I knew I forgot to do something . . . I got your message on Friday night, but I was with a group of about ~40 jr/sr high school kids so I figured I'd just call you back in the morning. I completely forgot about it until now. |

Are you sure you don't owe him for MB3? Just how do you figure? What's the story he's telling?? I will say that I really had a good time at MB3. While I enjoyed LaVale last year, MB3 was a better time for me. I enjoyed the cabin versus a hotel and all that that brings. Even though I was very nervous about the trailer issue, it was nice having such fun company in the Suburban. Glad too that Rubberdown & U4euh stopped us before we got to much further down that road!

I have a laptop and the VSDS software for testing and TPS zero / afv reset Oldog, better be careful on post like that, you will have Buells lined up in your front yard with that statement. I can't believe I've successfully drilled out a stud. Not sure what I can say about that one Jim? |

cobalt is the best and most expensive drill steel made. Least anyone be left with the impression that they can't afford these bits, they were less than $2 apiece. Now that I know how good they are, I'm never buying anything else. And I'm particulary thrilled to found out they were made in NC and not Chinia. |

I washed the bike this evening. So of course I had to take a 20 mile ride to dry it off. That was after the 40 mile ride on the way home from work, which is 11 miles away. I'm not sure I'm saving gas money by riding the bike. |

I know I do good to stay under 20 miles for my 11 mile ride to work. I actually had to get home tonight, so it only took 14 miles to make my 11 miles ride home from work. |

I failed. I rode straight home and then rode half way to lillington after dinner. I found some great roads. I can't wait to show them off. |

Twig- I need it, sure sucks not being able ride the <><> outta the Buell for fear of snapping a belt. Thanks. About that Ascot- You know I have that CB1100f out back, would make some interesting projects to get them back in shape! Brankin-The odd thing about this day and the tires was how quickly they went from the 1st pic to the 2nd, only 158 miles for me. Total on the tires would estimate to be about 7600-7750 miles. When I had them mounted, the speedo sensor was Ca-put so I put anywhere from 2200-2500 miles on the bike before replacing it. And I am working on the new Sport Attacks, but havn't heard whether or not supply's are available. Ulywife-I might actually have to alter the route, we started riding at 10:30, with a 20 minute break at the mountain and with lunch, I still didn't get to cover some points of interest that was in the plans. We split at about 5:00 I guess(Jim?). So we'll see. Who all is planning to come out and ride/BBQ/shoot guns/bonfire/listen to music/tell stories? I just got a new grill, the new deck is finished, I just made a new target range, already have a huge pile of wood to burn, got steaks, got music, I know a few for sure's, how about the rest of you? Oh yea, I got beer, and a new recipe for jello shots, virgin and non virgin! (Message edited by u4euh on April 26, 2006) |

Tonya says I keep her up at night also. Even worse, I got a Blue Tick/Coon Hound that vibrates the floor!! Are you gonna make it over Brankin? Now that you have rubber on DasBuell? Twig, more than welcome to come the night before. Kristi, sounds like Carlee is as excited about this as you were MBIII! It is awesome to see kids excited about things like this. It is the memories that they will never lose. |

As Court would say, that is a accurate statement. Carlee has loved riding with Carlos since he got the Nighthawk 3 years ago. She's already sat on a Blast! and can reach the floor. Lord help me when she turns 16. How old is your daughter? Jim N's daughter is around 11 like Carlee if I'm not mistaken. When our weekends settle down around here, maybe we can plan to meet at Michael's for breakfast and then out for a ride.

The M2 and I have been getting re-aquinted after a long winter. The shock is here. It looks practically new. I guess now I have to figure out how to get it on the bike. It is great riding old red thunder again. I pulled it into the barn this afternoon and I realized how much fun the M2 is to ride. The low end torque for passing just stomps the Uly. It almost feels as if the M2 has a smaller front sprocket. You roll up behind a car, pull into the next lane to pass, roll on the throttle and man! Am I doing 80? It feels like someone kicks it in the ass and you are gone with no need to down shift. I don't know how much my neighbors enjoy it a 6:30 in the morning. That is the only problem with commuting with the M2. Man is it loud! I now remember to turn the gas on. I now quit looking for the key hole on the side of the gage cluster. I have even finally adapted back to the leaned over riding position. That took a while, the Uly definitely spoiled me there. I like the M2's brakes better, more stopping power, with less effort. Firing up the M2 is just so impressive. To start the M2, turn on the gas, turn on the key, pull and hold the choke, push button and the bike instantly starts running. The M2 also shakes more than the Uly, but pulling into the barn, with the M2 and the Uly facing each other, it hit me that I really enjoying having two Buells. I have a ride back from Indiana coming up. I am helping Dave move and we are trailering the bike up and I am riding it back. Sunday looks like rain up there so it will be 650 miles of wet slab, oh yeah! I may still venture some over land. The road between Kentucy and North Carolina are just too good to pass up. A little US-52 is in order at least. U4euh, we are ready for the C3jr ride. It sounds like it is going to be a blast. Old Dog, so what time will you have the garage ready? We have to plan our next ride you know. |

Carlos, Pull out your handy dandy map, or GPS, and look at 421. Big long high speed sweepers -- probably my favorite slab. You can pick it up in Indiana and ride it to just west of WinSal and jump on I40. YMMV, but I wouldn't miss it unless the weather is terrible. G2 |

Oldog - I have no idea. Guess it's time to order a service manual. My Blast parts should be here today. I ordered a footpeg because the rubber is peeling off the one I have. I have a problem keeping left and right straight. I'm really hoping I ordered the correct one :-) |

JimN - we have a service manual for the Uly out in the shop. Once the rain stops I'll go and get it and see what I can find out for you. Mind you I have NO idea what ddfi or ddfi2 are! Carlos, Pull out your handy dandy map, or GPS Guess Carlos will be pulling out the handy dandy map as the Easter Bunny didn't bring him a GPS. Maybe Santa will bring him one if he's a good boy

I had to use an axe and much profanity, but I actually have a rideable bike!

Well the muffler bolts to the front the the engine cases. There is a spacer in the assembly that fits between the two flanges on the muffler. Or its supposed to. Mine didn't quite fit between the flanges, which was making it a PITA to get on. So I decided to bend the flanges. Lets just say the muffler is very strong. My first attempt was to put a piece of wood on one flange and hit it with a rubber mallet. I turned the wood into splinters and didn't budge the flanges. I found an axe in my collection of tools. The back of the head is just slightly smaller than the spacing between the two flanges. So I hammered it in with the mallet and then hammered it back out. That still hadn't bent the flanges. So I hammered it back in and put a little sideways torque on the handle. That bent the flanges enough for me to get the muffler on the bike. |

I left out part of the story last night. Has anyone ever soldered a PL-259 onto a piece of coax? If so you probably know where this is going. There is a metal ring that goes around the neck of the muffler to allow the header flange to hold it on. Given that the ring is smaller than the front of the header, it's not immediatly obvious how to get it on. I tried for a few minutes, and then called Mark to get the secret of ring installation. Mark says there is no secret, just do it. I finally manage to get the thing on there. At this point I look around and see the header flange sitting up on the seat of the bike. Oh F*CKETYD*AMN And let me tell you, getting the ring back off is much harder than getting it on, Particularly if you want to reuse it. I know I watched Mark just snap one right off the other day. He must have the magic touch. |
