I bought a XL and XXL to make sure that one would fit. I prefer the fit of the XXL a little better, so I have a XL that's up for grabs. I'd have to go through the numbers, but in total for 2 shirts I think I spent about $40. No Gramps was home :-( Thats also the point I discovered that I didn't have my drivers license with me. I wouldn't have been going 80 down US-1 if I'd know that. What exactly happens to you if you get stopped w/o a license? But who knows. From the XB Board: I picked up my Bike this morning and had a Bill of $72.Took it in due to the extreme and I mean very extreme knocking when the engine was hot. Said it was a maitanance problem not a factory problem, complained about this from the beginning, but didn't want to leave it for a week, then when it got cold the ignition retarded and it ran pretty good, then a couple weeks ago when it got really warm I thought the engine was coming apart. After talking to the mechanics and badweb, I figured it was covered under the warranty. Wrong. Then I am told that this has to be adjusted regularly and I am like "you mean that it has a built in money maker for the dealers?" or I have to learn to and buy the equipment to set the timing. He said the factory sets it according to the EPA and not so that it actually doesn't sound like I have pieces slapping around in the Engine. Why not check the spec's on www.buell.com? Hope everyone is well, Little chilly as I rode home without much gear tonight. Well, right after writing that I got a call that my Dad had been taken by ambulance to the hospital about 75 miles from here. So I hopped on my bike and rode to the hospital(turns out he may have had a minor heart attack-imagine my suprise when I found out he had a heart) but I digress, anyway he was resting and asked If I could run and get his glasses..No Problem. They were on his Ultra Classic that had been entered in a bike show at a HD bar. I got stares, everyone stopped to look at my bike. Anyway figured I would show off a little got into it hard leaving, 1st gear, front wheel off the ground-no suprise. 2nd gear, wheel off the ground,had to slightly check up as it continued skyward-was thinking that was unusually easy. 3rd gear, wheel comes up...now thats rare and had to ease up there to. Now 4th gear and the wheel came up, I have never had that happen. Now my bike is 100% stock, do you mean to tell me that Buell has detuned them by that much? Mikw W. called me Friday night to see if I wanted to ride with him to 'turn in the Springer'. Sure but I have a bald rear(insert joke here). Ride my Buell he says. So after some pleading with Tonya(it is her weekend off) she said to go have fun( what a gal)! We have a nice brisk ride down to Mathews and arrive at the Euro dealer. Mike is inside signing the paper work, and I am drooling over the old machinery that keeps showing up: Very interesting looking bike this was. Twin cylinder with an outragous redline: Then Mike hopped on his new bike: I thought 'wow that is very different bike' but then again, if you look back over the bikes he has had, there all different, in every sense!! The most interesting thing was the view from the front: Mike calls it Cyclops, but they are very bright and very cool looking! Well it obviously has a bigger tank than the Buell (5.6 gallons!) JimN- we found a really cool gravel/dirt road: @ 30MPH, it took about 30min to ride. Two up is really comfortable. My boy says it has more room that my old huge blue BMW. I thinks it's because I'm leaned forward on this one while the passenger is leaned back against the backrest. No helmet knocking. He says the following after one ride today. O.k. Dad, here's this summer's ride schedule: Beach trip to go deep sea fishing; Deals Gap and the mountains; and, Great dismal swamp camping. I like the way he thinks. This bike really wants to fly.   1313 Posted on Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 09:37 pm:        Rubberdown, Congrats on the new bike! Looks like the BMW beat out the thought of a Street Rod... I was amazed to find this for sale in New Bern this weekend. The VIN on the dash signifies that it is a real Gran Sport (in 1971 the VIN 43437 could be any GS - 350, 455, or 455 Stage 1), and the H in the VIN signifies that it was built in Flint, Michigan (where all Stage 1's were built), but in order to verify that it is an original Stage 1 car quite a few casting and stamping numbers would have to be checked. As the emblem pic kind of alludes to it is a nice 50 footer, but if one is serious about it a little work would be needed to make it REAL nice. I'm not in the market for one, but it reminded me of my 1970 that is still sitting on jack stands in my parents garage...because I bought my S2 as a graduation present to myself in 1995... So is this the "Slower Bike" to keep you out of trouble, or after running 100mph all the way home from Dayton on the Springer you decided to kick that idea to the curb? I'm playing catch up. I just got back from helping Dave move to Indiana. On Saturday, I drove his Jeep with my bike on his trailer up there, off loaded the bike and rode to my Mom's in Cincinnati. Sunday morning I pulled out of Cincy at 9:45am. I rode my usual route home until I crossed into West Virginia. On mile marker one, I pulled off of I-64 and turned onto US-52 and drove two-lane mountain roads all the way across West Virginia. I made it into Virginia via the old US-52 pass its now called WV-598. When I got to the top of the pass, I found the prettiest view I have ever seen in the Appalachian Mountains. There are two mountain ridges with a valley in between that goes on for miles. It was awesome. I had the Camera, but the batteries were dead so I could not take pictures. The mountain passes were very technical and a little scary because it rained the day before and there was gravel out on the road in spots. In Virginia I end up getting lost. I popped out in a town that I did not expect. When I got to a major intersection, all the State Routes were posted with directions, but no US-52. I tried to find my way via line of sight and soon realized I was heading South-west instead of south-east. I pulled over, pulled out a map and realized that I was off course by 23 miles to the west. I decide it was time to quit playing in the mountains so I chart a direct route back to I-81 in Marion VA. If you think there can be a road that can rival the Dragon, well, I found it. It is not as constant as the Dragon, and some section of the road are not as well maintained, but it goes on for 25 miles, and the technical sections make the Dragon look like a bunch of sweepers. VA-16 from US-19 to Marion VA is absolutely an awesome road. I turned on to it and at first I thought I was going to make some time. As I am enjoying some elevation changes and nice turns through mountain farm land, I see a mountain ridge in front of me. As I approach it, I see a guard rail twisting all over the side of the ridge above me. It does not take me long to figure out that I was not done playing in the Mountains. Talk about saving the best for last. I think there were four mountain passes in twenty miles. One you literally zig zag all the way up one side of the mountain, cut through a man made opening at the top to a Z-curve (like an S-Curve with out the arc) and zig zag back down the other side. I have never made so many 180-degree turns. Several motorcycles passed me so it seems to be a very well known route by the locals. To sum it up, I pulled off the Interstate at 1pm up by Huntington WV and popped back out on the Interstate near Wytheville VA at 6:30pm. I hauled ass home. I made it from 23 miles west of Wytheville VA to the house in 4 hours and 15 minutes at an average speed of 69 miles per hour. That includes stopping for gas in Durham NC and the back roads from the highway to the house where I had to stop twice for Deer in the road. Set a few personal best for me. In the mountains the Uly got right at 50mpg. I rode 204.9 miles without getting off the seat. At an average speed through West Virginia mountain roads of 50 mph, I was on the bike for four hours straight. I did have to stop at a couple of stop lights so I was able to put my feet down a couple of times. On the ride back via the interstate I rode non-stop 187.2 miles. The bike took 4.21 gallons. You can figure out how much gas I had left (29.3 miles on the reserve). I did take some pictures of VA-16 with my Cell Phone. If I ever figure out a way to off load the pictures, I'll share them.   U4euh Posted on Monday, May 01, 2006 - 07:07 am:        1313-yea, the kid and car side of me want to go see that movie. I had a 76 Nova that I built up. 327 with B&M speed shift, 278 lift cam, 3000 stall convertor, Edlebrock....yadayada. Stripped the interior to put the Leather in from a late 80's Volvo. If I can get the pictures converted to digital I'll post them. It wasn't the fastest thing out there, but man it was fun! I'd love to get another old car if I had the money. M2-sounds like getting lost helped you enjoy the ride. I need to make a call to AL, it may be worth the time, unless there is a major problem or change the comms ecm to world do not chnage much in industrial applications. I haven't changed the oil in anything myself since the mid 1980s when it became socially unacceptable to dump it into the Cheesapeak Bay (yes I really did that) or throw it in the trash. I thought I'd tell a story as it drips out. I took the Blast out tonight. As soon as I pulled out onto the street the bike died and I could not get it started again. What is wrong with this POS I though. I push it back into the driveway. Check the fuel it's on. Check the sidestand switch. Rotate the Fuel petcock. Try putting the fuel on reserve. Check the boot. Finally it runs for almost a second and cuts off. Then I get it started. Now its running fine. I've no idea what happened. So I pull out onto us-1. I see a bike ahead of me, and I decide to see if he wants to ride with me. I've got the Blast up at 85 mph chasing this guy, and I see him pull off at the Holly Spring exit. Thats almost a 10 mile chase. I pull up next to him and OMG, it's a Buell! I recognize the bike. It's Mike from Ray Price on his firebolt. We pull into a service station and chat for a second. I invite him to ride with me but he has errands to run. I take off and am riding the 55 bypass around Holly Springs, and I remember that I've left the bike on reserve. I flip it back to normal and the engine dies in about 20 seconds. It all makes sense now. I was out of gas when I pulled out of the driveway. Thats why the bike wouldn't run. Now I've managed to ride 10 miles WOT with the bike on reserve. I take a very gentle ride through town to a gas station. Spent the rest of the evening weaving through back roads. It was nice.
