OK, its down to 35 degrees outside and my fan is still running while riding and after I shut the bike down. Is the fan setting that conservative, or do I need to take into the maintenance department? Info: '05 1200 XBR. Let the bike warm up for 5 minutes...fan not running. Rode the bike to work...5 miles, 55mph, one stop sign. Pulling into the gate at work I noticed fan was running. parked the bike and shut down. Fan Ran on high for about 45 seconds, then on low for another minute or two. |

Mine does the same thing. Oil is fresh and full and it's running great. Last night it was about 44 degrees and it didn't come on but last week it was 36 and it came on.I truly believe it has alot to do with engine speed also. If I ride in a lower gear for a bit then it seems to come on more readily regardless of outside temp. When riding with some other 3%er's I noticed the fan on/off cycle was different for everybody. Weird......Odie |

Nope, as long as oil level is good and everything else is running/working the way it is supposed to everything should be fine. The way I see it, I would rather have it on than off to keep things a little cooler....Odie |

How many miles are on ya'll's bikes? I've noticed the more miles on the bike the less the fan runs. Just a thought. |

I agree, I'd rather have in on than off. Oil and everything is good and she is running like a top. I have about 1,500 miles on mine |

That's just started to break in. After about 5000 you'll notice the bike running cooler (fan no on as often), and better power. My fan doesn't always come on when everyone else's does. I've got over 30,000 mile on her now and she runs great. Very strong, and healthy. The more miles you ride the better, for you and your bike! |

Same here... 10,600 miles and my fan comes on quite a bit less now. It'll work itself in and be fine . It's just breaking in. |

If you run a good synthetic, the fan will come on much less. I use Mobil One 15-50. |

Running Mobil 1 and I've noticed that even after hard riding the fan comes on very infrequently now. Also, after shutting the bike off it the running time for it seems lessened. I'm up to 2800 miles now. When my bike was new that fan came on a lot. |

I feel a lot better now. I'm going to wait a while before I start running syn though. |

I moved to Syn at 1000mi. Also use Mobil One 75-90 in trans. The trans will love you for it and you will love the trans. |
