I've got a line on one and I know that the airbox from the 12 can be used on the 9. I would guess that the airbox covers are the same dimensions. |

Yes, that's the whole idea. Fitting the 12 cover alone is the best value tuning mod I've carried out, as proven on a Dyno. Remove the snorkle and fit a free flow (K+N) air filter and the bike is transformed for less than €100!! |

Cool. In conjunction with my Jardine, what's the noise level going to be like? I know that when I added a cold air intake to my car, there was a significant change in exhaust noise (throatier). |

Until you start cutting on the airbox cover, you're not going to hear any difference. The switch to the -12 cover is one of those cheap mods you can do to get a little better performance without affecting reliability or warranty |

Not under warranty so I can pretty much do whatever at this point. In regards to cutting the cover, is there anything I should be careful about in order to ensure I don't get water sucked in? |

There have been several other posts written on what people have done. Try searching some key phrases. |

I bought several XB12 airboxes with the intent of cutting most of them away to make the airbox retention plate for an airbox kit I'm putting together (filter retention plate, long bolts, well nuts and sealing washers for the bolts that thread into what was the breather vent holes in the bottom, breather re-routing hoses, Tee, Breather filter, etc). After seeing how much work it was going to be to cut the boxes away each time (not a lot, but 1/2 hour of hacking, sanding drilling, etc), I took one good filter retention plate made from the hacked XB12 airbox over to our buds over at Airtech (the fiberglass body specialists, they're right down the road from us). They're cloning the filter retention plate in pressure molded fiberglass, complete with the XB12 adolescent female breast inverted nipple. It'll cost me about the same for the fiberglass plate as it would have for the new XB12 injection molded airbox from the dealer, but the Airtech part wont require any secondary ops on my part, it will be stiffer than the inejction molded plate was, and the flange over the air filter rubber ring will be much wider, all good things. So, I have 5 more brand new XB12 airboxes in stock if anyone needs them. See XB12 airbox cover here This airbox kit is gonna kick butt with our CF 9006 CIA cover. I'll get to dyno testing it here shortly, but I figure between the 9006 CIA cover, the wide open K&N, the nipple plate, and the breathers routed out of the airbox, it ought to be good for at least 4-5 HP or more. I'll get some pictures up when I get the prototype back from Airtech. Al |

Al-Gonna offer the kit without the Plate? Since I already have an unmolested 12 airbox, I was thinking about just getting the kit, and not thinking about it! I'll leave the thinking to you guys! |

Sure, Makes sense, I can assemble a breather rerouting (hose, Tee, box plugs, breather filter) kit standalone. We already have all the component parts. Al |

Al, whenever you have your kit together, could you provide some nice pics? |

Tatsu, Digital Speedo package? Are you looking for a replacement for the entire Buell instrument cluster? Ingemar, You betcha. I know if I had a CityX that I'd definitely put something like this kit in. It seems such a shame to have that clear cover only to be able to view a plastic cover 1/4" below it. And with the breathers rerouted, no more oily misty air to foul up the inside surface. Note that re-routing the breathers is a violation of EPA laws for pollution controlled vehicles and can only be used on vehicles for off road use Al |

And of course we know that all HDs and Buells conform to all EPA laws for their entire lives |

Well I don't know about YOU guys but once I start bolting on parts and my bike is illegal it will strictly be used off road! Can't wait to see the pics! Sounds great Al! |

Would setting for a digital readout for speed, but a complete package would be sweet! |
