Gramps, good to hear it. I can only imagine having to wait so long to get back up on your feet, skates and bike. Hell, I've been off the bike five days and can't wait to get back on it. Ah, the Mel Gibson part, just burn any old pictures so no one will know the difference. |

Good to see you're on the mend Gramps! The IMS can be done on the cheap. Brankin and I both know that because we're both cheap skates. Tickets to the show are $13, we can eat at Burger King, and it's cheap to ride the train from Fredricksburg into DC. I think last year I spent a total of $60 and I paid all the gas. If we go as a group, split the fuel costs, and eat cheap(how much does a BIG bag of Doritos cost?) everyone can get away having a good time on little funds. Besides, if you go, Buell's giving away T-shirts if you present them with your VIN. (Message edited by aydenxb9 on November 27, 2005) |

Brankin and I both know that because we're both cheap skates. Hey, I resemble that remark! I paid all the gas. I thought I gave you money for gas. Maybe our encounters with all the UFO's coming back has affected my memory, though... And regarding the amusement park we passed, I still ain't amused... 1313 |

Cold? Ah lets ride up so we can explore on the way up! I've ordered spikes (Not related to Mike) for the Uly tires so Ice racing is a definite possibility! Who's in! |

Carlos, I thought we already had this discussion.......... Brankin, man, don't let facts get in the way of a good sales pitch! Thinking back, I think you did. Either way, it was still a cheap, fun day. We even got our money's worth out of the train ride too. |

First off, who would to be Carlos's support staff? So far, he's broken more parts on the Uly than he has on the M2, which he curses for a simple fluid leak. Sorry, Dave. Didn't realize it was part of the sales pitch. I may be cheap, but I play fair and am an honest man (low standards maybe, but still honest...). If your sales pitch doesn't get 'em, maybe the following display will. Last years gig: There's only so much sight-seeing you can do from the train. Since I had never been to DC before I musta looked like a tourist taking pictures of darn near everything. With all my honesty I was surprised that this was as close as I could get to the White House (or is it the Capitol?). Same for the Washington Monument. For that matter, I'm surprised I was even able to take these pics. Cool architecture. Enough sightseeing, time for the show: The slogan on the main part of the Buell display read 'Every Road. Every Turn. Every Time.' Can you believe the subliminal advertising for a product that wouldn't be launched for another 6 months? I took this shot because of how hard we worked to get everything that said 'Harley-Davidson' off the S2. In case you didn't realize, the S2 belt (the same as a Sportster belt) had an H-D bar and shield on it because the S2 'wasn't a Sportster'. I still have a sample length of belt with variations in printing color that was used to finalize the S2 belt 'design'. Who says the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree? Red-Eyed Dave posing on a yellow 'bolt. Some other interesting tidbits from last years show. I'm surprised that Honda didn't name this bike the Interceptor (maybe Ford has the trademark on it for law enforcement)... And even some old school Buell class with a 2000 Red Race Stripe X1 used to demonstrate/advertise a wheel chocking system. So, now who's up for this years show? 1313 |

1313- Any chance you can pull some strings and get me one of those "amber waves of asphalt" Firebolt posters? I'd gladly trade for one of my "so wicked, they're numbered" X1 race stripe posters . . . assuming you don't already have enough of those. Mike |

Spike (a.k.a. Mike), I don't think that is something that I could have pulled off even when I was working for Buell. As you can see from this 'undoctored' picture below, things ain't always as they seem... Instead of being posters, both of the 12's shots are actually walls. If you look closely you can see the outline of a door on the 12R wall. This gives me a cool idea though. Wouldn't it be cool to paint a wall of your garage to look like the background of the wall in question? Then everytime you go out to the garage it would be like the wall, but with a 3D 12R... Talk about performance art! Display items, especially from IMS shows, are hard to come up with but I will see if I can put some feelers out the next opportunity I get (but it may not be until I am home for Christmas - when Buell will be closed for the holidays). If you want to paint the background on one of the walls on your garage, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand with that too, as I think it would kick ! 1313 |

Posters, walls, whatever. I mean, if you're just not willing to help a buddy out . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Kidding of course, but seriously, I love the Buell marketing stuff. They manage a direct hit on what made me buy the bike in the first place. Being arguably the best handling street bike on the planet played a big role, but the main reason I love Buells is because they're cool. And not just any old cool either, I'm talking Rex-Kwon-Do, roundhouse-kick-to-the-face-with-some-American-flag-pants-on cool. . . . perhaps I've been working too hard. |

Spike, pants-on pants DEFINITELY on! FWIW, I tried calling one of my buddies back home tonight and he left today for the IMS show in Seattle. I don't know if I will get a chance to talk to him before the 23rd when we will be having a good old traditional Milwaukee Friday Night Fish Fry. I'm not promising anything but I will see what I can do. BTW, what's this about hospitalizing a jaywalking predestrian? How high did he fly? January 11-13? What calendar are you looking at (I hope it's not the badweb one)? IMS Show Schedule The link says the 13-15 of January for the DC IMS. I agree that Saturday would be the best choice, though. 1313 |

Did that sometime around August. Was traveling through downtown Raleigh and the guy walked right out in front of me. I clamped on the front brake and stoppied into him. I don't think I hit him that hard, but it knocked him down and he hit his head. They took him away in an ambulance. The cop took all my information and sent me on my way. I found out later that they gave the guy a ticket for jaywalking. I looked up NC pedestrian laws, if he's not in a crosswalk he has to yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic. He clearly wasn't in a crosswalk and that's stated in the police report, so I should be in good shape. However, this guy did call the law offices of James Scott Farrin (yes, that corny guy from TV with the "hurtline" ads). I'll let you know how it turns out. |

I got rid of they Cyclone yesterday. I did it because of a lot of soul searching I've been doing lately. Lots of things have happened this year. I got divorced. I've had several friends who really aren't that much older than me diagnosed with Cancer. Two people on this board died. And finally I discovered I had diabetes. Its all made me realize that life is short and there is no gurantee you will make it till tomorrow. Which means you shouldn't put the things you want to do off till tomorrow, because they may never happen. So I had to adjust my priorities. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

It is not actually in my garrage yet, but they have my M2 and Geico is already insuring the bike. I should have it tonight, if I can figure out what to do with the kids while I sign the papers, otherwise it will be tomorrow morning. Eric W, the sales manager, said to just bring my kids with me. The visions of my 5 yo running around the dealership with minimal supervision send chills down my spine. Thanks for your vote of confidence. It's nice to know other people don't think I'm crazy. I do like the bike. |

It's home now! I didn't think I was going to make it in time. I walked in the dealership at 5:30. By the time I left, they had been closed for an hour and a half. A question for you Dave. One of the extended warantee plans they offered covered services and tires for 3 years. I'm generally of the opinion that extra warantees are a bad deal, so I passed. They made it sound like a great deal though, but the numbers were comming at me too fast to really look at them. What do you think? Larry - Thanks, enjoy the toy run. I'd probably do it myself, but I have to take my daughter to play practice tomorrow morning. Kristi - Thanks. Rebecca says hi. Carlos - You really got spikes? I thought that was a joke. Rubberdown - Rebecca pointed out that this is my third bike in 17 months. I thought of you. Mike - So you have to break it in. Thats a nice perk! |
