Hey DC Buellers- just picked up my bike about 1 month ago. I have ridden it to work every day since. Got a question for you guys though - I will be needing a TPS reset soon (race kit parts are on their way). What dealership should I go to? I called the two closest ones and their service dept guys were like "Uh... TPS reset? I don't really know, i guess it wouldn't be more than an hour of work..." This doesn't give me much confidence. So, where should I head for this and any future service work that I can't do myself? Anybody still riding? |

Hey Coops! Welcome to the BadNess.. What dealers did you try already? Just curious.. Ok, for the TPS reset there are two confirmed 'good' dealers to go to for service. The first is the closest to you, Ft. Washington. The second that I use is Frederick. I've heard that Batley has some good folks as well, but I've got nothing concrete to base any reports on for them on. For basic hang on stuff and do it yourself, I highly suggest DaveS out of Appleton WI. Al from American Sportbike. And if they can't help you.. well, there are a few other in the sponsor section that can pretty much cover everything you can get for that bike. Ok, usual questions.. What'd ya get? How long ya been riding? Where did you get it? For now, the bike is parked, but I'll be riding again for the last two weeks of the year (ahh, vacation.. aint it grand?) Once next season starts cooking off again, watch this space for more news, Jose (DC BRAG) usually has a few things going on and I'm always up for something twisted.. |

Still riding, just looking out for the ice..... As Blublak said, welcome! Here's a ride sheet to get you started. There's lots of Buell worthy roads in this area. Hope to meet you soon on some of them.

Hey, people do read this thread! The last posting dates were making me a little nervous, but I guess it is that time of year again! I called Ft Wash, and to be fair, the girl who answered the phone said the buell tech had left for the day and then she said something about not having a lot of people who work with Buells. It just made me feel like i might walk away with one of those "inept dealer" experiences that ends up costing me extra time and/or money for something that i just cant do myself. But if you guys say its pretty good, I'll probably just head over to Ft. Wash (when a tech who knows Buells is there, of course). As for me, I just picked up the bike about a month ago from a fellow BaDWeBber located in KY. I took the greyhound out to KY and rode the bike home, sort of like a little weekend adventure. It's a 2003 XB9s that turned over 5K on the trip home; the bike is basically bone stock, except for a new set of Diablos. The color is "Super-Fast Yellow." When I got home, I put some mobil one in the oil tank and the gear box. I have since picked up the Buell saddlebags, pieced together a race kit (for under $300), and ordered a set of cityX handguards from Daves. This week is going to be fun for me, as I should be getting the rest of the parts by mail. And it looks like its going to be in the high 30s - low 40s for the next week or so, so i can definitely start putting the pieces together. Plus, i think I have to adjust my primary, so hoping to do that while its still sorta warm out. I'll be riding to work every day, providing there isn't snow/ice on the roads, but will probably be sticking to highways until it warms up for good. Those hilly, shady roads tend to melt a little slower, and I'd hate to have to learn that the hard way. I'm definitely interested in getting involved with the local BRAG and will be up for some rides when it warms up though. Thanks for the Ride Sheet Jose! |

Coops.. My Friend.. You have no idea what you are in for.. Next spring, when the twisted bits I know are dry(er) I'll be trying to get a few runs through with friends.. and you'll be invited for sure. Heck, we might even drag BRAG out for a couple of miles.. hehehehehehe.. What say Jose? You willing to risk your chapter on some of the roads that I know will put a 'kink' in their throttle and a little wear on the sides o' them tyres?? (and to keep the H-D folks happy one of them will even have a eats stop for Fried Cheesecake) .. |

Coops, I also have an 03 firefolt but with a full fairing, check out my profile. I suggest you buy a manual and buy the tools you need to work on it. That's what I do, don't feel like dealing with the hassles of dealers BS and prices. Only if I have to, will I bring it in. Which so far is zero times....knock on wood. I hear ya Fire. I still need to pick up a manual, but i think i have most of the tools i need... tps reset is obviously going to the dealer though. your fairing is pretty cool, as is the whole white thing you have going on there. Do you race it or is it mostly for show? |

Coops, I don't race her but hope to do some track days this year. I commute to the Pentagon and ride it everywhere I go if I can help it. Have not ridden in a few weeks due to the snow and ice on my local roads. Anyone going to the annual bike show in DC Jan 13? I'm hoping to pick up some good deals on riding leather or suit to get ready for track days. |

Anyone going to the annual bike show in DC Jan 13? Yes, Saturday, maybe Sunday too. Take the metro to the convention center, it's cheaper than parking in DC. |

Should be back to the 8 lane death strip at the beginning of the year and am interested in going to the show.. I'll check in again later.. |

Just got back from a little Christmas vacation with the family. It's nice to get out of the city, but its equally nice to get back! I'll be going to the IMS on said saturday. Should be a pretty good time and I will definitely be on the look out for a deal on some gear. Me and a buddy are going to hit the gap this spring/summer (first-timers) and I want to be prepared. Anyone else planning on going (to the IMS)? |

Having attended both in past years, the NYC show is not that much better make the trip there worth it, unless you're doing other things while in NYC that you can't do in DC. The DC show is nearly identical, save a few prototypes/race bikes/racers that might be at the NYC show. I would love to ride to the DC Convention center but I'd rather not pay for parking. Parking at the metro Stops is free on weekends, so it makes more sense to drive there and take the metro in to the Convention center. |

Supposedly Billy lane is going to be at the DC show, but no info on date or time. I would assume that there will be a large crowd during that time. Just FYI. Also, Monster Jam will be at the MCI center on Jan 13-14, so it might make for worse parking that weekend. |

Hey all, hows winter treatin ya? I just wanted to drop a line and give a shout out for may fav HD dealer.. HD/ Buell Of Frederick MD. The sales people I have raved about before, the service guys have been good, and bad. BUt.. the one thing I can say is they try. I have had several issues concerning the service of my 04 12 R, but they make every effort to fix it, and have even loaned me a bike to ride several times. Last week I took the bike into Frederick for a quick ride, and on the way the engine lite came on. I slowed and pulled off, the lite went out. I stopped , checked it over, everything seemed fine. I took off, rode well, got to 70 +, the lite came on a again. I decided to take it by the dealer to make sure it wasn't gonna explode or something. I was just hoping for some re assurance, and schedule an appt. They took the bike right in. Put it on the computer, read a bad O2 sensor. The lead guy told the mech to check for loose connections and the like to make sure. He found a wire laying on the cylinder head which showed a little wear. He fixed it, moved it, put it all back together. Test rde, no lite. Put it on the computer.. nothing.. everything just fine. Took a little while, cost me nothing, and they were happy to take care of it. I do my share of grumbling to them when things are not right, and I sure like to let them know when things are... This is not the first time they've taken me right in like this... Thanks to Frederick HD/ Buell.... |

Hey Greg! Long time no hear from! While you were there, did you find out if they have a new person to ram-rod the BRAG chapter? Or is it falling by the wayside again (and we just got a nice write up in Fuell).. Hugh, are you still looking for a gainful? What do you do? (my company is always looking for folks that can do.. something).. I didn't realize some of you guys were so close (I'm in Sterling).. we will have to get a few miles together come warmer/drier days. Karl, same at ya (except the job thing, unless you're looking).. Does anyone know who was on the yellow tuber followed by the yellow 9S that was on 193 Saturday afternoon? I was on my 9R and thought I'd seen those machines before, just not sure, but no place to turn around on that section so I couldn't try to catch up and say 'Hi!'.. Anyone besides me going to the 'Buell Track Day' at Beverun.. errr.. Pocono on the 9th err.. 16th of April? I just signed up with TPM and am going to try and make a few dates with them this year.. Come to think of it, if a group of us started going, over and over, we could form a 'Track Day Team'.. Really mess with folks' heads.. Ok, I'm out.. Hope to see ya all soon! |

Hey Peter, I've asked everytime I go in. Steve said they're wanting to. I talked to Joe last week as well. He seems top think the Buell side of things is growing in support and that they ( Frederick ) truly wants to continue the Brag Club. Steve is the one who told me about the Fuell mag. I, as usual, did not receive this last issue. Seems like I only receive every other issue. Well at any rate, we need to keep the pressure on them to continue, I believe the area will support it. |
