Well, not much of a group coming to the ranchito this weekend--just me & (maybe) Hootowl, so I'm not planning any big feed! I'll be out there all weekend, so if anybody wants to ride out & visit, come on. I'll be offline starting early this afternoon until sometime Monday, so if you need directions or a phone number, better post or e-mail me quick! rt |

Thanks RT, I had a great time. The 1488 route shaved about 30 miles off the trip. Good call. |

had a new tire mounted today and checked the wheel bearings and found the outer bearing has been spinning in the hub. checked the knowledge vault and posted the problem there. anyone had luck peening or knurling and gluing the bearing in or do i need to get a bushing machined and pressed in. thanks for your input. philip |

Philip: Here's a link to some previous discussion on the subject of knurling. Seems like I remember Jim in SB getting a bushing machined for the same problem. Try searching that. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/17689.html If all else fails, I've got a spare set of white marchesini's in the garage... Jeff and I missed your pies at the Ranchito on Halloween! rt |

thanks for the link r_t. looks like machining the wheel and doing the bushing thing is the way to go. i was planing to check the bearing behind the front pulley and do the crank seal and chain adjuster hoping for the best but did not expect this. oh well , it will work out. i will keep the marchesini's in mind, thanks. also i hated to miss the ranch outing but halloween got in the way. takes a while to set up the motorcycle graveyard. hopefully i can make it next time. thanks again for the help and i will let you know what happens. philip |

looks like i should have taken road_things advice about letting hootowl work on my bike for me. he probably would'nt have beat the wheel bearings out with a hammer and drift a beat up the spacer between the bearings! anyone know the length of the spacer so i can make a new one? the dealer does not show it as a separate part, only with the rear wheel assembly. thanks for any help and heap on the grief... i earned it! philip |

I will look in my parts book. Maybe they overlooked something. |

Well, I found a picture of it, but it isn't referenced in the index. No part number listed. Looks like an omission in the IPB. Perhaps a call to Buell Customer Service is in order? |

you are probably right about being an omission. i was hoping someone might have one out of the wheel to measure. did not check the knowledge vault to see if someone posted there yet. a call to buell sounds like the way to go. thanks for the research hoot. i see you used a picture from the republic battletrax for your profile. they had 4 pics of me but all of them are of the xb9 i tested and crashed! also none of the shots have me leaning over!! i still use one for my screen saver. later...philip |
