Hi, Just wanted to say hello. I am new to the world of the Buell Moto. I just purchased an 05 city X. So far I really like the bike. I have never ridden anything quite like this before. I've been reading the board here for a few days and I can tell that this is an eclectic mix of people. I should fit in just fine..... |

Welcome, is it just me or does it seem that the City X are selling well? |

Welcome to the board, the group...and for the most part one of the most dysfunctional families that you will ever belong to! |

Anyone know how to get updated unit sales figures from HD. I'm pretty curious as to how they are moving as well. Seems to be quite a few new ones here now. |

The Buell Cityx is the only new Buell that I would consider. I have yet to see one on Ebay, no one seems to want to get rid of one. |

>>>Anyone know how to get updated unit sales figures from HD They were recently posted here and are always available on the HD website. CityX's are a HOME RUN. I know 6 people who have bought them in the last 8 days. You laugh at the little thing, giggle at the hand guards. Ride it and you see it WORKS...just WORKS. Atomic Passion. Court |

I must admit...after I started my (humorous) abject humiliation evaluation when the CityX was unveiled, it looks as though the marketeers were right. It's a hit. I really did think the press would ridicule the bike. I was wrong. I still don't care for the squirrel-catchers or the land rover discovery light guards (sorry ) but it's doing good things for Buell and bringing a lot of new riders to the table. That can't be bad. Ok Court... Give some of us a break here. Heck, even I thought it was a bit funky looking when they came out. Look what I bought. |

Congratulations on your City X. That bike is what made me pull over and walk into an HD dealership for the very first time. Of course, once inside, I fell in love with the XB12SX and it was all downhill from there. |

Congrats on your new City X. I know how hard it is to put that thing away and finally go to bed. As for how it looks all I can say is the City X came just in time to cost Ducati a guarantied sale. And I’ve never regretted it for a minute. |

All heartening to hear and what a pleasure to see Buell, for their first time, selling every bike they can build w/o delay. I share some inside dope with you, as regards my opinion of the headlight grill. It does NOTHING....functionally. That's right. With the possible exception of deflecting a roll of paper towels tossed from aside the road, it does nothing. Now that skimpy top that what's her name was wearing on TV last night...it also did nothing. Both, the grill and the cute little midriff mind-snare are cosmetic. Something there to stimulate the pleasure centers of the brain. Think of it as "Cristo's Gates", where I spent the day with the CityX on Saturday. They too did nothing, but their mind-snare powers filled $400/night hotels, caused me a 3-hour wait for dinner Saturday night and brought more tourists to NYC than the permanent population of Wisconsin and Kansas combined. That's right the grill guard is art. Now, and this is where it gets good. I was thinking about tossing the thing of making an inline strainer for the water system in the house to seine incoming Seabass. When I went to take the thing off......in fact....stop now.....run to the garage and take your's off. I'll wait. No, really go...take it off....and come back. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Now, you see Erik Buell's signature? The item weighs about 17 grams and has how many fasteners and pieces of associated hardware....yes, you know..but for the benefit of non-Xer's...blurt it out......ZERO. The attachment method is pure genius. This, in my mind, was the Chief Technical Officer's way of putting HIS signature on the bike. It tells me that every part of this motorcycle has been carefully thought out. Someone's said "what does that part do?"..."can it act in concert with any other part to make either of them better?"..."if it fails, what's it take out with it?". That's right the grill guard does nothing. But, it does "nothing" PERFECTLY. It's a statement of the thought process and art that goes into each CityX. The handguards are an entirely different issue, they just WORK. The ride/photo shoot I did on Saturday would not have been possible sans the handguards. Temps at 33o and my eagerness to get there, shoot the pics and get home, gave me a remedial class in the meaning of wind chill. The handguards, and I beg anyone who has ACTUALLY RIDDEN a CityX to take me to task, JUST WORK. That help explain things any? Court |

Wow! what a reaction. More than I can say for the Ducati boards I have been used too. That's right I came from overpriced Pasta land... I didn't realize there was another Rocketman. My call sign, Ghostrider, was taken. The board let me register so I hope it doesn't get confusing. Guess I could always change it. Actually, the City X attracted me with the price initially. Apart from looking like an Apple I mac it is pretty cool. In fact I may paint the bodywork black. The second thing that bought me off was the ride. Stone mountain Harley let me take it for a test ride and I'm a sucker for a grunty V twin. In actuality Two pieces of plastic and a headlight grill seem to be the only real difference between the city x and its predesessor. Anyway, I'm glad to be here and some may like my bike and some may not. Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me. I like it and that is what the heart and soul of a Buell owner seems to be. |

Court, The HD web site only gives sales numbers thru Q3 of 04. (Sept.) close to six months ago. Or am I missing something there? Do you have any updated figures? Thanks. |

Rocket_Man... Take the existing bodywork, and get a plastic pro to polish and paint the *inside* of it in silver or black or purple or something. I think it would look VERY cool, like somebody put down a paint job with like a quarter inch of clear coat. I like mine clear, but would love to see an inside paint job. |

Cool idea Reepi. Glitch, Thanks, I was hoping someone would point me in the right direction for the local area. I plan on heading up to TWO for the madness event. I've been riding those mountains for 10 years and I can't wait to do it on my buell. RM |

Congratulations on your City X. That bike is what made me pull over and walk into an HD dealership for the very first time. Of course, once inside, I fell in love with the XB12SX and it was all downhill from there. I stopped by my local HD store to go in to get some cleaning items. As I'm coming out there's two guys staring my bike down. I started to chat with them and they told me the passanger in the car made the driver turn around to stop in at the HD store to check out my bike. He was in awe of it. I told him they have another one inside the store if he wants to buy one. He told me he currently has a GSXR 750 and after seeing this he would think about it. Hey, what can I say, the disease spreads, right? |

>>>Do you have any updated figures? I don't. The only info I have from talking to friends is that Buell is a finely tuned production machine, operating at full capacity and they are selling everything they can make. Maybe not a big deal to you, but each day I do the "more in a day than used to be done in a year" drill. Problem at present is that many are being sold before they get more than 50 miles from the factory. But....that's another story. |
