1313, I did a few mods to my M2, nothing major. It had a DIY fender eliminator, trimmed up belt guards, excess plastic removed, bar-end mirror, wrinkle-black cam cover and primary cover, pegasus timing cover, polished header, some other polished aluminum stuff, black forcewinder, supertrapp IDS exhaust, lightning cams, traction grips, yodude flytrap, and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting right now. It also had the whole list of '99-'02 upgrade parts including the primary chain tensioner, shift detent plate, shifter, isolators, etc. The more I think about it, the more I miss my Cyclone. It was a really awesome bike. I wish I could have afforded to keep it, but I had to make room for the XB. At some point I think it would be really cool to buy it back, it was my first Buell and I bought it when it only had about 800 miles on it. Here are some pictures of it. **Edit: Fun notes about uploading pictures- What photoshop 6.0 considers to be under 60kb is not necessarily the same as what badweb considers to be under 60kb. Also, you can not add more pictures to your post using the edit post feature. (Message edited by spike on August 31, 2005) |

Spike, Check your E-mail. Just sent you one. That is one SWEET M2! I see it has one of my pet peeves on it - a front rotor and carrier that are not in line with the spokes. Only a cosmetic issue as it functions just as well in this orientation. I built a fixture to ensure that the rotor and carrier lined up properly (which had to be modified for every front rotor and carrier design change) but somehow there were still some getting made that way. I remember during one of my Blast! test trips to APG (Ford's Arizona Proving Grounds) walking into Las Vegas H-D/Buell to see nearly half of the brand new Buell's on the showroom floor with 'twisted rotors'. I don't know if they were 'hospital' bikes - bikes not completely built due to parts shortages, with the needed parts being added later - or what, but it is still something that irks me. And here Court called me the Anti-Samarzja...Besides the Red White and Blue garb my S2 had for a while kinda reminded me (and Scott Miller, too, for that matter) of the 70's road racing Javelin's red white and blue paint schemes. I guess I got the color order backwards...Oh well, I'm supposed to be too young to know about stuff like this anyways... Can you tell it was a long day at work for me??? Oh yeah, thanks for the tip about adding pictures via editing the message, I didn't know that before. 1313 |

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but I heard a rumor today that Shelton's may be dropping the Buell line. Anybody know for sure? I heard another rumor that Ray Price is looking to get serious about Buells. Apparently they're looking into having the Buell Demo truck come in for an event and possibly have the Buell stunt team perform. |

That would be kind of ironic. I've been considering taking my Bikes to Shelton's because I heard they were better with Buells. I haven't done it yet because Sheltons is 20 miles away and Ray Price is a 5 minute ride. That being said, I have never personally had any reason to complain about Ray Price service. My bike has always run noticably better when I picked it up from them. They have it now actually. The Blast started squirting tranny oil onto the swing arm. You don't know how much the rear brake helps until you get the disk oiled down nicely :-) |

Hmmm... 1. I think it would be terribly difficult for Shelton's to give up Buell considering how they now have the Rider's Edge dealio. One criteria for Rider's Edge (if I remember correctly) is that the dealership carry Buell (it may be just the Blast!). 2. After my experiences today I wouldn't mind a bit if Shelton's were to drop Buell. I called at ~12:30 p.m. today to see about a new speedo cable for the S2 (I was WAY too busy yesterday and working until 7:45). I provided the part number from my S2 parts book for the speedo cable and it sounded like he ran the number (with Buell's conformance to H-D style numbers I was sure there would be a different number for it now), and I mentioned that a 1998 Lightning speedo cable fits as well (but didn't remember if it is the same part number or not). I also wanted to find out some info on a replacement saddlebag latch as one of mine gave out prior to leaving for Virgina with Carlos last weekend. Ideally I would've driven there looked at the parts manual for the S3 bags myself and told the moron what part number I needed, but since I don't have the time (and now expendable cash for non-essential road trips) I asked if he could fax me a copy of a page or two out of a parts book. When I had multiple parts to inquire about he said 'Let's just work on the speedo cable first. I will have to research what dealers have the part, and I will give you a call back in 30 minutes.' Since I hadn't received a call back, before I left work at 7:00 tonight (I wouldn't be home before they closed due to some errands I had to run) I called again and the person I spoke to earlier was tied up at the time, but said that he would call me back in a couple of minutes. Do you think I got a call back from the corksucker? Really confidence inspiring in my book! After today's experience I would not mind a bit taking my Buell (and H-D) business elsewhere. Hmmm, Jacksonville is probably closer to me, and Old Maple Hill Road is just a hop, skip and a jump away from New River H-D/Buell...Entertaining riding a bonus everytime I go to the dealer...plus a majority of the riding to Jacksonville and back can be made fairly entertaining... 3. The topper in my book. The (I can't say this on a family board) won't even put up a damn Buell sign. How many times I drove by their store in Goldsboro and seeing only the H-D barf and shill...er, bar and shield I saw no reason to go in there. It wasn't until Dave started working there that I realized they were a Buell dealer. I guess I'm just used to dealers that know who I am (not that I am anyone special), know that I know what I am talking about, know that I probably know more about Buell (and H-D) than they could ever hope to know about H-D alone, and do not treat the Buell business as an afterthought. How much can shipping be on a speedo cable and a saddlebag latch? Maybe a call to Uke's is in order. Keith (the owner and founder's son) has always been a big supporter of Buell, and the museum in the dealership probably has more Buell stuff than H-D stuff. Hmmm, maybe I will give Uke's call tomorrow and see if they can take care of me quicker, with less hastle, and will definitely appreciate my business. Did I vent, or did I vent? Don't know if it's because of the hectic work schedule lately or my S2 speedo cable breaking or if I'm just a bitter old man in training, but today's events certainly did not provide any customer satisfaction. 1313 |

Sorry for being so quiet as of late, but I've been on a long strange trip trying to find a job and it has had most of my attention for some time now. The rumor about Shelton's dropping Buell has been going around now for quite some time. It came up this time last year, and as everyone can see, was not true. With Shelton, who knows? I will talk to John and see if there's any merit to it. But with two of his three dealerships becoming Rider's Edge stores, I kinda doubt it. R.E. is tied to Buell and you can't have one without the other. Shelton is REAL high on R.E., so my guess is the Buell will stick around in his dealers for a while for what ever that's worth. Now on to the complaints about the Goldsboro dealerships' parts department-it comes up short. But it's not just a Buell problem, that's just the way that department operates. You get the same kind of service if you own a Harley. The Smithfield store is the place to call if you want someone to help over the phone. Also, if I need something that's going to require a little understanding to get ordered correctly, I call Tony at New River H-D/Buell. I hope Ray Price get serious about Buell, I hope every dealership around here gets serious about Buell. All I can say is just show support for who ever does. Larry, my prayers go out to your family, let us know how things are going. Carlos, David, the artwork looks awesome! And to thing Federal money helped design it too! I like, I like a lot! Did some one say Cincinnati Chilli!? I've got the fixins', who's got the time and the stomachs? Brandy glad to hear your husband is back, looking forward to meeting him again. And to hear he's from my old neighborhood is just too much! Long, lost Dave |

I hope Ray Price get serious about Buell, I hope every dealership around here gets serious about Buell. I was in Ray Price last week and they have moved their Buells from the back of the store up to a section right by the front door. |

Ok, I am sorry I have been out of touch. Between finding out that my car had a major transmission problem to class starting and then on top of that my Grandfather. I would like to thank you all for your well wishes and prayers, as it does seem to have helped. We were told to plan for his funeral, and instead the Doctor said he is a miracle. He will probably not be as active as before but he is still with us. As for the car, I went and got really in debt and bought a 2005 Chevy Colorado Z71 4x4. As for school...ITS JUST HARD. As for the picture I had everything going on at once and forgot it. Ok now, on my way home I stopped to get some ideas on the noise that is coming from my engine from the guys at Ray Price(seems it might be a loose primary). Anyway Larry Simpson stopped me and told me he has been put in charge of Buell at Ray Price. He said he has been told Fayetteville is dropping Buell and Sheltons is cutting back. He has been given the go light to push Buell heavily. He said they are planning a meet and greet as soon as they can plan it, with Buell riders to try and start a Brag Group. He has been given a 12S and has ordered some major custom parts(i.e. $1200 stainless exhaust). He says if we can get the interest they will let us use Ray Prices for our meetings. Get T-Shirts and have a Buell Section at the store including as Substantial as he can order Apparel and Accessories section. He has talked to tapeworks about some custom stuff, and someone he knows about leather products. He says they are already planning a stunt show and if the interest is large enough Ray said he thinks he can get Erik Buell to come to the store. So everyone needs to get on the phone tomorrow and call Larry Simpson at Ray Price to get him your vital information and call your friends and tell them to call. Maybe we can get a good Brag group together that seems to be Fracturing without Dave to guide us. If they sale more Buells then we get more members and probably more attention from the factory. Spike, A short while ago I think you originated a post asking how Buell crazy badwebbers were. I remember seeing some pics of your garage posted. Can you top this? My Labor Day Weekend project just completed (and hung in my living room) yesterday. Too bad it isn't the same color my S2 was originally, but the Black Sapphire is pretty cool though. Dave and Carlos saw it in progress, as well as how Buell (H-D and motorcycling in general) crazy I am firsthand... 1313 |

I just got a phone call from the guys at Ray Price. They want to do a meet and greet for Buell riders and riders of other sport bikes to show that they're serious about the Buell market and to generate interest for starting a BRAG club. The event will take place on September 30th from 6pm-7pm. They'll provide pizza and drinks. They asked that if you plan on attending that you RSVP with either Mike Miller (parts), Larry Simpson (sales), or Eric Wagner (sales manager). Ray Price HD/Buell 1126 S. Hey Guys, A reminder that we are going to have a BRAG meeting at the Smithfield Shelton's H/D Buell this Saturday at 1pm. We did not send in the picture to Fuell. After two attempts we still did not have everyone at the same time at the same place so Larry volunteered to have the picture cropped to add people that missed out on the last picture. With everything that was going on with Larry over the last two weeks, he had other things to worry about so I did not get the picture in time. I e-mailed Mary at Fuell and she said she already had enough BRAG groups for the November/December issue so I decide to pass for this publication. During the meeting, we can discuss trying again to get everyone for a new picture, or if Larry has the time to get the picture from his father-in-law for the meeting, we may decide to stay with it and send it in for the January/Febuary Fuell issue. We need to figure out what direction to take after the meeting. I have an idea of a route, but it is far from concrete. If you have any ideas, chime in. |

I'm in! I'll have a new rear tire and everything! What route were you considering, Carlos? Note for those in the east-Old Maple Hill Road is closed due to bridge repairs 6 miles from Hwy 50. They're installing new support pilings. Have no idea when they'll be done but I imagine as soon as they get done with the first bridge, they'll do the second bridge so OMH could be out of commission for a while. Just hope the paving job over the bridges is smooth. On the other hand, a kindly Ducati owner revealed some more decent roads in the Onslow/Duplin Co. area between Jacksonville and Beulaville. So there's more to explore there. Also, there's still a bunch of decent roads between Urnul and New Bern and points east toward Oriental, and Oriental is a neat place as a destination. Cool little fishing village/tourist haunt that's never too crowded. I usually stop and sit on the end of the pier with a cold drink or an ice cream from a store just across the road. |

Oh, almost forgot, cool wall art Brankin! 'Letta said no to me though. I'd like to have what you did on one wall, and the right side of Bob Kesolowski's Winnebago Dodge Ram #29 Craftsman Truck Series ride that another friend has on his wall on the other side of a room. Some day, I'll have a place where I can do a room as a bar and do that kind of stuff. |

Mike from Ray Price here. Just a quick post on company time, which is rare to be able to do. As for our Long demo, I will be putting miles on it this week so it should be ready for demo rides this weekend during open house. I am ready to see this and other dealerships give buellers support they want, need, and deserve, I know I try. As for ridersedge having to be a buell dealership, they recently changed that. Be sure to Rsvp if you plan on coming to the meet and greet. Should be a good time. |

If there is a problem with Shelton's and the BRAG group, NRHD has been wanting to start a BRAG group, I'm sure they would support C3 if you needed to transfer it. They have been wanting to start one and if I had stayed and not deployed they wanted me to help get one going. I know that when I return he wanted me to come back in and talk to him again, Don Thomas (NRHD). Maybe the stores in that general area need to combine support for a BRAG group, seeing how the group is combined of riders from the entire easter NC area. |

Posted elsewhere on badweb by Black Sunshine from the 3%'ers group: We will be having our annual March Badness event in N. Ga. Mountains (TWO). Sponsored by Stone Mountain H-D/Buell and our BRAG chapter (3% Bragging Rights Club). Last year was killer. Erik Buell hung out with us all weekend and we did over 300 demo rides. Cameron (CLOWN) already has a estimated date around the first of March. We will have the whole Buell line-up especially the Uly. Stay tuned to the Storm Fronts, 3%Bragging Rights Club thread for further info when the date gets closer. You can see pics on our thread from last years event. 1313 |

Hey, I figured I would throw my two cents in about at this weekend. I don't have much money to spend myself but the Duke Childrens hospital ride is this Saturday in Raleigh. And as the father of two children with life threatening illness, Duke and the doctors there have been so wonderful to my children and me and my wife. At the very least I will be paying the entry fee as it all goes to the hospital. Larry http://www.allstarride.org/ |

Wow, allot of traffic here lately, that's great. Mike, thanks for the offer. I know I would like to test an XB12Ss. I want to see how much of a M2 replacement it really is. Larry, I'm always up for a benefit ride but I will leave it up to the group if they want to go that route. If anyone wants to do the benefit ride, chime in. If we go the route of the ride we can have the meeting during lunch or something and do the Demo ride at Ray Price. Dave, If we do not go toward Raleigh I was thinking about taking the back way from Smithfield to Goldsboro. Then head toward Sleepy Creek and around to Seven Springs then turn north back toward US70 and beyond. I need to make time this week to either call or stop by Shelton's. This way I can speak on Saturday to the rumors floating around and how C3 can respond to any changes. |

O.K., let's put the rumors to rest, Shelton's H-D IS NOT going out of the Buell business according to John Martindale, the GM at the Goldsboro store. John was pretty emphatic about that when I asked him, so hopefully that's that. What becomes of C-3 is entirely up to us. I realize that things haven't gone as well as I had imagined, but considering none of us have any real experience in running a club of this type, hey we're doing O.K. I take responsiblity for a lot of it; it was my baby to birth and I feel I've dropped the ball. The new job I will be starting soon will allow me the time and the means to get involved to a much greater extent again. I understand the excitement of the members in the Triangle area towards the possibility of a BRAG chapter at Ray's and I whole heartedly support it, I will probably even become a member myself, but please don't forget us or abandon us-it is O.K. to belong to more than one chapter. For those here in the East, as far as I'm concerned, there'll be a C-3 as long as there's even a small interest. The goal all along has been to get like-minded folks together to enjoy what we enjoy. As long as that exists, there'll be C-3. Peace out, Dave |

I want to add something else, I want to say what a good job Carlos has done as director of this club. He is a busy man and has always found time to get things together and it is he who has been putting in the time to make what has been happening happen. Without him, C-3 might not even be at all right now. Carlos, thank you, Dave |

I realize that things haven't gone as well as I had imagined Dave, I don't know what you had imagined, but I just want to let you know that I have not been disapointed. I've met some great people, which was primarily what I was interested in doing. Let me ask you something, since you sort of brought it up. I was in Ray Price the other day, and they are definitly trying to get more involved with Buells. They want to start a BRAG chapter, do some events, etc. They asked me if I was interested in their BRAG chapter, and I said yes. I intened to be in both of them. For me and the rest of the people here, having more dealers involved is a great thing, and I want to encourage it. At the same time I appreciate that the dealers motivation for sponsoring BRAG clubs is to attract customers and the dealers are in competition with each other. I try and be sensitive to this. So far it's not been a real issue, but I don't want it to become one. Any comments Dave? |

I was riding home yesterday, just west of Raleigh on I-40, when someone on the opposing side of the road passed me on a bike. The bike had bags on the back that looked like hepco bags. The bike was Baracade Orange. Since our closing speed was about 160 mph and there was a concrete barrier between us, I didn't get a good look at the bike. But it sure looked like an XB12X. Anyone know if one lives around here? |

Hey, well I am glad that the rumors about Sheltons are untrue. I had called and asked and they told me no they weren't dropping Buell. As for planning things, both Carlos and Dave do very well. I hate summer is ending soon and we can't do well. But all of us have families and jobs and dozens of other things. Planning things with such a vast difference in lifestyle and time available is difficult at best, and you guys are doing fine. I don't think anyone plans on dropping the C-3 group(at least I hope not) but having a dealer actually interested in Buells closer to my Home can be nothing but a plus for me. I like all the guys in our group and I will not be dropping out, no matter what Ray Price does. Larry This weekend being an exception as Duke has been great to me and my family. Oh and Dave how was the Excursion on the road? |

Jim, I'm going to LaVale. We need to get together and make plans on how to get there. Kristi says if you want to ride the bikes up, your girl friend (sorry I did not catch the name) can ride up with Kristi in the cage. If you would rather not ride 400+miles (easy), I have a three bike trailer and my original plan was to trailer my bike up since I seriously doubt Kristi could make that distance. We can tow the bikes and the four of us can ride up together, either way. Are you going to get a Corbin seat for the M2 or is she going to ride the Blast. As far as for a Ray Price BRAG chapter, I think that's great. The area of our group is so big that I think some do not feel as part of the group. I have no problem with two C3 groups. Let's say a C3-East and C3-Central group. We could get together for big events and maybe be able to increase our numbers. Let's do it, hell I want to ride to Greensboro to find those guys, they have a BRAG chapter too. Hell that will really get things going. Also if we have enough interest, we could maybe resurrect the Statesville BRAG chapter. As far as for C3 so far, we have gone to Daytona for Bike Week, Suches GA to meet buellers from Georgia, Kentucky and Ohio (I think at one point we had 11 Buells riding the mountain roads at one time), Home Coming and Mountain voyage to US421. We are also planning a BRAG event to Lavale, I know I've had a great year. If I would improve anything I would like to stabilize our meeting date each month. I would like to do more local rides. I would like to get a C3 event calendar going so we can give others time to plan so we have more than two or three of us going on these big rides. Considering this was just the first year, I have no complaints. I hope to see everyone this Saturday at the meeting so we can talk about all these issues and go riding. See you there. |

My knees start to hurt after about 200 miles and it's not fun anymore. Rebecca isn't comming with me, she is going down to Atlanta that weekend, so it will just be me. I'm actually planning on riding the Blast rather than the M2. I ended up with both bikes needing to be serviced and get new tires at the same time. I've been commuting on the Blast since gas prices when up, so it's getting fixed up first. I'll do the M2 next month. Thanks again for the offer. It will be much more fun to ride up with you all than going by myself. |
