Never trust directions from Dave, he can't even get the city right. But seriously, I think it's great we have our own corner of the web to tear up when we are not carving up the corners of North Carolina. Looking forward to Michael's on Sunday (and now it's Tuesday), 1313 |

A true Tarheel would have never confused those two towns. Only Durham would have been worse. It's a ball, you put in the basket. Get it?

Come on guys, you gotta give Dave a break on the directions . . . He couldn't even get his keys from the Burger King tray to his pocket without them getting lost in the trash can. Seriously though, looking forward to Michael's on Sunday. Hope to see everyone there. Mike L. '04 XB12R |

Dave's got the good news: "The BRAG paperwork has shown up, we're on our way to being official.". I got the bad news : I won't be able to make it to Michael's this Sunday due to the fact that I can't shake this damn cold. If I'm not back to normal (hard to define for me, I know) by morning, I am going to see the doctor tomorrow to get some stuff to kick this crap out of me. You know Dave, I was thinking...So what if you're not the greatest with directions or knowing of certain cities in NC, at least you know how to say Fuquay Varina without getting arrested. Isn't that right, Carlos? I hope everyone enjoys Michael's on Sunday, and the adventure that will ensue afterwards. I will be with you all in spirit. I will just have to console myself with the fact that there will be many other opportunities to make Michael's this year. 1313 |

Oh yeah, I know Spike had mentioned possibly riding down to Daytona for the 200, which doesn't sound too of the wall to me. But are we going to do anything as a group to watch the 200 for those who stay around here? I know this is early, but perhaps it allows the time to set up something really cool... 1313 |

Well, it's 11:37 PM and here I am. Nothing new to add, I haven't been able to wrestle the C-D away from John yet. On the 200- we should be able to do something here. Thinking, thinking, thinking......... |

I really wish I could hop on the XB and ride down to Daytona just for the race, but short of quitting my job I couldn't possibly get the time off with this short of notice. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if the wife would be happy with me running to FL on this short of notice either, but that's beside the point. We should definitely get a Formula Extreme party going somewhere. Mike |

I just have to add...a TRUE tarhell-yun would never have mis-associated Wake Forest the town with Wake Forest University... |

I am iffy for Sunday. I am just getting over what Brankin has, so I too may not make it. I have been steadily improving since Thursday Night. Brankin, I can not help that the first time I saw the name, I thought I saw a "G" in it.. Now I can't get it out of my head. Also, though I'm the only one in my household with no birth right to being a Tarheel, I guess I have to explain that my earlier comment was a joke, and I do know that Wake Forest University is not in Wake Forest the town. The funny thing is that Dave did't. Hope to see everyone at Michael's, if I'm up to it. |

I have heard that WFU used to be located in Wake Forest. Then some really rich guy's (Vanderbuilt's?) daughter wanted to go there and he wanted her close to home. She he paid the university to move to Winston Salem. I don't know if that story is true, but I would like to. I just checked the WFU website, and they do mention that they were founded in Wake Forest, NC, but they don't mention why they moved. |

I'm just beginning to figure out the part of the state I live in. I'm a transplant. As far as ball and stick sports, and college ball and stick sports are concerned, I haven't a clue. I know that colleges support sports teams and can recognize a few names, but outside of that, I dunno. In sports, it's got to have wheels for me to be interested, I'm all over that, the only exception being hockey, I will watch hockey. I'll watch bowling too. On the 200, it's going to be carried live on Speed on March 12, starting @ 11 AM. Spike, for you and I that poses a problem, but the rest of the crew it could be an event. I thought about maybe something at the store but I don't think there's any access to Speed Channel there. We could hustle something up at a remote location. There's a Ham's close by and I thought about maybe putting something together there but it's short notice and I wonder if I could get enough word out to make it successful event for us, the dealer, or Ham's? Thinking................... |

Kinda sorta, Jim, Wake Forest College was in Wake Forest, which moved to Winston Salem in 1956, it became part of the University system in 1967. What used to be Wake Forest College is now the Southeast Baptist Teaching Seminary. The reason they moved was that the church owned the property the college was on, and the sports teams for the college was accepting money from big tobacco, and the church did not like that. The asked the college to stop accepting money from them, but the school didn't want to lose the funds. RJ Reynolds (who was the cause of the rift) offered land in W-S, and the school elected to move rather than give up the funds that Reynolds was throwing at them. I used to live in Wake Forest, the town, up until last year. It's just 10 minutes north of Raleigh. Its kinda cool, the church still owns the property, and left the golf course in tact. Arnold Palmer went to college at Wake Forest, while it was still in Wake Forest, and now the golf club still has some Arnie memorabilia from his college days. It's neat to play on his old course and it's CHEAP! Less than 10 bucks a round, 15 on weekends. And THATS your history lesson for the week. pang |

Southern, Good to hear from you! Keep us posted! Ayden, The coverage on Speed that starts at 11:00 is the Superbike race and the Daytona 200. Looking at the schedule for the events at Daytona the 200 doesn't start until 2:00. I hope that make enough of a difference for you and Spike to enjoy it with the rest of the group. I have to agree - somewhat - sports for me have to involve the burning of gasoline, which usually involve wheels of some sort. I am slowly starting to feel better, was actually able to eat last night and I even had something for lunch today. It just sucks that I have to rest and couldn't go to Michael's today. 1313 |

** Daytona 200 weekend, March 12-13 ** If there is interest, I would like to invite ya'll to come to the Sandhills for a cookout, watch the 200, and ride in the local twisties around Uwharrie forest. There are really some great roads in Montgomery, Richmond, Anson, Stanley, Moore, and surrounding counties. Lots of curves and elevation changes. I'm thinking folks could come Sat. mid-morning, eat and watch the race which starts at 2:00. Ride afterward and/or stay the night and ride most of Sunday. My house is in downtown Southern Pines and could bunk several people, just don't expect luxury accommodations. It would be a great time based on my experience with the Badwebbers I've met so far. Let me know of you're interested. Mike. |

David,(Southern) man, stay safe. We'll keep you up to speed on doins' here. Sunday was cool, both literally and figuratively. Micheals was a neat place, Mike and his group there Sunday are good folk. I'm looking forward to going back, this time on 2 wheels. Maybe by then, Carlos and Brankin will be over their mononucleosous. So I have to ask, what do we do next? Any ideas? Mike asked what's planned and I kinda stood there with my teeth in my mouth. "Uh, the meeting on the 13th?" This time of year sucks. I am working on something I think everyone will be excited about, I just can't say anything right now. I have to get some O.K's and sell a little, but I think I can make it happen. More on that later when I can say something for sure. Kinston Drag Strip is going to have 3 Bikefests this year, one in April, one in June, and one later in the year. The dates aren't final, so I don't have that yet but it would be a neat thing to have some Buells show up. Next weekend, the weather may be passable, so let's see what we can put together......... |

OK, someone here is a hasher or the C-3 monaker is a coinkidink. For those of you who aren't hashers, H-3 means Hash House Harriers. Good to see a Carolina thread. If I happen to get orders out there, I'll let you know. |
