2 weeks? Well, better than me. It's been 3 weeks! Yeah, we rent an Exploder every year. It's well suited to the driving we do here. There are a lot of roads you just wouldn't go on with a car. We'll have put 2.5K on this explorer the 3 weeks we've been here. |

Kinger, Sorry to tell you the bike in the pic above is not a Knucklehead, it is an Ironhead Sportster. HD did not make a WideGlide in 1976 either. |

No problem Dave. I can't keep the current line up of HD's straight either sometimes. I may have not relayed information correctly, or they were wrong as well. Apparently what happened was the dealership lost its "charter" for one reason or another sometime in the late 80's early 90's. (Don't know the whole story) They then operated as Rock County Cycles, or something similar. The owner just started buying used/wrecked bikes, and never did much with them. There were boxes and boxes of OEM parts. This was the buyers second trip to the building and he filled a Daily Direct semi trailer with bikes and parts. Did HD make a wide glide in 86? I know a lot of the stuff was going to be put up on ebay eventually, especially the parts. Thanks for the clarification. I did see a lot of projects that could have been started...........my wife would kill me! |

Would love to root thru all that stuff myself! Not sure what year the Sporty is, my guess would be 77-78? |

by siamesed pipes, it can only be a '79 or '80. But seeing as how the triangular battery cover is actually intact(and looks in good shape), it's a '79. I don't think '80 had that cover. |

Oh, and I wasn't even home an hour, and I went for a ride. Three weeks without a Buell is too long The *ONLY* Buell we saw outside of the showroom in New England, was in Manchester, NH. A heavily customized '97 S1. And it was a dealer employees bike. Oh, and they were selling all Buells at $100 over invoice. 12S for $8599 or $8699 IIRC. |

Hey Steve, et al... Speaking of test rides on the 2006 Buell's, the Milwaukee Rally is this weekend and they are supposed to have Buell Test rides. Does anyone know if the XB12X will be in the fleet? |

Steve...Thanks, I appreciate the follow up. Figured it was a logical question as you posted on another thread that Hal's already received a shipment of 2006's. Yeah, being as vertically enhanced as you are, I think the XB12X would be a really good bike for you. |

"vertically enhanced" LOL! You make me sound like some kind of mutant? But yes, the more I look at the XB12x the more I like it. I'd like a more "refined" S3, and this is as close as it gets. The *ONLY* thing that will be a deal breaker for me, is wind protection. I'm spoiled by the S3s fairing. Coolice, I'm thinkin' 11:00AM meet at Hals. The wife and I will be maping out a route this evening. I'll post a pic/directions on my website, and post a link to it here. |

Haven't test ridden one yet, but I think I would. Caralee at Hal's said there *SHOULD* be one at the Milwaukee Rally. But she wasn't 100% sure, since all the big-wigs aren't back from the dealer meeting. |
