Mike,

Congrats on the new job! Growth, both personal and professional, is a very important part of the human existence. I'm glad your new job will offer both growth and more time to ride. Time to ride is also a very important part of my human existence. Another side benefit is that you no longer need to be concerned about the 'conflict of interest' of being a member of our BRAG group. Now it all makes sense on how you were able to get this weekend off for our ride to Daytona...

Let's ride!

1313,

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on my sudden time off. I posted on the 18th of February stating that I wouldn't be able to get the time off without quitting my job. Then I posted on the 24th of February stating that I had the weekend off due to a change at work. I made the latter post just a few hours after turning in my notice. I had actually been considering the job change for a few weeks at that point, but Daytona had been in the back of my mind the whole time. The timing just worked out that I accepted the new position on the evening of Wednesday the 23rd and turned in my two-week notice the morning of Thursday the 24th, leaving me with a three day weekend on the 11th through the 13th- just in time for the FX race.

My next step is to schedule the time off for homecoming with the new employer. About how long does it take to ride to Wisconsin?

Pics will be forthcoming - hopefully tonight if I can stay awake that long. I arrived home about 1:45 this morning, and even though I was able to come into work a little late the lack of sleep over the entire weekend is catching up to me.

I'd like to start a new thread within the C-3 section for the Daytona 2005 Adventure, and continue that philosophy with further C-3 adventures...BUT...I can't figure out how to do it. Does anyone know if it is possible to start a new topic/thread inside a Storm Fronts section? And if so, how?

What a great weekend!

I pulled in the garage at 12:16am feeling cold and wet. As soon as I got off of I95 I began to really wish my high beam was functional. 421 and 401 were both quite dark. I was showing ~1170 miles for the whole trip, meaning my XB averaged about 18mph non-stop from Friday morning to Sunday night. Longest day was about 570 miles. Fuel mileage ranged from 45-52mpg on the interstate down to 36mpg in holy-cow-where'd-all-these-trailers-come-from traffic. Now I'm at the new job and quite tired. Let it be known that I am now the Buell downhill-coaster-derby champion, with bonus points for the stoppie at the end. Stories will have to come at a later date. I might even start adopting Court's "remind me to tell you . . ." technique.

Quote of the weekend:

"I'm a big boy, I can handle it . . . *COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH* *HACK* *WHEEZE* *COUGH*"
-Buttercup

I guess you just had to have been there.

P.S. If I see one more touring bike on a trailer with a "live to ride" sticker, I will snap. I think I should have some "Live to ride onto the trailer" stickers made up.

I spent the weekend with the flu (again). Yours was hands down better than mine :-) I'd love to see the pictures when you get them.

Ride this Sunday before the BRAG meeting? Was thinking of starting out at Michael's and working our way east with the final stop being Shelton's.

There are some roads within 20 min of the shop that we can have some fun on. Spike, could you think of some roads on the western end of ride?

Sound like fun?

Good idea! I'm up for another trip to Michael's. I may not be on the Buell though, depends on the state of repair the M2 is in. I haven't even look at since I got back. I need to track down the oil leak before next weekend's trip to Virginia (Weather permitting).

Don't forget! BRAG meeting tomorrow at 4:00 PM at Shelton's Goldsboro. We here with the eastern contingent will be heading Chapel Hill way for breakfast at Micheal's then going on a ride that will work us back toward the east and some fun roads in and around the Wayne/Greene county area. Anyone who wants to join in we should be at Micheal's 10:30ish and are open to any adventures one can come up with!

Long time, not post. How is everyone doing? I'm sitting here at Camp Fallujah in Iraq. Since arriving I have been working non-stop and still at it. Thought I'd take a minute to say hey and let everyone know I'm doing fine. We've been so busy reloading computers, new OS', complete rebuilds, over the last month, that I've almost lost track of time. We've built over 1200 machines and they keep coming. When I get the chance I'll have to explain later, oh most of those machines were built by only 5 people. Ya'll take it easy, gotta get back to work, stay safe and carve some corners for me.

Robert, good to here from you. We miss you already and can't wait until we can ride together again. I am glad you are busy, it make the time go by faster. Be safe yourself & god bless.

As Dave has posted, we had our monthly BRAG chapter meeting. We elected, huh appointed, officers.

I pulled the short stick and have been appointed the Director (We in trouble now)

Brankin is the Asst Director

Dave is the Dealer Liaison & Treasurer

Mike is the Secretary

We discussed rides and events. Dave mentioned some local events that we could show the bikes.

We also discussed getting together for rides. I would like to get together at least once a month for a group ride locally. Any ideas?

We also have started with the long distance adventures. Brankin and I seem to have gotten a jump start this spring, I would like to see more of the group join us in the future.

- Brankin is planning a ride to Buell Home Coming
- Dave & I are planning a ride to see the Formula USA race at VIR in May.
- Dave is planning rides to the monster mile in western NC
- I am planning a weekend ride to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week in April. My wife will ride down in the cage. It's a Suburban so room for anyone's better half that doesn't want to ride three hours down there, but wants to join in the fun while there.

We are putting together a membership list with a list of email addresses. If you wish to have you name entered to list, please contact me.

I hope we can expand C3. Dave and I have talked about alternating meeting places so that all members can participate. We have talked about having some of the meetings at other Shelton's stores. There are three right now (Dave & John, help me here) There are stores in Goldsboro, Smithfield and Durham. I think the Smithfield store would be ideal since it is centrally located in the region. (Not to mention that it is at the Outlet Mall, make it a family affair) What do you think?

Let me know if you want to be added to the list. I know there are more Buellers in the Raliegh area. Please let others know of the BRAG chapter and invite friends even on X brands to join us on rides. We want to make it fun and spread the madness.

That's it for now. We are planning the next meeting to be on April 17th @ 3pm. We decide to move the monthly meetings to the third Sunday of the month since there were conflicts with the second Sunday of the Month. The location of the meeting depends on the response we get to the question of location.

Congrats Mr. Director :-)

Speaking of long distance rides, I am toying with the idea of going to the BRAG ride in Maryland which is in Auguest. Anyone else interested in going?

I am getting divorced from the owner of the pickup truck, so I guess I won't have any choice but to ride up if I'm going this year. Last year I went to Running the Ride, but I trucked the bike up to Statesville and rode it the rest of the way in.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been up for breakfast the last few weeks but I have had class in Kinston on weekends. Talked to Shelton in Smithfield just a couple of weeks ago.I was the inspector on his building.Smithfield is a good location with the shopping and a number of restaurants in the area. Looking at a new XB9SX from him. Might be there on Thursday if he can give me a good price and I'll say something to him about a meeting if ya want. I know a number of his guys ride and like the buells. He is also getting ready to build a new store in Durham in the next couple of months.Well enjoy this weather and maybe I can get over to breakfast Sunday. John

Hi Gramps, the XB9SX sounds fun. Hope that works out for you.

Dave - I need to get my M2 inspected. I'm going to take it to Sheltons in Durham. Do you know if anyone over there knows Buells?

Jim. Going over to Durham to pick up a new XB9SX Thursday afternoon. I use to have Chris in service work on my S1WL. Think he went over to the Smithfield store but everyone in Durham seamed to know a lot about buells. Both stores have a few Buells on the floor and Smithfield even has a new black M2. Forgot what the last year they were made 2002 or 2003? -John

Gramps, congratulations and thanks for buying a CityX from us. Dave Clark, your salesman used to ride a XB9 Lightning and I bought my Lightning from him. I ride Buells, obviously, and John Martindale, my boss rides a Lightning also. So welcome to the XB family! On your way back from Kinston, stop in the Goldsboro store and say hi! I'm there most of the time, and certainly on Saturdays. We're open til 6:30 PM

As Carlos has stated, we want to move the meeting place around some to get more coverage and I talked to Jeremy at Smithfield today about him letting us hold meeting there. We want to make this club as much fun and as inclusive as possible.

With that said, I extend an invitation to you and Jim to join in on the fun. Just have to be current national BRAG members, at this time, we aren't even charging any local dues, just ask that you show up for the meetings.

Robert, good to hear from you! I've been thinking about you lately, wondering how you were? Keep us posted. As you can see, we're getting the club revved up so it should be at full scream by the time you make it back stateside.

Jim, I've not had the opportunity to meet any of the service crew from the Durham store, but Shelton only hires qualified mechanics-no shade tree wannabes, so you'll be in good hands. Stop in and say hey to Dave Clark in sales. As stated above, former Bueller, hopes to be again, and a nice guy. Tell him his replacement sent ya'.

Over the holiday week-end I think I'll work on coming up with some possible routes/destinations that would make for a proper Buell ride; ) Raleigh people: i could really use your help locating and cataloging good roads in that direction. If you know of any, please e-mail me with the details....

Gramps, the M2 is a 2002, I rode it last year before I bought mine. Its a great bike. They also have two used S3. They have a 2000 with like 7000 miles on it and its a "T", bags, lower fairings and all. The 2002 M2 is new.

Good luck on the XB9SX. I hear nothing but good things about it. I really like the 9 motor. Is smooth and revs freer than the M2. I rode a XB9R in Daytona. Spike rode the CityX on the same ride. He like it too.

I will leave talking to Shelton about moving the meeting to Smithfield to Ayden since he works there. I'm glad you like the idea, I hope to hear more good comments about the idea to see if that is what we need to do. I believe there are more on the west side than the east side, so I want to make it more accessible.

Jim, Forgive me but what is going on in "Maryland"? We may want to add it to the topics and cover it during the next few meetings. If its a weekend ride or after the 12th I may be interested, all depends on what is happening.

The Maryland adventure is BRAG's Appalachian Adventure. The dates are October 5-7, and it's all about shreding roads in the northern Appalachian mountains.

The M-2 is a '02, it's a leftover from the inventory of J&E when Shelton assumed their Buell franchise. The coolest thing about it is that it has the PM wheels. It's really too good of a bike to not find a home. The '97 S-3T is sold, but we still have the 2000 at my location in Goldsboro. It's a nice piece.

Dave - The best set of roads I have found around here take you on a circle around Lake Jordan. The start of my usual run is about a mile south of Michaels, so that might be convienent. Unfortunatly, I don't know the names of the roads, so I will have to look them, but it is all on fairly rural roads with few cars and nice scenery.

M2 - Take a look at this link:

. . . well, as long as I don't have to wear a skirt. ; )

Sorry I missed the meeting, I ended up buying a new car Sunday afternoon and you know how that paperwork can go.

John- congrats on the new CityX, they're way fun to ride, even if one of the guys behind you crashes trying to keep up. : )

Jim thanks for the info, a definite possibility. I get my vacation back August 12th so its in contention. We will add it to meeting discussion and a list I would like to do on places and events members would like to go to this year.

Jim as far as for the roads, Dave, Brankin and I played a little last Sunday in that area, cool roads. You will have to guide us one weekend.

I also have to agree with you on the Appalachian Adventure, it really seems to be a ride worth doing.
