Well, just wanted to post my toy here. Just turned 3000 today and hope for many many more. The Bama Buells need to get together for some riding this summer. Would love to meet some other Buells in the area. All ricers where I am at.

very nice Buelltoys. How do you like the hard bags? I've been considering getting them... They'd be really nice to have on the ride to Myrtle Beach...if not, I'll be in "creative packing" mode |

I was there on Saturday. I popped over and back. I think I got home around 11pm. No worries. I'll catch you this Sunday with TVSBC if you're out there. |

The hard bags are great. They have tons of room for just about anything you need. I can even go to the store and pick up things while out riding. |

So here is my unofficial complaint about Rocket HD's Service. I called last week about my 1K service on the Uly and was told to drop it off on Friday and it'd be ready on Saturday. When I dropped it off they told me that they'd tried to have it back to me by lunch on Saturday. Well, I talked to them at about 10 a.m. on Saturday and they told me that they were out of stock on two separate gaskets that they needed to put the bike back together and that my bike wouldn't be done until Tuesday around lunchtime. - Complaint/Question #1: Is it normal to tear down the bike, perform the service, THEN check your stock for required parts? I would think the first step in the service is to query the inventory for needed parts. (I missed an awesome riding weekend because of this) The Uly has an annoying rattling sound near the gauge cluster below 2K RPM. A plastic on plastic sound. I asked them to check and repair this while they had it. No problem they assured me. Complaint #2- When I asked about it, the guy (he didn't work on my bike granted) didn't know but if something was done, it'd be on the paperwork. It was not. He told that some other Tech mentioned that it was the horn making the noise (they had discovered this on another Uly), but didn't know if it was fixed on my bike. It was not. He did tell me to call back today if it still made the noise, which I'm contemplating because it should've been done during the 5 days they had my bike. Complaint #3- shoddy workmanship. I have a leak down the swingarm that looks to have stopped but was not cleaned up. The inspection cover now has a slight leak...I wiped it and am watching it now. I guess the final straw for me was they never offered to try and make things right. The closest thing I got was a "yeah, it sucks" and that was it. No offer for a discount or anything. I paid full price. I'm not looking for a hand-out, but any effort to make things right would have been welcomed. The Service Manager was not there when I finally did pick my bike up at 5 p.m. yesterday, so I didn't complain or raise my voice with the Tech left holding down the fort, but I will convey my dissatisfaction with him later. It didn't seem right to lay into a guy who didn't have anything to do with it, just so I could feel better. So I'm venting here...I do actually feel better... BTW, I checked and Chopper Alley on HWY 72 in Madison does do Buell services. They recommend that the first one be done by Harley in order to not mess with your warranty, but other than that they are all for it. Their service guy was Buell Tech for 6 yrs with a Harley dealer. I will try them next. NOTE TO MODS - I don't know if this crosses any lines as to the rules. IF it does, let me know and I'll delete it. |

I feel your pain. Totally acceptable post. Perhaps escalate it beyond the Service Manager to the GM? I had a good experience there but ensured they had the part needed personal like before I rode the 90 miles there. I don't recall any gaskets that need to be replaced at 1k. With that said... I've seen this level of work numerous times and not limited to Harley-Davidson ..oh and Buell dealerships. BUT ... it seems my experience with having my Buells worked on rarely meet acceptable levels. I do all the work I can myself now. I know the idiot personally that works on my bike. I also knows he can pick up the shop manual if in doubt DAve (Message edited by dave on April 19, 2006) |

Flyor, Man, that sux, especially when it costs a good bit of money to have service done. I would definitely take this up with the service manager, and copy the gm on it as well. I actually had a good experience last week with them. I talked to Allen (their resident Buell tech) about getting a tps reset after I put my race ecm in. He got me worked in for 1/2 hour of labor. Had me out of there in about 30 minutes. Next time you need service (if you are so inclined to go back there of course), maybe try to get in touch with him. He was pretty prompt in calling me back when I called to set this up. He seems like a good guy who likes to work on Buells. I will have to check out Chopper Alley. That is MUCH closer to where I live, plus I have been wanting to check them out anyway. But it is good to know that they have an experienced buell guy there. |

Dave, sorry I couldn't make it up that way. Had to work late and needed some sleep to work tonight. Wish I could have been there but maybe another time. Hope the day turned out great for you guys. |

Hey Cody, I didn't see your post until today. I was in Birmingham all weekend at the AMA races. I think I would be available for a ride this coming Sunday if you guys are in. My wife's birthday is Saturday, so sunday would be the only day I can ride. |

Thanks for the B-day wishes Cody! If you guys want, we can plan on meeting somewhere sunday. the usual spot is the Sonic at Jordan and 72. Also, a word of warning on motorcycle thefts. A guy that I ride with, who is also a huntsville police officer, had 2 bikes stolen from him last night. An R6 and a 50cc something. They were cabled together... and are now gone. Keep the horses locked down! Another person in our group had his bike stolen from his garage... while he was at home. I don't remeber exactly when that happened, but Charlie's story just reminded me of this. |

From the garage when he was home? man, that bites. ...and stealing from a cop...now that takes some serious moxy...or lack of brains...or both. btw, thanks for the advice on my service complaint(s). I sent a letter to the GM and Service Manager today. I guess we'll see what comes out from it. Does anyone know if there is an online OEM parts catalog out there? I have a missing mounting screw for the headlight assembly that must have vibrated loose and I'm planning on ordering it from Bumpus. |

I have not seen an OEM parts catalog, but that doesn't mean that it does not exist. You could check the knowledge vault and see if anyone has it. |

I'm pretty stoked...I'm outfitting the Uly with it's first real upgrade while at Myrtle Beach. Kevin's hooking me up with a Drummer Econo while there. |

Flyor, I did order my ecm and air filter from Stone Mountain HD. Great service, took about 2 days to get here. If you want, go over to the 3% braggin rights forum in stormfronts and ask for either Bunny or Deadman (that is their screen names here), they both work in parts/accessories over there. IIRC they give a 10% discount for badweb members. They may also be in the sponsors section too, I am not sure... haven't checked. On another note.. weather for Sunday is not looking too good at the moment... bummer. I guess we can just play it by ear and see what happens. |

Ah yes, the weather. It was definitely squishy! But at least we didn't have to huddle around the grill to keep warm this time. By the way, did you happen to see that green cloud that passed to the north on Friday evening?? That was interesting to say the least. We turned on the radio just in time to hear "...nado, now a check on your traffic" We we like "wah?? did she just say TORnado??.. " |

Did anyone ride yesterday? That weather just didn't let up. I guess we needed the rain but it sure put a damper on any intended fun! |

Yeah Ratyson-Last year was just .... COLD. I managed to beat the storms riding in from Florence. I rode B'ham to Florence this morning. Jus' a bit nipply. Yesterday was all liquid. Damn ... are there any roads out this way?! I see the Natchez trace is nearby...Hmmmmm. DAve |

Dave, One of our usual routes is state road 65 in paint rock. Take 72 east just past Gurley, as 72 takes a sharp (relatively) right turn, 65 is on the left. Take 65 until it dead ends, if you go right, you will remain on 65, left is 149. I have not yet been to Natchez trace, but I hear it is a fun ride also. |

RA- If you take a right and remain on State road 65 will it eventually pick back up with 72? The reason I ask is my dad and I are headed up 72 when we go to Myrtle Beach and I'm always interested in taking good side roads... We're actually going to hit the Cherahola Skyway enroute. Wanted to hit the Dragon too, but it's just too far out of the way and we're actually going to try and keep some sort of schedule! |

65 does not come back to 72, however, when you take that right and go up the mountain you will eventually come to a stop sign with a convenience store on the left. If you take a right there, you will get back to 72 about 1/2 way between Gurley and Scottsboro. |
