Does anyone know if it is possible to remove a CityX rubber X on the airbox cover w/o harming the airbox or the X? It's glued on there pretty good and I don't know if pulling it off will mess up the airbox... anyone got any brilliant ideas? Thanks, Nick |

I have heard you cannot without it leaving a mark. |

Gosh blast it. That's what I was afraid of. Hey DaveS...my rubber X fell off when I went over a bump...a BIG bump. Can I buy one yet?!?!?! |

I am almost positive it has it's own part number, so it should be easy to order a replacement. The mark should not matter, as you will be putting another on on top of it. Even if you have to scrape old goo off, so long as you are careful it should go back on and cover up any sins. How on EARTH did you rip that thing off on a bump?!?!?!?! Sounds like a heck of a story |

Reep-It is a whopper of a STORY... The STORY was merely a fabrication to entice DaveS to sell me a new X. I might be swappin plastics with Letzfoto, and I wanted to take the "X" off my bike and put it on his black airbox...sorta trying to keep some of the CityX elements ya know... So I either need to buy another or take this one off (I haven't taken it off yet cause I was worried about screwin up the box, which is why I asked if anyone had dun it before!) and be able to clean up the airbox so you can't tell it was ever there. Not looking very likely at this point. Did you take the X off that plastic practice piece??? Would ya be willin ta sell it if I can't buy one? thanks, Nick |

To be honest, the scratches in the thing cleaned up *really* well. So it and the one on my bike look about the same (obviously used, but look nice). I don't want to take it apart. I am just about positive you can just order the X, I was enquiring about a warranty claim (that I chose not to pursue) and they had to write the X part up as an additional part. I think you can just order it, and it is just cheap. I would still like to try the "spare" airbox with different sealants. I tried all the stuff I can find, but it is all pretty mainstream stuff. I'm all ears if somebody knows of some sort of non wax based wax that would be petrol resistent. I would like to get the "best way to seal it" question answered. If people have anything fancy they would like to see tried, slap a little in sealed container and mail it to me, and I will test it. |

If it mounts like the frame pucks... Don't they recommend isopropyl alcohol for that? Blake... Your dictionary doesn't have "isopropyl" in it. MS Word says it's spelled right. |

They are still not available. You have to buy the whole airbox to get one. |

If you were to take the X off and had some scratches you should be able to polish them out. There are many plastic polish products on the market. |

Is there plans for them to be sold separately in the future? I think one would look good on my red 12r. |

According to my parts book, the part # is: M0031.1AJ GUARD, air box cover. A separate number. |

3M makes some great products for plastics. Try the boat stores. |
