So, I know there was a recall on the sidestands on early XB9Rs--how do I recognize if the sidestand on my new bike has been replaced? I took a quick look at it (the bike is still at the dealership--service guy was sick, couldn't get it ready for me), but I did not see any "R" as I thought there should be on the new stands. Is this correct, and if so, where is the "R?" Also, I've got all the pages from the "recall" section, but the VIN list is not there--anyone know how I could get it? I know I should be getting my dealer to do all this, but for certain reasons I'm beginning to wonder how far I should trust him... Wheel bearings were done, before anyone reminds me to check that too! |

There should be an R stamped into the "foot" of the kickstand (the flat bar at the end that touches the ground). You can see it by looking straight down on the kickstand foot. You should make sure the dealer has your bike registered with the correct status in the "computer". You can also called Buell Customer Service as Pcmodeler notes...seriously I have called a couple of times and got good information each time. |
