Thanks for showing me the better way Carlos! It really shaved time off my trip (see - stil daylight by the time I made it to Wisconsin...). I will definitely have to take your way on the way back and every other time I come home. I hope you got your tire issues resoved... 1313 P.S. Anyone know where I can get a little number 1 to go in front of all those zeros? (Message edited by 1313 on May 30, 2005) |

Brankin - You don't want a little number. You just trippled the value of your bike! |

Anyone else ever ride to Morrow Mountain? It's down 24, about 100 miles from Raleigh. I went there today. Had a good ride, but wish that I had thought to arrange some company.

1313, Congrats Brankin! I am glad I was able help in this monumental occasion. As you can see, I made it home. If you want to know, I rode from KY to OH, back through KY, to WV, to VA, to NC on a back tire showing a stripe. I finally chickened out when in Bluefield WV, the stripe started to show white. I called Dave from there and met him at the HD dealership in Greensboro NC and trailered the bike from there. Seems to be a good call because the heat of the south was starting to wear the tire faster. Overall, mark it down to the "A" in BRAG. |

Carlos, Glad things worked out for you the way they did. My friend from Germany, Frank, arrived today bearing gifts - a 2 liter bottle of German beer! Tomorrow it is off to register the S3 that Frank will be borrowing and riding (the bike belongs to a friend who hasn't had a chance to register it yet), then to Uke's and Hal's and maybe even to a Yamaha dealership to see if I can replace my left mirror (D'oh! - Those Yamaha snowmobile mirrors don't give quite like the OE S2 mirrors). I know it is long past snowmobiling season, but in Wisconsin you never know... 1313 |

Hey all-1313-wish I could have caught up with you at Myrtle.(started a thread in the quick board)Look to see if your bike is there, if you went. Jim, which way did you take when you went to Morrow MTN? You know you past my house within a twenty min backroad ride! But then again I was still in PA at the time. |

Jim - I wondered if I was anywhere near you. I took 1 South, then 24 west. It was only about 100 miles. I'll probably be making that run again. The kids like to go there. I suspect a bike tour would appeal to them. |

Just got back! There were a LOT of bikes up on top and a lot of people out riding today. I didn't see any Buells though. |

Sheer words alone cannot explain the experiences I've had at this year's Homecoming. Man, I really love these roads back home - maybe I can share them with some of you during next year's Homecoming. It will probably take me quite a while to put everything together for public consumption (longer if I wait for some of the cool pics Skeeter_xb and Frank took during the festivities). Tomorrow I begin my journey back to Eastern NC, and I am hoping that with the help of Carlos's shortcut through Cincinnati I should make it into West Virginia before stopping for the night. If that target is reached, then it should be an easy day 2 back home. If I am lucky I will even be able to stop in and see Dave at Shelton's in Goldsboro (and explain the voice mail I left him on Saturday night) before his day is over on Tuesday. Could I be lucky enough to have another 3-way in Cincinnati? (Carlos may need to clarify that for some of you...) Just saw Bubba Blackwell at Uke's H-D/Buell during their 75th anniversary party today. The good news for us is that his wife's labor was induced on May 31st, so his show at New River H-D/Buell in Jacksonville on June 18th should be a definite go! Some good riding to J'ville, some cool Buell action to see, some more good riding after the show - add them together and you have the makings for one cool BRAG adventure. Who else is up for it? More when I get back home on Tuesday... 1313 |

Can't wait for the stories Brankin. Glad you had a good time up there. I'm planning on going to J'ville, but I'll be driving so I can take the kids. Anyone know what time Bubba is doing his show? |

Brankin, safe journey home and call if you get lost. In regards to the 3-way in Cincy, Dave made me do it. Dave, sound familiar? |

Got home a little later that expected but that's what you get when you roll up getting a slightly late start, off and on rain throughout Virginia and North Carolina, how the other traffic handles themselves in rain, and a couple of tourist stops. After an 11 day 2,900 mile long joourney, I must remark: I LOVE being on vacation, but I HATE coming back from vacation... Now to get caught up... 1313 |

Well, I have to say the MSF class is easier the second time you take it. But it's still exhausting. Everything hurts. I spend the day on a 250cc Honda Rebel. It was a cool little bike. It gives me a little perspective when I call my Blast a small bike now. I'm really proud of my g/f. She has never riden a bike except as a passenger. Well at least not until today. I thought she did very well. She is kind of shell shocked at the moment. Says it was harder than she was expecting it to be and is nervous about tomorrow. Thats exactly how I felt the first time I took it. |

Spike, You must've been reading my mind. I talked with Dave the other night regarding the next meeting. Since this Sunday is Father's Day it doesn't make sense to have a meeting on Sunday, so Dave thought that getting the group together and going down to the doing's at New River (with entertaining riding on the way there), some more entertaining riding afterwards on Old Maple Hill Road and having some eats at a country style restaurant (that has a very nice atmosphere) very near Old Maple Hill Road would constitute this months 'informal' meeting. Dave - feel free to correct whatever I butchered. The route that Carlos, Brandy and I took the last time we were down to Old Maple Hill Road was a nice ride. I know of a little bit more of Brices Creek Road here in New Bern which may entail a slightly different meeting spot, but some of the roads Carlos guided us on are lost in my memory banks. Carlos - care to either advise me on the roads by Maysville, or show the group on Saturday? Is anyone else up for this Saturday? Any recommendations for a place and time to meet? 1313 |

Maybe these pictures will entice some more willing participants for Saturday. Here are some pics of Bubba's performance I caught at Uke's 75th anniversary party while home for Homecoming: The shot above kind of makes me think that people with apehangers like them because it makes them feel like they are doing a constant wheelie... 1313 |

Hey Guys, I believe we originally talked about last weekend for the meeting, but everyone was busy. So this weekend on Saturday seems like a deal. I do not think I will be able to make the full ride we ran last time to Old Maple Hill Road, but I can do an abridged version. I will have a co-pilot with me this Saturday so I need to be conscious of how many miles we cover. Also the M2's back tire still has not been replaced, so I will be on the Nighthawk this weekend. If you would like, we can make the same run from New Bern to Jacksonville to Maple Hill. I believe that was the majority of the fun roads anyway. |

Hi Everyone, I hate to say it but I am going to have to miss my first meeting. My wife and son are at the National Institute Of Health in Maryland for a few days and so it's only me and the girl and of course they get back to RDU at 2:30 pm on Saturday. Hope you have fun and I hope to make the next one. Larry |

Sounds like the wife and I are driving to the beach this weekend so I'll have to pass on the ride on Saturday. I'd like to go to the CCS races at VIR next weekend but I know I'll be tied up till at least 10am on Saturday which means I can't make it to VIR until that afternoon sometime. Is anyone planning on camping at VIR that weekend? Mike Luddy, Jr. '04 XB12R |

Spike, I was planning to take the clan and camp at VIR, but nothing is final yet. If I am not mistaken, Sunday is the day to be there anyway. If everyone else is interested, we need to make plans to camp out Saturday night and stay to see the races Sunday. Who is in? Brandy, New River is the destination this time around. Bubba Blackwell will be there. Does anyone know if Tilley's crowd will be at VIR this go around? I will leave word on there board and see. Also, has anyone seen a new page for the Triad Brag Chapter from Greensboro? This would be a great time to get all three NC Brag chapters together. |

Who up for a ride tomorrow? We are going to ride at least to Jacksonville to see Bubba for the 12:00 showing. We will then hit Maple Hill and the Fish Camp for something to eat.

Hey Fellas, I'm off to Iraq again tomorrow. Thanks for the sling bag Dave, it was good to see you again. I'll be catching ya'll again later. Here's a spot for you to check out. On your way in to Jacksonville on 17 right after the road split's there is Kellum Loop Rd on the right, it's a short little run, but a couple nice curves and one mean one. Ya'll have fun and catch you later. |
