Maybe a little rain creeping into the forecast, but never mind, it's still a week away. How many times does the weatherman get it right? rt |

I don't think Michelle is going to be there, but Bill (remember Bill? with the bad 'Vette from last year?) may be bringing Pam, the gorgeous blonde. rt |

Hoot: Excellent. How do you like your steak? Roadrunr (and Philip): Michelle has decided to attend. Looks like she'll be coming up Friday. Please alert your spousal units to this development, in case it has any bearing on their attendance. rt |

OK, Ranchito riders, the maps and directions have been e-mailed to everybody on my e-mail list. If you haven't received yours, let me know. PM me through my BWB profile or e-mail me: road_thing (at) badweatherbikers.com According to my latest list, I have Blake, Bomber, Hootowl and myself Thursday and Friday nights, joined by chadleys1, blks1l with a guest, hellbuellyjay, Denny da Bomb, blazin' shane, lootenantdan, Gtacc360 and whitettrashxb on Saturday night. Coming in for the day only on Saturday I show Bud Hallinan, Jesi, Jerry, Roadrunr (with MrsRunr), M202 with a guest, Philip (with Kathy and Rachel and pies) Carl, Rem, and Mike_bolts. Jxb: You're on the list, don't know how I ignored your name. My latest headcount has 30 folks out on Saturday for burgers'n'beer! I hope everybody makes it, or I'm gonna be eatin' burgers for a long time... rt |

I notice the forecast has changed for the better. I've watched it go from 40 to 60 to now 20% chance of rain. I like the suggested "Plan a Scenic Drive-Ride".... |

Well, if you ride to ranchito, you will have had your "scenic ride!" I like the way the forecast is shaping up. Dr. Neil gave us a clean weather forecast for Saturday just now... I'm sad to report that our elder statesman from Chicago-land, Bomber, has developed a conflict between riding to the ranchito and remaining gainfully employed. He chose poorly... We'll miss you, Bomber... ...but old Scotch is gonna be history! rt |

Philip: Your taste in pie has proven to be excellent in the past. I'll gladly eat whatever flavors you bring. Having said that, I'm partial to cherry, apple and lemon meringue... See you Saturday! Kathy and Rachel will be with you, I hope? Michelle will be there. rt |

Thanks, Dean! Mike: I have a compressor in the garage--you can out some extra air in your tires! rt Court: I'm awake, I just don't like pecan pie very much! In fact, I prefer okra to pecan pie... |

It's no wonder we do so well in restaurants together. . . I love fried Okra, which for the record is virtually unobtainable in NYC. I used to love my Tuesday lunches at the Black-Eyed Pea in Dallas when I was doing the CityPlace building. Gads I wish I could make it down there! SEND H.E.B. ! ! |

yeah, but Mr Egan is basically a self-employed, make yer own kinda schedule kinda guy -- I ain't got near the focus and patience to be likewise -- also, he could write up an engaging tale regarding the festivities, and make revenue in two ways: 1 gettin paid for the story but the publishing organization 2 getting paid for what he DIDN'T write by whomever ;-} Thang -- I believe it's like 1 through 4 June -- good weather that time of year round here, the bugs will be tolerable (I don't THINK it's a cicada year this time round) -- Chicago Midway is your SWA destination -- |

Bomber: As an alternate, you might think Daytona. The crowd is getting bigger by the day and Dave Gess, Vickie and I are coordinating our arrival so all can ride in my rent-a-rocket! Court |

Uh, Bomber, you have ridden as a passenger with Court before, right? The only possible saving grace to this proposed scenario is that the rent-a-rocket will likely not be equipped with flashing strobes and sirens and such... I'm thinking about doing the Daytona thing myself. rt |

Thang -- alas, I have only had the pleasure of riding NEAR Court, but not with him -- not wishing to top my most exciting, and perplexing ride (in a C-119 -- 110 knots airspeed, something like -10 knots ground speed), I'm not usre if riding with him would be advisable -- now if I could get superglued to the seat, Jack and I could entertain ourselves for hours . . . . Daytona is mildly drawing, but with the our week doing Route 1 nort of SF, saving some time for the BRAT thing at the Gap (if still on), I need to carefully manage time, if ya know what I mean -- also, Daytona is roughly equal to kidlet's arrival home from school, which is a series of high holy days ;-} |

I resent being associated with the phrase "like it's glued to the road". It's not my fualt it ACTUALLY WAS. Rental rockets, after my 2 laps of training with Jason Pridmore, can be coaxed to do things that large trucks can not. My greatest "urban assault" skill is proudly being able to parallel park an F-250 from the sidewalk into a parking place. . . with McCarroll and Pederson, in a state of mind panic, in the front seat with me. My confidence drowned out their terror. I also made Saro's short trip to Gotham. . . er, "memorable". I've always had a natural talent for being able to use the bumper of the ol' pickup to "re-position" adjacent vehicles that, in my opinion, are improperly parked. This works best on slick, wet streets, but at my elevated skill level few things slow me. Well, this was a tough night in the East Village and it turns out that BOTH the car in front and the car in back had parked "improperly", so I modified both, hopped out and announced we'd be ordering vittles within minutes. Just then I looked up to see "NYPD DETECTIVE PARKING ONLY". Yep, I'd just "adjusted" a pair of undercover vehicles. I went with what I can urban intuition and "adjusted" the Ford to a spot about 5 blocks away. I also gave Saro the short course is backing into a parking place, backwards, down a one-way street. It sounds harder than it is.

Bomber: The little "short course" with the Mercury Marquis in Wisconsin, was just a teaser. I'm much better in a vehicle more suited to my skill set. |
