Good to hear from you Jaxson....I've always heard the AH controlled your life.I guess what goes in, must come out in an orderly fashion. Glad you got a handle on it. Peaceful riding that time of day....but very suspicious characters out also, plus the one's that can't see straight. Don't stare too long into that store front window...you might find an extra image on the back smiling bigger than you. |

Charlie, Just wanted to put your mind at ease and let you know Nuts is just fine. We had a great little outting yesterday at the shooting range. Even though we haven't hung out in a while, we didnt miss a beat. You know you got a true friend when you haven't seen one another in a year, yet you pick right up where you left off with no awkward silences. |

Nuts has been gifted with a child as rambunctious as myself. She keeps me awful busy, though it is nice that we share the same attention span. Motorcycling has sure taken a lower priority but I had a good run of it for a good while. I still get my 100 miles in a week. It was good catching up with the turtle hugger this week and as ever, his help was invaluable. Thanks buddy, don't be stranger for so long next time. Duty calls. NUTS |

Fellas, I had a fine opening morning in the deer woods. I was thinking about all the miles I put on Buells while waiting for the sun to come up. An hour and twelve minutes after climbing that tree I was starting to fill the freezer again. The best season for riding is upon us and I hope you have many miles before the ground gets too cold. Nuts, Lets hear some details. Although I'm no longer in the ranks of the hunting elite, I still enjoy those yarns you spin. Charlie, Now that VT was disgraced by the Crimson Tide, they should have smooth sailing with that sorry schedule they have. You know you've slid down the hill when you end up playing that type of competition. |

Jaxson, Glad to see you been sharpening your skinning knives.Since you no longer need them for hunting, your gonna use them on poor old VT.You were more compassionate when you were slicing up "Bambi".Hope you bite into a blow fly with your second hand venison. Love hearing from you. Nuts, Spin us a Davy Crockett yarn....you know we eat them up. Have you packed that young'n to the woods yet.Should be a hoot in a tree stand.Hope you have a great hunting season...our resident pacifist needs the meat. |

So there I was... Arrow nocked and waiting on the sun to let me know what kind of day it would be. After an hour of recounting all the deer I've dispatched, in all of the places, I've hunted, ,I heard a bird tickle a branch behind me. I looked over my shoulder to see the bird had turned into a doe. She paraded past within ten feet of the tree, giving me not the slightest interest. Off the hook came the bow and as I began to draw she stopped and looked my way. Holding at half draw and waiting until she buried her head to satisfy an inner leg itch, when I could complete the draw cycle and find my anchor. I knew this was a first pin shot and I knew it would be a hard quarter that I was intentionally taking. Two more steps away and small bleat stopped her and she turned just enough. The sound a broadhead makes when it takes a life is one I have become addicted to. It sounds like success, like all the time I've put into practice, and all the money I've spent on gear, all the fiddling, all the blog reading, all the anticipation comes crashing together at the tip of the arrow. That sound is not something I take lightly. (Last night I had another shot at 35 yds but didn't feel confident with it so I passed, fearing I wouldn't have the same result). The arrow struck the deer behind the last rib and exited the right side of her chest. She died after running twenty yards. In that 60 seconds she had an adrenalin dump that blocked any pain and about the time she figured out this is it, it was. Not a bad way to go. Helluva lot better than waiting for infection to condemn you in a hospital bed. By 7:30 she was in the truck, my success had been shared and my family was well on our way to stocking our meat stores for the year. In this world, I'm patient with two things: motorbikes and hunting. |

Come on Nuts, We need more drama.Like by the time I got out of the tree stand a cougar was claiming my kill, I fended him off with my Bowie knife. And he stalked me all the way back to the truck....Help me out here Jaxson. |

No help from me Charlie. I'm still in shock. I was enjoying the hell out of that story until I got to the part about where our good buddy Nuts mentions he's addicted to the sound of a broadhead taking a life. This dude has gone serial killer on us . |
