I have been thinking about buying the Buell pro-series race kit plus a 12S airbox cover and a de-snorkle job... anybody out there running that setup on a 2003 XB9? Pros, cons, suggestions? |

personally in your position with the standard ecm fitted i would go another route...... keep the stock ecm but add a techlusion tfi unit, cheaper than the race ecm,the race exhaust is not very efficient there are much better after market items available,D+D, jardine, etc go with anything other than the rusting race can, airfilter yes the buell race item is a worthwhile addition, fit the 12 airbox cover, pull the snorkel and you are good to go |

alot of guys go with aftermarket exhaust, rather than the race exh. The TFI box is an alternative to the race ecm also. For that, I'd say it would depend on how much time you want to spend fiddling around with the setup. Lots o' comments in this Xboard ! |

My 2003 XB9S had the complete race installed when I bought my Buell from the dealer. I have not ridden a stock XB9, just heard one next to mine. I admit there is hole in the mid-range. From what I have heard on this site, if I was buying a nine that did not have a race kit installed by the dealer before I bought it. I would purchase the Drummer and probably go with the race ecm, free flow air filter and 12 airbox. I put the 12 airbox on myself, best thirty something bucks I have spent on a performance mod. I am content with the race exhaust, even with the hole as I like to rev it a little higher anyway. With the race exhaust you do not start making power until about 5K rpm. Hope this helps. |

I have an '05 XB9SX. I ordered the race kit. Will install next weekend. I work for an OEM. I have a pretty good idea of what an OEM does when they design performance parts for their own products. I figured if Buell made the bike Buell probably new what they were doing when they made the race kit. It's a turn key deal. |

I have the setup that you're explaining. I'm very happy with the added performance. I think it is the right route expecually if you have HD dealer service the bike. Better off going with something HD techs know and understand. |

I am. I love it. Not a hiccup over 5000 miles, sounds and feels good. |

Make sure your dealer knows there is a newer race ECM for the 9sx, different from the previous XB9's. If they have an older kit laying on the shelf, it's easy to grab the wrong one (the older kits say "for all Buell XB9's, which is no longer true). |

That's the setup on my 9S. Works great. Loose a little bottom-end torque, but more than compensate above 4500 rpm. Sounds great - you get the HD potato-potato at idle, and a really nice roar when you come on the throttle (apparently not as loud as the D&D, but I personally wouldn't want it any louder than this!). Requires a TPS reset for the race ECM. Go for it...you'll be happy! |

We need a little flag beside each name to indicate that a user deals with Dave, Al, Aaron or Pammy. If so, we can save ourselves a lot of trouble and know we don't have to perform "remedial dealer support". |

I've had my bike completely stock and later had the race kit installed. I'm very satisfied with the kit. Like krassh said, there's a hole in the power between 4 and 5 grand, but after that...HANG ON!! I preferred the race kit due to warranty reasons. This might not be a big deal to you though. |

Exactly, basically keeps pulling after 5 grand like a freight train. |
