Are you certain it is an actual leak, and not missed spalsh fromt he removal of the old filter? Anyways those fittings get hot then cool get hot then cool and can work themselves loose enough to dribble. Try to just snugg it up alittle or pull it, put teflon tape around the lower threads just to keep it from getting around the flow portion of the fitting and retighten. |

I made damn sure to clean all oil after I serviced it. You can't see it in the pic, but its coming from the fitting in front of the filter. |

If it's an 04 you have a 2 year warrenty. I would take it into the dealership and have them fix those lines. |

There was a post on another site with a link to a guy who will cut any filter you send him and post pics and comparison. Fram was the loser every time with cheap cardboard end caps glued on the filter element ends while all the competition has metal end caps. The issue is the filter could burst or glue residue could get in the engine.
After seeing this site, I will never use Fram again on any cars let alone bikes.

Well it just seems lazy to spend about 4 hours to bring my bike to the dealer when its just a leaking pipe joint. |

I use Amsoil filters (and all fluids) in my Buell. Their site does not list a "motorcycle" filter for the XB application. From doing a little research and cross refferencing of part numbers, the Amsoil #SDF-10 fits our application. I have been using them since the first oil change at 1k miles. It is all I run in all my vehicles. They run around $10 like the K&N filters.
MOST filters out of Champion Labs are the same. They make the Bosch and STP filters. Both the STP and Bosch are EXACTLY the same and just slightly different from the Mobil 1 (also a Champion lab filter). The STP is by far the best bang for the buck at around $3 each.

I thought the Mobil 1 filter was MT-103 or will the 106 also work? |
