Decided to throw a set of Iridiums (IX27B Denso)into my 03 XB9SL, so now that the rain has let up I can take it out for a spin... What a pain to do the rear plug! Used the old trick of a piece of vacuum hose to get it started, but man it's tight in there. Anyone got a good method for that plug? Just Ranting. Bike runs excellent with these plugs. Also did away with the CA canister for the fuel tank evap. Don't want it clogging and stopping the flow of fuel... Otherwise SOS, Wish I was going to Daytona! Kaveman, In your opinion, are the iridium plugs worth it? and where do you get them? |

Yeah, putting the plugwire back on was a challenge to say the least... Lucky I have a pair of spark plug wire pliers and was able to get the "click" onto the plug. As for "worth it" for the Iridiums, I believe they make the bike run a bit smoother. I know for SURE that they made my Blast run better. I got them online. But you'll have to email me for the link as it's not one of the sponsors of this site... Kaveman |

Do you have to take off the air cleaner base plate to get to the plugs? Thanks |

How's it going Kaveman? Did you get rid of your Blast? Are you the Kaveman that is making the dash and with tach mount for the Blast? How long have you had your 9SL? I used to have a Blast and a 9S. Now I have a 12R. I should have never went to a Track day. LOL. brupska |

The front plug is pretty easy to get to, the back plug, yes you need to take off the cleaner base plate. Once I get the base of the cleaner out I use a ratchet a swivel attachment and an extender. On the end of the I use the 5/8 spark plug socket, I think it is 5/8. I get it out like that with no problems. |

Club Plug is where I got em'(not a sponsor here...). Don't have to take off the base plate to get the rear plug out. There is an opening in the frame for access. Just take off the Plastic cover for the airbox. You'll need to use a piece of vacuum hose to get the new plug down in there. I was able to guide it from below with a finger or two as well. Original plug is 5/8", Denso is 18mm. You'll also need a swivel... Brupska, Yup it's me... Sold the Blast(it was kinda a fun bike). Dash project came out great. there's a guy on eBay making and selling them based on the design I worked out with him. Got the XB about a year ago or so. Just couldn't RESIST!!! Later on... Kaveman |

Changed the plugs last night and I thought the back was easier to get off and on than the front. |

It's helps to get to the front plug if you take the air cleaner base off. |

For the front I just take off the air scoop. For the rear I use a universal joint socket (don't know what they're really called), no problems with either. Is tight though. |
