OK, what's the deal? I went into the garage after receiving them (Thanks DaveS) to put 'em on the bike. And they don't seem to fit right?!?! I stood there and stared at them for the longest time, but that didn't make them fit either...

There are 3 velcro pieces that cross over the tail section on my XB9SX the front & back go over the top, and the one in the middle goes underneath. OK easy enuff... but the back one is too short...I'm barely able to get the strap doubled over to engage the velcro and the bags are still pulled up too far and too close together. The notches cut out of the back for the blinkers don't line up with the blinkers...

So OK they work and hold stuff, and are secure, but they're on there kinda crooked and not lined up right so it looks sorta goofy.

And then of course there are the neat little reflector relocator brackets to keep us DOT legal...You're supposed to scrape off the reflector from the stock location and stick it onto the bracket with the supplied double sided tape. Cool except only one of the brackets had tape on it...duh...that's pretty minor though if I actually wanted to use the reflectors I would have bought some tape and put it on.

I'm just wondering if I got HM (Hangover-Monday) bags or what? Anybody else get the bags and manage to make them line up right??? I'll take some pics tonight...

later,
Nick

For the record the bags do look very nice and are well thought out-for bigger folks, they'll rub the side of your arse a little bit! Seems like the back strp just needs 4 more inches of length...

Are you sure you got bags for a Lightning?
I noticed that the R and S bags have different part numbers.

What color are they? Hard to tell from the website.

On my Firebolt (older versions) you had to cross
the front/back straps and not go straight across.

Cap'n-I checked the parts last night, the saddlebags have no part numbers on them, but the instruction sheet says it's for XB*S's, the bags are black and grey...

Chris-The instructions clearly show the straps going straight across, not criss-Xing...I'll look and see if that helps though...

Still in a quandry...Anybody else got theirs installed yet? The publicity photos for the bags conveniently don't show a view from the back end...

Well they should fit then. Keep at it and do show pics when you get them installed.

Maybe the straps should go under the seat?

I just got the same bags and ran across the same issue with the back strap. I was able to get a little better fit after letting it sit in the sun about an hour, but that back strap still seems short.

That being said, it does seem to sit better now, although the notches still don't line up quite right with the rear turn signals.

I'll let it sit on the the bike over the next few days to see if things loosen up a bit more. I just hope that the straps don't tear loose from the bags. ; )

Also, has anyone noticed that the back of the seat no longer sits flush (noticeable gap) because of the rear velcro strap?
