And they will each come with a flying pig. And the crusier will also be equipped with a little vial of frozen hell, for extra kick. |

Please define "revo" powered, thanks. Can't be "revolution", that's already been used. |

REVO - Refined EVO???? Is that a reference to the XB9R motor? |

Revolution motor - as in a revolutionary motor (for HD). Y'know, the whole new water cooled lump in the V-rod. As far as it being used in the Firebolt - don't hold your breath. There are whispers about something special for the XB though and I'm not saying anything about it till I see them in November. |

Hey Ross, you SHOULD be proud, you (and a few other folks like you) had a major big impact on the team and our ability to pull this off. We'll do our best, that's all I can promise. AW |

Not too hard, really Put a backslash "\", then the color you want to use, say blue "blue" Then "{", that's the cap letter to the right of the P on your keyboard Then the message "Hi There", then a "}" It looks like this only without spaces: \ blue {Hi There} |

good point Blake, but in my industry we still are stuck with 2d cad for most of the bread and butter work [fea and solid modeling only for critical components and API certification], lazy detailers who cannot do weight calcs or optimize for weight reduction and constant design changes [we are essentially a custom shop but the boss HATES the word prototype]. Most of the stuff we deal with started out on bar napkins and we have to produce a working version usually with in 3-6 months [oilfield stimulation equipment]. The only thing that remains consistant is change, when i worked for a company that had a standard product line the deviations in weights were around 1% sorry to rant, i wouldn't change my job for the world, bleeding edge technology rox. |

Dave: 3 LBs out of 600? That's not too bad, 1/2%. |

Anyone going to York this weekend to see the Fireboat? If so, please do me a favor, bring a tape measure and tell me how wide the bike is at the bars. If I need to widen my gate to get the bike in the garage, I'd like to know now, not in Dec/Jan when it might show up at the dealer. Tanks a lot! |

Was browsing at Barnes and Noble last night and ran across a Cycle World Performance VTwin specialty publication of some sort. Very interesting. Had a good writeup about the drop in 6 speed tranny kits. And had a very interesting writeup about the firebolt... including a couple interesting tidbits. First, the belt tensioner is not spring loaded (as I thought) but rather rigid, and the geometry is calculated such that no matter what the state of the swingarm, the length of the system stays constant. They indicated there were no rear wheel position adjusters necessary... very cool if it works. They also said there was a plate that can be removed to allow belt replacement without removing the swingarm... also very cool. Also, they said this is the first application of this belt that actually set and achieved the manufacturer suggested preload of 300lbs, which will make it the first production zero slop zero backlash drivetrain (except I suppose the shaft drives). And even more interesting... they said a Buell engineer indicated that the airbox hidden in the "tank" had been designed to flow enough air to reach 120 horsepower without causing any restrictions. Makes me think there may be some significant headroom in that XB9R engine, and that they have already explored it, and know how to get there. They also talked about the geometry. Erik wanted a bike that was the size of a 250 GP racer with a 1000cc twin engine. Thats what got them to the product they have today, and what drove so much of the combined functionality for lower weight and space reuse. The whole magazine was a pretty good read. I was pretty Harley oriented, but understood Buells well (both the strengths and the weaknesses) and mentioned them frequently. Bill |

Airbox flows enough for 120hp. REVO motor = 115hp. Any questions? |
