Mark, Laura, it was good to meet you and glad to see that you had a good time. Folks, it was another successful C-3 adventure and I believe it was the best attended to date, maybe save for the picture get together. WE have to get busy and plan for some more adventures. It looks as though Daytona for the AMA 200 race is next one in the works for the obvious reasons that Brankin explained at dinner. Like to see maybe something put together for the CCS races at VIR, and March Badness, that's always a good time, but more importantly we need to get some local action going again once the weather cooperates some and we probably really should start doing some of the things that BRAG kinda expects us to do-like having meetings and all that official kinda stuff. Is this stuff great or what............. De-d-dee! Dave |

Just a little, short ramble from the adventure this weekend from me. It was, indeed, a GREAT time! If only we had the foresight for what course our adventure would take we could've all had nametags prepared prior to our arrival: Surprisingly, I only took one 'Dee-Dee-Dee' picture: Some misc. things I found interesting at the show (in no particular order): I can barely tippy-toe a Ulysses with the low seat. I was surprised at how similar this rear axle adjuster setup is to the set up used on the tubers equipped with the aluminum swingarm. The above is on that new Jap cruiser with the distinctive (read FUGLY) front fender. Now, for not being a Buell (or H-D), this is one bike that I kinda dig. It has the 'look' I want, and although they appear to be a little small, there are hard saddlebags on it. I know I wouldn't enjoy the IL4 powerplant. I'm really wondering why most of the other manufacturer's make Touring equipment if Sport Tourer's 'don't sell'. Make a Buell like this, based off the Firebolt, and I know I would somehow have to add one to the fleet. I sure hope within the next couple of years that Buell gets profitable enough where they are willing to 'take a loss' and provide a Sport Tourer to their interested customers. As I get off my soapbox and stop my rant I will end with the following. In a show environment, it's nice to know that not every bike there is 'just another pretty face' as the underseat of this custom V-Rod shows: I can't wait until next year! But I also can't wait until Daytona - or next weekend for that matter - so I must be an impatient man, 1313 |

I Love photoshop. I actually don't know how to use it myself. But my Uncle is an ace. He met me at the show with his camera, and we spent Sunday turning them into Art. He has the personality to pull it all off too. Did you all see the stunt show that happened about 2:30 in the back of the room? The crowd was about 7 deep against the gate and I couldn't even tell what they were doing in there. He walked up with his camera, talked to the security person, and the next thing I know we are standing on the other side of the fence :-) |

And so did Laura I wish I had realized she had never been to DC before, I would have suggested that you drive through the city on the way home. There is just something cool about seeing the Washington monument for the first time, and realizing all that stuff you studied in school really exists. |

Great pictures. I asked Webe to send me his pictures so I can reduce them and post them. New business! We have to discuss our Brag Charter. We have to send documentation back to Brag to stay an official BRAG group. To do this we have to list the officers and I would like to step down as director and let someone else take over for the new C3 year. Let's kick it around for this week and get some decision to "recertify" and if so, list of officers by this time next week. It should be a good weekend for riding if early reports are correct (mid 60s with 20-30% chance of rain). Maybe we can kick it around here or via e-mails and then maybe meet this weekend to finalize the plan. |

Quick note: The Frank Kinsey race school was a huge personal success. I think I really got it. Right knee puck worn down to the leathers. Right peg ground down nicely. Lots of outside passes at full lean, dragging a knee. 158 miles of quality track time. The blue 9R really had people talking. It was the "buzz". Thanks U4euh for all the help! I post more when the photos come in and I get some rest. Got home at 2:00a.m. (Message edited by rubberdown on January 17, 2006) |

Jim. Was that you on your Blast in Cary this afternoon? Was riding home and (if it was) you turned at the light just before I could get there. Just got back from riding. Windy but warm. Was trying out my new Silver Star lights. Wish I could of gone up to DC with ya all. I could make the drive but wouldn't of been able to walk much. |

Brankin, If you want, I'll put you on the back and show you how easy that is to do. I read the review for the article those pictures came from and I was surprised at the comments. The article was a comparison of big dual sport bikes which involved six bikes. The tester spent more time on straights and dirt, so I feel they really missed the Uly's strongest suit, it's on road handling. Even so I was impressed with how well they liked the Buell off road. They said it was the third most capable behind the KTM 950 Adventure and The BMW GS1200. Considering the Uly can make short order of these bikes on a twisty paved road, tells me that Uly's trade offs are well worth it. Though they knocked the aging design on the motor, they actually liked it for off road maneuvering. For once a compliment when describing the motor as a "Tractor Motor". Over all they ranked the Uly fourth of six, but noted that the three leaders were considerably more expensive. The V-Strom came in fifth. Overall a good review from some dedicated Adventure Sport writers from Europe. Mike, Too cool, must post pics. Gramps, Good to here you are out and riding around. I wish you could have joined us too. The shows was good, but the company was better. Who is up for a ride this weekend? |

Brankin, If you want, I'll put you on the back and show you how easy that is to do. Hmmm...Reminds me of a cool story from one of my trips to Germany and being on the back of a mid 80's BMW R80GS (with 1000 cc cylinders) that I was later allowed to borrow... As Court would say, remind me to tell you sometime... So I guess I have ridden an adventure tourer before...Funny though, that I could actually reach the ground on that one...But as I found out attempting to ride with a Buell group that met up in Potsdam it definitely couldn't keep up with the Buell's... 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on January 17, 2006) |

This was a bright red Blast. Mark, Where in Cary are you. I'm off Cary Parkway and Seabrook. My son has a black Blast with a Kerker pipe on it. You may not see him but you can hear him a couple of miles away. |
