LOL, thanks for catching my blunder. I was talking to my brother-n-law about general motors disappearing and that had me thinking of detroit. I know those aren't the same place by a long shot, was just thinking cold and not about the correct location. Never had my throttle freeze even the couple fool times I rode in heavy snow (but, I had to get home). Merry Christmas, Larry. By the way we have just the wet stuff only here tomorrow. |

Hey Jim, The wife came through and got me a Slingbox -- no more streaming the games/events/TV. Sweet little SWAG addition to my collection of totally worthless items :-) G2 |

Merry Christmas to all - a little late but just got back from doing the family thing. I got out Friday and rode for a bit... I need different boots and gloves, thats for sure. Can't wait until *really* warm weather! 1313 - Thanks for the info about Homecoming & the link to your trip there. I'll be asking more questions later on. I'm "hoping" to be able to attend with a coworker. We'd like to ride up for the festivities. One little problem for me - I coudn't get last of May/1st of June for vacation. I'm Working on getting weeks changed now. andyh |

Looks like ya'll were trying out the Uly, or was she on the Blast? Put my phone number into your cellphone, next time your in the area call me. Just don't call my cell phone as I have still not replaced the one that was lost when RBRDWN and myself went riding. HM # 910-673-5499 JIM |

Gramps - I rode 42 today from Raleigh down to Corinth. I see why you like it! Jim - Thanks. I'd love to get down there sometime this week. Unfortunatly Rebecca has me moving furniture, so who knows if I'll have time. |

Ok Jim. Now I'm really can't wait to get back to ridding. I would ride it all the way to Sanford have lunch and ride back. Love it in the spring and fall. Oh,I'm not going touch that gay thing! |

Gramps - I found an even more interesting side road. It connects highway 42 to the Triangle Brick plant off of US 1. It's a nice road in and of itself, and it makes it possible for me to make a nice loop, riding down on US 1 and back on 42. And there is a road on the other side of the brick plant that looks like it might be even more interesting. I'm going back in the morning to check it out. U4euh - If you want to come with me, post something and I'll call you before I leave. I'm not sure what time I'll be heading out. It depends on whether Rebecca wants to come with me. |

Jim - If Rebecca goes with me, I'll need to stick close to home so I can have her back after lunch. She isn't a real early riser either. So perhaps something from 10-12. That loop on 42 would be a nice place to start. Its about the right length and its sort of inbetween you and I. If Rebecca doesn't go I'm more flexible. I could head down your way if you like. |

Jim R, The first time I saw it I thought it was a statue too. Upon closer inspection, it is a life-size 'sculpture'. Look closely at the pic and you can tell the bike is an actual bike. Ah, the joys of going to a real Buell dealership... I won't bore you with all the details (1 Uly, 1 CityX, new and used '05's, new '06's, 2 used X1's and a used XB9S, new bikes for retail with no accessory voucher, racks of clothing, accessories on their own shelves - including the shifter paint set for the Firebolts for sale at retail, 2 old Buell racebikes on prominent display), oops looks like I already did. What caught me off guard the most was seeing this in the floor: I guess I should have assumed their would be one there though. Tomorrow should be even better as I am off to Uke's and will be picking up some parts I need for my saddlebags. Mike W, Since I am currently in an area that many of its inhabitants enjoy snowmobiling I decided to check out some snowmobile gear today to see how appropriate it would be for cold weather riding. What I first noticed was that there is nothing for keeping the hot exhaust pipe from damaging (melting) the material of the snowmobile suit. It may just be that what I was looking at today was not specialized enough equipment to have any provisions for the heat off the exhaust, but what is your's like? Does your's have something to protect from the exhaust pipe heat? I realize the XB is a different animal than my S2, but even the V-Rod would bother the material (although in a slightly different location). What gives, what am I missing? 1313 |

not specialized enough equipment to have any provisions for the heat off the exhaust My lesson from earlier this year... Do not grab the header with gloves that look like leather but are really a form of plastic. |

Hey Jim.. sorry I missed your call last night. I think I'd better hold off any long distance rides for awhile . Took the bike out yesterday for awhile, rear tire feels a little bit too squirrely for my comfort. I've got to get a new set as soon as I can. Take care |

Some highlights from today are below. Before leaving East Troy I happened upon the unusual sight of 2 A-Team van replicas at a local body shop. The near one is nearly identical to the ones used in the show while the far one just needs a couple of things to be there. Since I am not riding up here I am keeping my sanity by going to as many bike shops as I can. First off was Uke's in Kenosha. From the outside of the dealership one would presume that it is not your average dealer. First off with it's sign that is visible from I-94. To the Buell signs on the building. To the 'bike tower' at the entrance of the dealership. Then there's the inside of the dealership. And the museum - which has LOTS of Buell stuff - like their latest addition: And an old - but rarely seen - favorite: This old sign in the museum reminded me of the 'gas-crisis' we experienced this past summer: The next stop was Little Scotty's Customs to get this years (2006) Bikes 'n Babes calendar. No Buell's in it this year, but enough of 'B' #2 to make it through another year. On the floor they had this V-Rod (which surprizingly still had a NC registration sticker on it's frame): For those inquisitive about mounting a XB front wheel and brake on a V-Rod: On the way to the next shop I happened upon this unique piece of 4 wheeled machinery: The final stop of the day was Racine H-D/Buell: In their motorclothes section they had this cool little (but $4K) Bugatti pedal car: The warmer than normal temps have been doing their best to melt the snow, and in some areas only grass can be seen. Yesterday and the day before I actually saw people out riding, but none today. Going to the bike shops does help to keep me from missing riding too much...but I'm beginning to look forward to coming back to NC so I can get 'back in the saddle'. 1313 |

Brankin, I looked at my Motoline suit and did not see any provision for avoiding melting the material on the pipe. I used the suit a lot last winter and never had a problem. You'll have to check it out sometime. I found mine on e-bay. Have a safe trip home. |
