |

Last month I left Willow after 4:00pm and I didn't see the last three or four races. Jim_Sb if you are planning on being home by 5pm, you will not be able to see Matty race (if he's racing) Haley's will be an ok starting point. It looks like a good ride for me, 210 fwy to ACH to AFH to Sierra highway to Elizabeth lake road, about 100 miles. I can meet up with people coming from the south at Glendale HD, if anyone wants to tag along. I'll be taking the same route to Tim and Candice's if anyone wants to meet up this Sunday. James |
