Has anyone seen or know anything about the Pirelli Diablo Strada's? From the artilcle I saw in Motor Cyclist, they are supposed to be designed for the Sport Touring bike, and they seemed to like them a lot. They tested them on a BMW R1150RT in on the "legendary Targa Florio race course in Sicily" and they said they held up really well. They took them on the street and in the mountains. They also tried them on a Ducati ST4 and Triumph 955i, said they felt inspiring. They're going to do a long term study, tire is supposed to be a "promising choice" for sport touring or commuting and "da bomb on cold, wet pavement". The rear tire is supposed to come in a harder compound than the front. It has a .5 inch wide center band for improved wear. The profile is supposed to be right between that of a touring tire and a sport tire. They are supposed to be available in March. Supposed to come in all common sizes from 110/70-17 up front ( a 16 inch 130/70 will also be available) to 200/50-17 in the rear. Suggested prices range from $145.95 - $185.95, depending on size. Looks like another good possibility from Pirelli. Guess I just gave you the article in a nutshell. I haven't been to concerned about tires until now. When I get back from Iraq I'll be looking at replacing mine. I had been thinking about the Scorpions, until now. Might have to look at these. I might be gone for 14 months, so if anyone puts them to the test, let me know about them. |

I got in on last years Pirelli "Get the front free" deal. Ended up weaseling one set of Corsas and one set of Diablo's. Got 10,000 miles on the Corsas and they felt soft up until the cord started showing. I've now got around 5,000 miles on the Diablos, a little hard for my liking, but I prefer the Corsas hands down. I know the Corsa's are a softer compound and I think designed more for the track, but they felt good until the end. Not to mention the mileage I got out of them. I do 95% of my riding during the commute on the freeway. Includes wet and dry conditions. My next and future sets will be the Corsas. I've put some miles on the Dunlaps and never found a set of them that held up. |

Thanks for that input. If you got that out of the Corsa's, I'd really like to see how well these Strada's last. |

I thought that same thing for the mileage on the Diablo's, but doesn't look as if it will happen. I think I will be lucky to get 8 or 9K out of them. Picked up a nail last night and my first attempt at plugging it didn't work. I must of plugged the Corsa's 3 or 4 times with no problems. |

I am suprised you got 10K out of the Corsa's. I managed 2500 with 1/2 of that being superslab. That is here in AZ with the roads we have here. Mine was shredded down the middle from the super slabbing, front and rear. The Sports which are what your listing as the Diablo's Kease, I managed 3500 to the same point as the Corsa's. Again done in by freeway riding. |

Has anyone used the pilot powers yet? |

Would anyone be interested in a collated version of our perpetual tire discussions? Since my bike's been in the shop for two months waiting for parts (to be rebuilt after being hit by a Ford F150, and I only put 5K miles on it in the two months I owned it prior to that) I haven't swapped tires yet, but my head's swimming from all the raw info re tires. What I envision is a table that breaks down tires by sport vs sport-touring, brand, bike model, and users' comments/mileage. It would make it easier (I think) for those of us newbies to glean valuable info from those of you who have more experience with different tires. That said, I think the hard part is getting it started. If there's enough interest, I'd be willing to manage the database and web table generation (yes, I have experience in these areas) as a grateful contribution to a site that has taught me quite a bit about this little XB I've grown to love. What think you? |

I have had the Michelin Pilot Powers for 2000 miles. I am extremely happy with them. They are wearing very well, look like new really, mostly about town and sport ride on Sunday work, very little superslab. But the main thing is that they completely transformed the handling of the bike compared to the Dunlop 207. They also work well in the wet and on cold roads. Highly recommended. |

I'd like to see a good comparison of tires. My 207 rear is brand new but my front 207 needs to be replaced. I've thought about going with the 208's, but I've seen a lot of folks give good marks to the Pilot's. I need a tire that's going to last yet is soft enough to handle my more aggressive riding style (no track use). |

Ethan, Please see my response to your same question in the "suggestions" topic. Sure do appreciate your enthusiasm. |

I've put together the beginnings of a comments/comparisons table. If you're interested, check out the new "Tire Comments" thread in the tire section of the KV and give some feedback. |

Good job Ethan! Do you think this is the death of any tire threads here? |

No , it just means we'll have one link to give as an answer instead of forty . |

Thanks for gathering the data. After looking through it, I think I might have to go with the Metzeler M1's. |
