FYI, Just to finalize the info, Illinois H-D/Buell WILL be co-sponsors of the May 24 Buell TrackDay at Autobahn Country Club Joliet, Illinois. We have more info on the www.ilharley.com website and I will be accepting registration beginning next week. Also just to let you know, contrary to what you might of read elsewhere, at this time, there is NO commitment as of yet by anyone including Buell MC to the second August date. That one remains a "maybe". Thanks, Sam |

I believe that is correct Tim. It seems to correspond with the "Naked Truth" factory promotional book/cd that they gave away as well. Did you happen to get one of those? That track day offer looks very appealing. Anyone that has never ridden on a track may want to consider it. Very good value and serious fun. |

Greetings fellow Chicagoland Buell owners, Santa brought me a XB12X Ulysses for XMAS and it is an absolute blast. So much so, I've put 500 miles on it since then. I did a Plainfield to Starved Rock (Ottawa, IL) ride on that nice Friday in Jan when it got up to 55 degrees. On other 40+ degree opportunity days I just bundle up in my down lined ski coat and snow pants. I'll be asking Santa for some Gerbing eletric pant and jacket liners for XMAS 2006. I have completely forgotten my old bike (Suzuki Katana) and am so glad I've upgraded to a Buell. The 80% sportbike/20% offroad is an awesome combination. I've been practicing gravel & dirt roads in the country and the bike is very stable. I found a cobblestone road and the suspension soaked up the bumps like I've never experienced before. Super comfy seating position makes it a true joy to ride. And it carves corners too. Buell knows Product Innovation! Two questions for Chicago area Buell riders: 1). I'd love to participate in the Buell Track day on May 24 at the Autobahn CC. I've sat on the corner outside the track and salivated at the fun the racers were having and always wanted to get on that track with my motorcycle....alas the perfect opportunity. Can I bring my stock Ulysses out to this track day? Do I have to remove/tape up my turn signals or can I just show up in stock trim? As I'll be riding to the track on my Uly, I don't want to hastle with this if I don't need to. I enjoy pushing the limits of my riding, but do so in a very safe manner and promise not to bump into anyone as I'm not there to race, just to have fun. 2). How is the Buell service at Conrad's HD in Joliet? They are my closest dealer, and therefore a logical choice for me. Thanks for any info you can provide. - Marc in Plainfield, IL |

Thanks for the info Max. I will be in Denver during the Windy City Brag March 2 meeting, but will make sure I attend the Apr 6 meeting and get to know the BRAG group at Berwyn. I'm also attaching a photo from my January Starved Rock Ride. I was trying to capture the "Starved Rock State Park" lettering on the bus behind the bike, but that did not show up. |

Marc, I must say that I like the black Uly so much more than the yellow. Nice bike. I live in Homer Glen off of 143rd street, so we are relatively close. Max is right, there are several Windy City (and other) Buellers in the far SW burbs. Buell track day with PrivateTrackTime will require minimum bike preparation. Basically, have decent tires, tape mirrors and lights and that's about it. Minimum fuss, big fun. You will also need appropriate riding apparel. See http://www.privatetracktime.com for details regarding bike prep, clothing, etc. Not too much required. I plan on being there! |

Marc, As a note, I have an entertaining route from Joliet (through Plainfield) to Starved Rock that keeps to the backroads and increases the fun factor. I will be planning a Windy City ride this spring, but would also be willing to ride it with you at any time (I've got one of those Gerbing's heated suits you hope to pickup some day. They really extend the riding season). If interested, check my profile to send a personal message. We can post details for others later if something is arranged. |

Marc -- riding with Fly is great -- he really has a knack for finding great roads -- however, if he offers to clean your leathers, be afraid |

Gentlemen, Glad to hear I won't be last on track day. My leathers are also clean so I think I'm safe there. I appreciate your information and warm welcome. I'm psyched for the Windy City Starved Rock ride and will connect with Fly to organize a smaller group recon of the route when it gets into the 50's. This should set us up nicely for a larger club ride with maximum twistiness when the warm weather arrives. |
