Spike, a step in snowmobile suit works really well for for riding in the twenties and it's more comfortable that tight layers. when you get to your destination, just step out of it and hang it up. I've got one made by motoline. It's marketed for motorcycling but I think it's just a snomobile suit. |

Okay, make me feel bad, fine, I'll ride to ECU tonight. I thought the cold would scare me off, but I can't stand being a fair weather rider! A buddy at work with a lot more riding experience told me that in snow and ice to flat steer the bike, I will have to practice that. I'm going riding! |

It was kinda cold this morning, but it didn't bother me much. I forgot what the V-Rod had on tap when I passed a slower moving vehicle (which ones aren't when I'm around?) coming home from work tonight. Give it a little gas from 25 mph and the next thing I notice I am doing nearly 70...in a 45 mph speed zone! Thank God there were no cops around tonight - and that I've noticed them well ahead of time when they've been on my route home! After last night and this morning, I think the 'Exxon Valdez' should be renamed 'Puddles'... Last night I talked to my buddy who worked the Seattle IMS show. He said the T-Shirt that Buell gives to Buell owners at the IMS shows is a black shirt (SWEET!!!), with a image in white on the front that is a hand in the shape of a peace sign but angled downwards about 45° or so, with white text on the front that reads '(Hello)'. On the back in white is the Buell logo and he thinks it also says 'East Troy, WI' on the back, but he wasn't exactly sure about it. He remarked that he thought Buell was trying to rip off 'the wave' as a Buell thing, but I think it is a COOL idea for a shirt, and it is GREAT when I can add another BLACK Buell shirt to my collection (especially even better when it is FREE!)! The only thing that irks me is that some b'stards can get 2 (or more) depending on how many Buell's they own - but I can get over that (just give me about 10 years and see how many Buell's will be in my stable...). Spike, I asked about the image on the wall thingamadoodlybob and sent him the pic to see what he can do. He made no promises, but who knows what things are like nowadays. Time will tell. Since it was so cold today, has Mangina season officially arrived? So, now that the pot has been sweetened, who's up for the DC IMS show? Unrated - for your protection! 1313 |

Hey, I got a quick question for those with more computer knowledge. Why does my browser freeze up sometimes (damn near all the time, lately) when I try to access a link (could be to see a badwebber's profile, to access a link posted on badweb, or a link in an internet based E-mail message, or a myriad of other occasions)? It's really starting to aggravate me - how do I make it STOP?!?! TIA, 1313 |

As for browsers, you don't mention which one you are using. If you aren't using firefox, I would suggest you switch to it. It's free and you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ |

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week. Seriously, Mike W. and I were just discussing that issue a couple of days ago(remember Amber Mike!!) Seems my computer is slowest at the times when I need it to be the fastest. Sometimes I think it can sense that I am in a hurry. If you are not running Mozilla, I would suggest it also. My internet connection is through AOL(AOhell). But after I get online I switch over to M. Firefox, and it just been upgraded also! |

Ctrl+Alt+Delete See what program is NOT RESPONDING and close it. This usually happens when you start running out of RAM memory, so you may want to add more to the computer. If you don't want to spend $, close down all unnecessary programs to save memory space. Re-booting the computer also helps to clean up running programs. If that doesn't work, get a 5 pound hammer! Jim, that was a good one! |

Another option for general PC cleanup: start-->run--> type "msconfig" click ok, go to startup tab, uncheck everything you don't want. On winXP you can uncheck everything. On a win98 machine you'll need to leave the system tray (systray), task monitor (taskmon) and scan registry (scanreg) checked for the machine to run. When you've got everything unchecked click apply, then ok-- it'll ask you for a restart. While it's restarting press F8 repeatedly until windows asks if you want to boot into safe mode. Select safe mode with networking, let windows come up into safe mode, then go to trendmicro.com and run their free virus scan. Make sure it deletes/cleans anything it finds and then reboot the PC normally. It should speed up the overall performance of your machine normally. Another option when you're short on ram is to go into the CMOS (usually press delete or F2 while booting, watch for screen to say "press xxx to enter setup" ) and turn the VGA/video memory sharing to the minimum (usually 8mb). General rule of thumb for memory: win98 should have 256mb, winXP should have 512mb. You can get away with less, but those are the minimum recommended amounts. You can see how much memory you have available by right-clicking on "my computer" and selecting properties. If you do decide to bump up the memory be sure to check newegg.com or tigerdirect.com for prices. They're usually substantially cheaper than best buy, office max, etc. I've found newegg to be cheaper than tiger most of the time, but tiger has a retail store in Raleigh on Capital blvd, so you get to skip the shipping costs. Tiger currently has a special on 512mb of PC3200 (DDR400) for $29. (Message edited by spike on December 09, 2005) |

Dumping all things Micro$oft makes your computing life much better. I'd recommend that you immediately install Linux, or BSD, and roll with it. G2 |

Dumping all things Micro$oft makes your computing life much better. I couldn't agree more. But I was hesitant to recomend that. The culture shock of switching operating systems is a bit severe. |

The culture shock of switching operating systems is a bit severe. A colleague of mine from Germany switched to Linux during his time here in the US. He had nothing but good things to say about it. The only problem in me seriously considering it is if I don't even know enough to fix what I have now, what's going to happen for someone like me with an operating system that only 'the chosen few' know about? 1313 |

Hello C-3'ers 1313 (thanks!) clued me in to your section of the bad web. I'm Andyh, aka hotrats. lurked for about a year now, past time for me to say hello. I'm hoping to get to know and ride with some of the posters here. I live in Eden, north of Greensboro. If anyone is coming thru, send a note, and the beer is on me. I read the post about a spring time ride to Morrow Mountain/Albermarle - please count me in. My daughter (14yo)lives there, and I'm from there. Also - the BEST BBQ in the WORLD is cooked there (ok - I'm a little partial). Looking forward to getting to know some local people with this Buell addiction andyh |

Ray's now have some Buell shirts and new black hats in. I like the black shirts with the big blue Buell oval on the front.I'm still trying to get caught up on all the missed riding the last couple of months. See ya on the road. |

Hey Gramps, you riding today? I went out. I've been sick the last few days and haven't been able to ride. I hated being inside yesterday. But today I'm well enought that Rebecca and I went riding for a little while. Hows your healing going? |

Hey Andy - Welcome to the group. Eden sounds familiar, I think I've either seen an exit for it or driven though it. I don't remember any particulars about it though. Is it anywhere near King? I'm pleased so many people like the Morrow Mtn idea. Now I need to make some more concrete plans and pick dates and see if we can come up with something that fits everyones schedule. |

The only problem in me seriously considering it is if I don't even know enough to fix what I have now, what's going to happen for someone like me with an operating system that only 'the chosen few' know about? You might be in a good position to try it. People who have invested a lot of time learning Windows find the differences between Windows and Linux annoying. You aren't in that boat. You will find that the whole world assumes you are using windows. It's actually a lot like buying Buell suff in a Harley shop. But there are definitly Badweb equvalents in that world, where you can get your problems straightened out. |

Hi Andy, welcome. I hope we get a chance to ride together. My father-in-law has a mountain get-away just North West of you in Fancy Gap Va. We want to get a ride together there in the spring with the C3 group. Hope you can join us. Gramps, glad to hear you are up and around. Like Jim I'm wondering if you were able to get out on the bike yet? I rode to church this morning on the M2 and around Greenville to do some chores for about fifty miles. I love riding this time a year. I am still waiting on parts for the Uly, but Kristi called Dave S. and I should have parts this week. So I hope by next weekend the Uly will be back up and running. |

Thanks for asking about me. I have gone out riding a few times the last couple of weeks. Riding is easy- walking is the hard part.I have been back to work the last two weeks. Don't know how I use to work day after day. Five days in a row and I need some time off. Got my skates on and skated for a while last week. That wasn't too bad. I don't really have much memory loss anymore but I did notice I have my underwear on backwards today. No real problem I just walk backwards some of the time and no one will notice. That may be just from age tho. |

Welcome Andy, I'm glad you saw my follow up to your post in the Guest Book. I look forward to riding with you. I was unaware that Carlos had plans to repeat our adventures this spring. Looks like it will be a busy spring... Looks like it will be a busy spring... Gramps, Good to hear that you are progressing in your recovery. That underwear on backwards thing is funny! Now I will know the real deal if you ever start walking backwards when I'm around. Jim (Nance), I'm gonna have to send you a PM one of these days - for some reason I don't have your E-mail address. BTW, I've been using Mozilla since this weekend. So far, so good. Carlos, Regarding the rattling rotor on your M2. I have something that you may be interested in, but this time there's a slight catch... Call me and we'll discuss. Spike, Just because I like taunting you with Red XB12R stuff that is unobtainable, here's a pic I scrounged off the net a while back: I've been waiting for the right opportunity to post it. Since you've been 'bitching' (or whining, or whatever) about WalMart so much lately I thought this would divert your attention. A least for a little while. 1313 P.S. Don't ask me about the magazine. I couldn't find anything out other than they are apparently up to Volume 7 of this Buell Magazine. Although my lack on intel might be due to the fact that I can't read the language it's in, nor any website that appeared to have any information about it... In my quest to make winter riding more comfortable I came across this: http://www.bluecollarworkwear.com/carhartt-coveralls.php * 12-ounce, firm-hand, 100% ring-spun cotton duck * Water-repellent (re-treat after washing) * Arctic weight nylon quilt lining * Corduroy top collar with snaps under collar for optional hood * Two-way zipper front has wind flap with snap closure * Two chest pockets with flap and hook and loop closure * Two-way leg zippers open to waist with protective wind flaps and snap closure $116 * 100% Cordura® nylon in 1000 denier for the utmost durability * Water-repellent polyurethane finish * Arctic weight nylon quilt lining * Snaps under collar for optional hood * Two-way zipper front has wind flap with snap closure to seal out cold air * Two chest pockets * One inside welt pocket with zipper closures for secure storage * Inside patch pocket with hook and loop closure on left side for added convenience * Two quarter-top pockets * Double knees for added durability * Two-way leg zippers open to waist with protective wind flap with snap closure $144 The price is a bit steep, but the "arctic weight nylon quilt lining" sounds toasty. I saw a billboard for a Carhartt store on my way back from Dunn last week, not sure where the store actually was located. |

I tried the Carhartt one piece and I believe it was the heavy duty one. I was not impressed as the wind passed right through. I've had much better results from the Motoline husky suit. |

For the past couple of years I have been wearing a Joe Rocket Ballistic jacket and the Ballistic pants. The jacket is the longer one that comes down to your hips and it's the Buell blue and black. Both keep me warm and protected. Pants have shin guards that keep the flying stones and the debris from hurting when you on the hwy. Both are waterproof. Think together they were about $200. |
