Sweet! I still remember the first one of those I saw, in ~1969 when I was 13. I grew up in SMALL town in SC (population ~100). Local boy who made it big in Atlanta drove home in his brand-new Vette. Gold convertible, 427 with tri-power, side pipes, 4 speed. Already had aftermarket mechanical progressive linkage on the carbs. Man, that thing sounded AWESOME. Sadly, a few months later it was literally squashed by a runaway delivery truck. Luckily, he was not inside at the time. He got it fixed, but traded it to the dealer on a new 454 Monte Carlo.

The new 05 Vette has a 427 in it. Something like 500 hp and 475 tq I think.

I love my C4 vette, a 1991. It's the only thing that puts as much of a smile on my face as my XB9r. It's different but still fun!

A big block convertible 'Vette for $3500?! Man, that's a screamin' deal no matter what condition it was in. One can only imagine just how much of a "basket case" it must a been for that kind of money.

It's a testament to both you and your brother for bringing it back to it's former glory. Beautiful car!

That's what I'm talking about!! <-----HUGE Mustang Fan. Got a '96 sitting in storage with a warped head. Aluminum doesn't like heat! Blew a leak in the radiator, and I babied it home. About 1 block from home, "White Smoke!!". It was coming from the rear of the head. Stripped it, and it's warped. Funny thing is, it never went into the red, just to the upper range of the temp. gauge. Oh well, she had HARD miles on her. Now I want a new motor, so I can autocross it.

Without a doubt, It's Steve's car...

From the Mustang Source

"Muscular new engines infuse Mustang with tire-smoking performance. The 4.6-liter all-aluminum V-8 has three-valve heads and cranks out 300 horsepower. Because it has an aluminum block, it weighs 75 pounds less than a comparable cast-iron design while delivering 40 more horsepower than the 2004 engine. That’s more than 50 percent more power than the small-block 289-cubic-inch V-8 found in the classic 1964 model. Motor Trend ran a 2005 Mustang GT 5-speed from 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds at 103 mph in the January 2005 issue. The Mustang GT comes standard with a rear spoiler, but a spoiler delete option is available. 17" wheels are standard."

"A TREMEC five-speed manual transmission is standard, but for the first time, a five-speed automatic transmission is available."

I wondered if your name had something to do with Fords SVO. Have you heard they are thinking about shutting down SVT? I want the new COBRA when/IF it is built. If not, I want the new Saleen. Check out the sight. Beautiful car. They stuffed 20" wheels in it, and it is a performer, not just some flashy thing. Beautiful!

Ford hasn't exactly "killed" SVT. They just got rid of the name. I'm pretty sure you can order race cars from Ford. I believe the '05 race car is around $100K and I don't know what support that comes with. You have to go to a good Ford dealer though...

That's the car built in Canada correct? I saw that on Rides. Sweet car. Yet, when I saw this new body style I wanted the Cobra version when it was built. So I'm stuck I guess.

>>>The 2007 SVT Cobra design will be unveiled March 23, 2005 at the New York Auto Show.

Good point...Ford has no need for the "buzz" of an SVO or Shelby at this point. In fact, production is currently shut down or slowed due to poor forecasting. Ford estimated that 20% of buyers would opt for the interior appearance package, it turned out to be more like 80%. They are scrambling to do required testing on air bag deployment, etc. They are also being sued, and have temporarily halted shipment of vehicles with, over the "choose your color" instrument display.

By the way, those of you who have sent "I have this great idea Buell could use" stuff to me, will now understand why I send the packages back unopened. Ford should have know better.

Eager to see how this Mustang sells...looks like a winner to me.

I'll consider myself lucky.. My GT was one of the last ones built (DEC 16) with the Interior Upgrade Package and "My Color" dash lighting... I may have accidentally ordered/purchased a collector's item... Only time will tell...

I'm betting, based on the early facts in the case, that you may have.

Regardless, you got a kick butt car and you had the wisdom to get the right wheels.

Thanks!

I concur, the upgrade polished aluminum wheels do leave a little to be desired in the "looks dept."...They're rather two-demensional/flat looking..
