Looks like I have some work to do on the bike. I doubt I'll get the base gasket replaced but I'll still need to replace the primary gasket. Maybe I'll throw on the unpainted track bodywork. It will most definately be the "ratiest" looking Buell there Also...Palerider (Mark) said he'd like to go. He's in Denver this week so he has asked me to sign him up. Well, yeah, I'd like a set of them famous sliders I'm working on too But, on another note, I have some bad news. Just got this from Caralee at Hals... "Hey Steve. Just got some bad news. HD (Buell) pulled out of this event due to Blackhawk not giving discounts to riders. So, no Buell there, No Dan Bilanski, no me. Though Blackhawk wants it known if you still want to attend it’s $165 and you can register through Blackhawk. On another note, I saw Leon Winfrey the other day. He (Private Track Time) is having a track day Sunday Sept. 11th (I think). He’s looking for people. He’s supposed to stop by and give me info. He also mentioned he’d give a discount. SORRY! Thanks for all the quick responses. " So, doesn't look like I'm going on the 14th. I'll find out what kind of discount Leon is gonna give for Sunday.

Bummer Alert!!! Washington County must have read those "I survived HogsBack" T-Shirts and decided they should do something about it. Gone is the hump on HogsBack that allowed for those graceful roll on wheelies and some major air for some of the more adventurous types. I believe we should start a petition that they rename the road "Baby Back" as all it resembles now is a kiddie ride at DizzyLand. Seems the message on those T-shirts did more damage than good. Translation, keep your favorite riding spots low key and counsel the reckless riders yourself as part of the "Save our Roads" thing. Heck, probably the same reason I have read all the reports about the superslabs planned in and around Deals Gap. |

What did they do, regrade and repave the hump and hill? They probably removed all the car bumper gouges at the bottom of it as well. By the way, I've never seen one of those t-shirts anywhere so it was probably due to something else, like an accident with a resident perhaps? I know I wouldn't want to be backing a trailer into the driveway of the house at the bottom of the hill/hump. |

Mike...From west to east, the hump is history which makes the rest appear as a gentle slightly uphill ride. Road open to local traffic only signs still up and lots of sand on the road. Yeah, I always wondered about that house. Sure is nice digs but I am confident they have seen their fair share of accidents and extreme noise. Same holds true for the folks on the east end of Hogsback. I imagine the folks living on both ends of Hogsback are going to see even more accidents now as the hump slowed a lot of riders down sort of like a giant speed bump. Now, the road is a fast sweeper with a nasty ending in each direction. FYI, the T-shirts, etc., are/were available at the gas station at the intersection of Hwy's 167 & 83 as well as a few other local businesses in the Erin Township. As Bomber suggested, enjoy the area before it is turned into a gated community. |

One reason I don't push things too hard out there is because of bicyclists and runners and kids and horses and dogs and such who also enjoy their own versions of a romp through the area. I don't think gates are coming, but wouldn't be surprised to hear of a few stopwatch timed speed traps where an officer will run a lap at the specified speed limit and then use that time as a baseline to hand out invitations to traffic court. And if that happens I expect to see ralley-types of riders gathered at the final turns with their own stop watches in hand waiting for their own specified safe arrival time whereby the new goal will be who has the most time to spare/wait/cool-down. Oh well, life goes on at an adjusted pace. |

Oh well, life goes on at an adjusted pace. Oh so true. I actually was on the Wide Glide doing a nature boy version of a mental health day. Translation: snail's pace with lots of stops with short hikes. Just not a Buell Day, if you get my drift. |

Brew City's Kettle Moraine ride is tomorrow. Meet at Hal's HD at 2PM, kickstands up at 2:30. I like the Saturday rides. Get a lot of weird looks from the Harley crowd at Hals |

I know it's kind of short notice but I'm having a Sportbike day at the dealership Oct 8th,10-3:00 I had about a day to put this together. You can help me pull it off by coming! So far I have planned, Sportbike bike show Helmet toss contest, men's and women's, see who can throw my old helmet the farthest. Burn out pit available for those so inclined, it's almost winter here in Wisconsin so might as well burn that tire! Specials on bikes,t-shirts,hooded sweatshirts, parts Buell demo rides! Food of some sort, not sure yet. Band? Working on it. More details to come. Who can come? Anyone want to help me? |

From another thread Steve wrote:
quote:Yes it does look like a nice bike. The wheel can be fixed cheaply and relatively easy, if'n ya have access to a machine shop. And it just so happens, I do It would be a bike for the wife. Her skills have certainly outgrown the Blast now. I'm still himmin' and hawin' over what to do. Buy a new '04 or '05 12SCG, or a used tuber...
I'd still consider trading a 'tuber for a cruiser. We're probably picking up the Sportster I'd posted in the classifieds. Will probably be looking for some mid-controls to pull the forward controls back some, and for a slightly taller passenger backrest. The dragbars seem like they'll do if I can rotate the clutch and brake lever around some. Might also be looking for a 2into1 exhaust for it. Maybe a different seat too. Don't know yet, will have to put a couple miles on it first. Oh well, life goes on and every once in awhile someone throws you a curve ball near beaner that you just have to roll with. All should settle out though, just have to maybe reduce the stable some though, or maybe just sell off a couple of bicycles. Anyway, starting to ramble on here so I'll end. |

Sorry, no cruisers to trade now But that M2 is enticing. Right price, and setup similar to how the wife and I talked about setting one up. S3 fairing, etc.. I've got the S3 bag brackets. Actually 2 of 'em. And some extra hard bags. Like I said, just still himmin' and hawin'. NEW '05 12SCG or used tuber... |

For the price of the used 'tuber you could get almost four of them. Now would she rather have one 12scg or four 'tubers????? The Sportster will become a cruiser, just don't tell anyone on the XL-list. No fringe or tassles though, and probably have less chrome on it by the time I'm done with it. Or I'll just let her do what she wants with it and just maybe she'll eventually want to start riding it herself. That Appleton M2/S3 does sound like a good deal though. Leave now and you could have it home by 8pm or so. |

Ya know, if'n ya want your wife to learn to ride. I'll have a Blast you can borrow. We are keeping the blast for just that reason. |

Sorry to cut in and eaves drop on you guys. The bike truly is nice once you get over the wheel bearing problem. My taste in motorcycles is shifting a bit and the Buell is a different machine than what I really want. I really want to move on the bike and the price is somewhat negotiable, so make me an offer. If you are near the Milwaukee area, its only about 1.5 hours to my house. Feel free to give me a call if you want more info. 920-858-3873 Thanks, Tom |

No problem with the eaves dropping, I just didn't want to clutter up your classified with the back and forth banter. I'll just step aside now and let you and Steve talk some. |

Okay here is the deal........... If I can get my butt out of bed early enough tomorrow I will be at Hal's to ride to Pine Bluff with all of you. If I don't get up early enough I will ride your route in reverse until I meet up with you. Don't wait for me at Hal's............if I am there, I will be there. |

I hope everyone made it home safe. Sorry I had to bug out early. Just have to do things that way sometimes. Why was everyone stopping on the way out of Pine Bluff, when I passed??? It was good to see Steve, Steve, Toni, Dave, CJ, and Nancy. It was also nice to meet Dora, Matt, Greg(?). Due to the up coming move, I probably won't see most of you until the spring. Ride Safe. |

Hey Aaron, it was great seein' you again too. Why was everyone stopping on the way out of Pine Bluff, when I passed??? We kinda lost half the group and were waitin' for them to caught up, of course they decided to turn where we should have, but we did get together at the gas station. There's Some great roads over there. You and that "Windeater" will have to get together and check um out. I wonder why him and Mrs. Windeater weren't out there? You and that "Windeater" Who? The guy that followed me back to the highway? I assume you are calling him a "windeater" because of his lack of helmet? I ride up towards Spring Green when I get a chance. I have a college buddy that lives in Janesville. He and I ride out that way when we have time. He actually rides a buell as well, thanks to me about 4 years ago!! Nice job at the drag strip!!!! |
