Don't fret Dave, where you're at the grass is probably only green three weeks a year? nice place! what no Burnout marks in the driveway? no oil spots? do you REALLY still own the Buell? You can put a smiley face on the concrete with your worn out tire....

quote:Depends also on who is going and the desired riding style. I'd like to take some fun roads on at least one leg of the trip, but have no interest in going 20mph or more over the speed limit. Perhaps someone who is going can PM me and let me know if I should go with the KC MOB or some other folks.....
I guess no answer is the same as a "you don't really want to ride with us" answer, so have fun y'all. I'll make my own way down there. Say "Hi" if we see each other. |

hey all.. I've been a long time lurker (for the best Buell related info I can find on the net.), but haven't posted much. ...Richie.. that Blue S3 at Gail's is one I traded in on an 04 Firebolt. It was my 1st Buell and I bought it on E-bay in '02 for $4700. I then bought a race-kit (1200 retail) on E-bay for $475 and installed it myself (hence the carbon fiber air cleaner cover). I took the plate bracket off and shoved the signals up behind the cool honeycomb air flow things. That's about all that was done to it. No engine work. The front tire lifts at 3500rpm 1st gear no sweat. my top speed on it's speedo 145mph... I weigh 160lbs. It's a good fixer upper, like you said, but definately not worth $6750. They gave me $4615 on the trade. |

Regicide - Hi and welcome. What was with the electrical tape on the oil cap? I guess it doesn't matter now. I wanted an S3T and tried talking myself and my wife into that bike as a project bike, but that didn't happen. 2 days ago we bought a Sportster instead. I do hope someone buys it and really fixes it up. It would be interesting to see what it sells for. I was going to offer $4,500. The Kelly Blue book (selling to a dealer) would have been $4,700 so you probably did well. |

Hey Richieg, thanks for the welcome and the info on the flat track races. I'm working 7/10's out at GM so I'm not sure how ready I'll be to go out Fri. Concerning the electrical tape... The bike would blow oil out the cap, too much pressure somewhere, if I filled it even close to the 3/4 point, SO I taped (rather than JB Weld for temporary purposes) a nut to the top of the cap. The seat almost touches the nut when installed and the cap can't raise enough to leak oil |

Now I don't pitch a bitch about much on here but I have a good one for all..I have a 1998 Harley- Davidson S model Sportster that I bought in 2000 with 5067 miles on it since then I added a Thunderheader exhaust screaming eagle ignition system , screaming eagle air breather screaming eagle .497 cams and totally refreshed the upper end - new rings and valve job and upgraded gaskets. It has 21670 miles on it with about 300 miles on the engine refresh new tires about the same miles windshield and custom seat and back rest . The bike needs nothing done to it but ridden...So anyway I approached Rosie about I was interested in the rough , blue 2001 S3 they had and she told me to bring my Sportster in and see what kind of deal we could make. They had $4715 in the S3, I bought the Sportster for $9000 in 2000, we talked when I rode it in Friday nite I told them if they gave me $ 500 and the S3 I would trade them the Sportster for it. Their counter offer was that they wanted $6250 for the S3 and would give me $5000 for my Sportster and I would owe the them $1250 , hell, they didn't even look at MY bike... I got up from the table and told them to keep the S3 that I wasn't interested in that kind of deal, I could see giving in a little as the S3 needed body work, tires, turn signal, and a few other odds and ends in other words it would cost more than the 500 to get it in proper shape even if I did all the work myself...BUT get this on the flip side they were willing to sell it to an employee for only a couple hundred dollars over what they had in it, go figure ,they would have made a better profit margin trading with me but nope no go..that's fine as far as I am concerned it will be a mighty cold cold day before I ever consider a motorcycle purchase from there , I like most of the people there but they are to money hungry for me to deal with , now I know this post will more than likely cause me problems with some of the people there as they read posts regularly here too but I had to speak my mind.. Hey its a free economy, spend your money where YOU want to.If enough money is spent ELSE WHERE,then things will change! No sales=NO sales! If I decide to buy another Buell in the future,I WONT pay 1 cent over list.List is to much!So.........I will probably go out of state to get it!Thats just a cold hard fact! |

Vote with your wallet. At another dealer, we looked at used Sportsters, all in the 2001-2003 model years. They wanted right at 2005 MSRP. Most had a tachometer or windshield added, but geeze that is too much. Yet, the salesman said the owner doesn't mind keeping them until the prices come up and they sell. Even if it takes years. Their back room was jammed with hundreds of used bikes. Lots of money tied up in there.... |
