Has anybody removed the lower cowling from their XB? I think it looks better without it, but wonder if there is any reason to keep it on... |

wonder if there is any reason to keep it on... Looks Don't think it really protects the oil lines or filter from road crap/rocks/stuff.} |

I should post a picture of the giant crack in my old chin fairing. Huge rock bounced off a construction truck and without my fairing my oil filter would have exploded. I'm leaving my new one on. |

I think it looks better with it on. It just looks, uh, not finished without it. |

I have thought the same thing, but have you ever seen the bottom of an SV650? That thing absolutely throws that filter to the wolves dangling out down there, yet I have not heard complaints about them getting punctured. Gives me the heebie jeebies every time I see one though. |

I for one like the lower fairing. I would like to have one of those larger one's Trojan has on the race bike. |

it gives great balance to the motorcycle. by having the piece at the bottom it creates a virtual rectangle, therefore bringing attention to the center of the bike which is the engine. This is why the italian bikes are so much better designed then the japanese bikes. its not just about throwing colors and plastic anywhere, its about the design. |

Reepicheep, My last bike was an SV, so perhaps that is why I like the look. I never had any problems with the filter. Fullpower, Did you put a chain on your bike? |

Trojan, What sort of fender eliminator is on that XB12S that you posted the picture of? Do you have a picture from the rear? |
