For us North East Coasters, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a northern route via harvard, il. IL-176, and catch up wtih the group in Beloit. It doesn't make much sense to go all the way south to Shaumburg then back north again. For me, there is no easy way to Belvedere except by helicopter! |

Good to see so many people interested in a ride this Sunday. Weather report still looks good! Here are answers to several question: Belvidere Oasis is located on I-90 tollway in Belvidere, IL (go figure) about 50 miles west of Chicago. It's damn close to Rockford. Estimated ride time (legal speed) from Chicago O'Hare area is 60 minutes. For Oasis details, see 181717,53_181806&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL#locations,http://www.illinoistollway .com/portal/page?_pageid=53,181717,53_181806&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL#location s For Tollway map details, see 181193,53_181218:53_181262&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL,http://www.illinoistollway .com/portal/page?_pageid=53,181193,53_181218:53_181262&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTA L For mapquest information, see http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rs res=1&1a=&1c=des+Plaines&1s=il&1z=&2a=&2c=belvidere&2s=il&2z= So for you late-starters (like myself!), this means you need to be on the road out of Chicago by 6:30am to make it to Belvidere by 7:30am. Damn, what have I done with my stupid suggestions Bomber, I will see you at Belvidere Oasis at 7:30am. RedDuc, I live is SW burbs (Homer Glen), so talk to me if you want to ride out to Belvidere together. Post here, or 708 373-5445 anytime. |

My plan as of right now is to go straight to the oasis. I had it in my head that we were all meeting at the oasis, even those that met at Woodfield first. Max- The Woodfield group might not go west on 90?? |

streets of woodfield is a little too close to the Mall (AKA, Walled City) for me -- the shopping vibes are horrific in the neck o the woods ;-} I'll just slab to the oasis, gas up, and be ready to blow on through to Pine bluff (for curd run newbies, I suggest you gas up at the intersection of 12 and County S -- with luck, it'll be a hunnert miles or so before you see a pump that's open |

10 bikes out, 10 bikes back. Not a bad showing for the Crud Run. It was great to see, ride or meet up with everyone who made the trip. I really did have a good time. The roads and weather were great while riding the good stuff. Got slightly wet and congested on the return trip, but not too bad. Basically, a great outing. Thanks Bomber and Bobby for planning and leading the absolutely satisfying route between Pine Bluff and Leland. That was 50 miles of continuous sport bike riding nirvana. Truly fun. For those that didn't make it, picture this......The temperature is perfect with overcast skies so it's not glaring bright. The group of 5-7 bikes spreads out single file and slithers forward like a snake fast upon its' prey. The leaders set an aggressive, but sane (your opinion may vary ) pace. Traffic is non-existent. The riders in front continually disappear over sharp changes in elevation, curves or both. Lean left, lean right, get on the gas and behold the beauty unfolding in front as you glance the magnificent scenery and watch the leaders dip out of view into yet another corner. Over and over again........ See what you missed? |

great ride, everyone! while we did get split up a bit in the middle (should we have a rider's meetring to discuss in the future, and hold the point rider responsibile for waiting for the end of the slithering snake?), no fouls or errors (as you say, 10 out, 10 back, and it was pretty much the same 10!) thanks to all for the great riding and comradship! |

That was my first Crud Run and it was more fun than I expected, even with the rain delay on the way back. Very accurate description, Curt. Thanks to all and I'll see you on Thursday! |

Thanx again all for a good time. Bobby |

Hey Bobby it was great to meet and ride with you (I'm on Felix the Cat X1). I gotta say that I'd be as sore too if I were on that stock X1 torture saddle. Think about that Corbin/Buell saddle (old part #51890-00Y). You can still find them pretty cheap on Ebay and they make a WORLD of difference, right Tim? |
