Hey Ya’ll! Great ride this last weekend. It was really good to see some of my old buddies again, and make a few new buddies. I couldn’t put it in better words than Kurt did. It was just a great day. I started getting so tired on the way to Leland and the ride home was just brutal. I wish my buell was some sort of transformer that can turn into a self piloting luxury helicopter to take me back home! Glad everyone made it back OK. I needed a little more time at that Oasis. I have a couple of questions for you techies out there and or folks who actually purchased a manual. 1.) What is the gap spec for spark plugs for an X1??? 2.) OK! It looks like I over filled my primary. I have never had a puking problem before, but I had always measured about 9/10ths of a quart after a full drain. Well this time, in order to be economic because I need 2 quarts for my four wheelers tranny and a quart for the rear-end, I decided to by a gallon. So I did the procedure where you remove the primary cover and fill it until it is just starting to leak. However, I had it up on a jack stand at the time. So what exactly is the procedure? Obviously, it should be on the ground, but level? Or on the kickstand? Any help much obliged. |

zact procedure call for the bike level in both direction (touch to do, but nearly achievable if you put a rock under the sidestand, also, a rear race stand should make too much diff) fill until the fluid just touches the teeth on the clutch pack (I believe they engage the starter) measuring don't work, just fill it up to the teeth -- if you filled it til it leaked, ya got WAY too much in there course, you can always come over the the entropy lab ;-} |

Thanks Bomber, I may have to do that sometime soon! I am dropping the exhaust anyway and I am either buying or building a valve that will let me drain the primary without dropping the pipes! Your bike is looking sa-weet! I have a project plan worked out for the winter, so look out next year! Ill give ya a ring. Maybe this weekend or the next? A week night sometime? |

Billy -- yer welcome any time, bud -- give a shout to make sure we ain't out riding -- btw, ya don't gotta make a valvew -- go to a boat store, and get one of those hoses they use to transfer gas from one containment vessle to another -- bout three feet long with a little rubber bulb in the middle, which acts like a one-way siphon -- you can get almost all the primary lube outa the dear without droppin a thing -- 5 minutes! Pal -- good deal lucille -- see ya thursday |

Just a heads up to remind everyone of the BRAG meeting tomorrow. Will we be sharing the XMas party with HOG again this year? The date has been set for Sat. Dec 10th. We'll need to make a decision on this and get a tentative head count. See ya tomorrow, Sam |

Trying to put together a ride this coming Sunday (9th). Deet's here... It's a seasonal, fun destination. Don't want to spoil the surprise, so please forgive me for being light on details. Please reply as a PM or into the linked thread. (Message edited by midknyte on October 06, 2005) |

Sounds like fun. I'm in. Anyone else that did not Run the Crud, or if you did and you are not too sore, come on. We are quickly running out of rideable days for the season and Sunday is looking pretty fine. |

Guys, Just wanted you to know that I didn't abscond with the chapter funds. I had a business trip to Jolly Ole England and forgot to let anyone know. Sounds like I missed a lot of fun riding over the past couple of weeks. Talk to you later. Frank |

Frank, Most of us can't afford an expensive trip to England for the last couple weeks. Please elaborate on the status of our club funds........ Welcome back! Yes, you did miss some riding. Don't miss the chapter brunch run 23 October 2005 to Starved Rock! |

Hi, All - I'm looking for some good riding roads around Chicago/N.E. Illinois. Anyone have any advice? or favorite roads around the Windy City? I'd love to make a 200 mile round trip, maybe more depending on the weather. The highways are great for my H-D FXDL, but my XB12S needs some curves. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Ride safe. Carl |

Carl -- check out the roads in the Kettle Morraine Area in SE Wisconsin -- great riding closer to home is around the Starved Rock area -- good roads are thin on the ground round here, unless you like Sheridan Road north outa the city (slow, but nice to see how the other half lives, yes? |

Carl, Come out for the ride on the 23rd. Should be pretty close to the 200 you're looking for. Great ride there and back, most of it anyway. May be some others riding out of the city that day too. Post here to make contact. |

Carl, In what area of Chicago do you live? Based on your location, there may be some urban twisties nearby. Let me know, I may have some riding suggestions and/or places I can show you that you might find entertaining. Come ride with us 23 October 2005 out to Starved Rock. As others have mentioned above, the ride is entertaining (as it gets) and will fulfill your mileage requirements. |

Thanks, Guys, great suggestions. I wish I could ride on the 23rd, but can't make it. Hopefully, some other time. I live pretty close to IL Harley, actually, so I've got quick access to 290/88/355. Fly, if you know any urban twisties nearby, let me know. The roads I mostly ride just don't do it for me anymore. I ride my Harley out to my parents' place in Ohio twice a year -- awesome roads out there. And it's cool because my brother lives close to my folks, and he rides too. Bomber, I've been up Sheridan Rd. and up to Lake Bluff. You're right, it is nice to see how the other half lives. It's a great ride, but s-l-o-w. I'm not a speed monster, but it's nice to twist the throttle now and again, you know? Lastcyclone, I appreciate the invite. If you and some others are interested, let's set up a ride for sometime either next weekend or in early November. What do you guys say: Set up a Chicagoland ride heading out about a hundred miles for this Sunday or early November? Is there a better way to send up a post so more Chicago riders see it? Carl |

"Next weekend" (Sunday)is good, it's the chapter ride. Had a great long ride last Sunday the 9th. Found some very entertaining roads near Yorkville and Sheridan. Booked this weekend 15th & 16th. If you would like to make contact with a bigger group try <http://www.chicagolandsportbikes.com/> but you may not find many Buell riders there. Good luck. |

CB -- seriously, brother -- make a day outa it and get up to the Kettle -- hard to beat around here, and well nigh impossible to beat closer to the city -- on the slab, it'll take ya about 90 minutes or so to get to the fun -- |
