So how do you spend the ideal Christmas day? By installing one of your new goodies of course! Wifey spent most of the day preparing food and snacks for tonight, so I spend most of my day with my other wife . I have made pictures, and I will post those next week along with my story. The bike runs great, I started with the default settings and backed the yellow pot 3/4, because that smoothed out the engine at 1800-2000 rpms. One little issue is a hesitation I notice around 4500-5000 rpm, one time accompanied with a giant sneeze. I was about to overtake a car, and held the rpms steady when it happened. Any ideas? Have a good one! Ingemar. |

That tends to happen every once in a while -- usually on high RPM, high load, but low speed (meaning you've dropped a gear and are high-running it in traffic.) I reset my TPS and the problem has not resurfaced...it may be a calibration issue but since the Techlusion doesn't have a TPS input, I doubt it. CHris |

I sent an email to Dobeck for a few questions I have. I figured some of you might have an answer too or be interested in their answers.
quote:Hi, I ended up with a few questions after installing the TFI unit on my buell xb9r. The bike is configured as follows: stock ecm k&n airfilter airbox cover completely removed, xb12 cone over the airfilter snorkel removed drummer exhaust tfi pots: g: 2.5, y: 7, r:4, rpm: 7 Not so long ago, the tps and afv were reset per service manual instructions, and the bike was taken for a ride to allow the ecm to "relearn" its afv. My first problem was connecting the tfi to the injectors. I would swear originally the green wire was on the front injector. When I looked in my service manual it lists front gy + w/y rear gy + gn/gy I reconnected it as quoted above from the SM, with your yellow connector on the front injector. When I turn the key and set the kill switch to run, I hear the fuel pump buzz and the green led on the tfi starts and keeps blinking. According to step 9 in your instructions I understand more than one led should flash and go out after a few seconds. This is not the case. Just the green one flashes and it does not stop. I can start the bike and set the pots as instructed. Generally the bike runs great. I have one issue that worries me though. When riding at a steady 4500-5000 rpm, the bike sometimes hesitates a little, one time accompanied with a giant sneeze. Could this be due to an incorrect setting on the tfi somehow? A bunch of other questions I have: - Other than wire colors, is there another way to find out if the connectors are on the correct injector? - If I want to reset the tps and/or afv, should I disconnect the tfi first or can I do this with the tfi installed? - When setting all pots to minimum, does that disable the tfi? - Can the tfi be tuned on a dyno like any other bike? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Ingemar.

Some pics: I made a hole in the trunk for the wires to run through. Bike stripped of airbox, seat and tail section. Where the wires are coming out of the tail. Unit installed. And tucked away.

- Other than wire colors, is there another way to find out if the connectors are on the correct injector? No front and rear distinction. They are interchangeble - according to George at Techlusion. So doesn't matter which one goes to the front and rear. - If I want to reset the tps and/or afv, should I disconnect the tfi first or can I do this with the tfi installed? Setting TPS has nothing to do with the fuel injection. TPS setting merely involves closing the throttle fully and resetting the voltage of the TPS read. And you do this without engine running. TFI, however, can alter the idle. So you need to have the TFI in before setting the idle. |

My green light flashes until I start up the bike..at that point it flashes for a few secs and then goes out. Nothing flashes unless I blip the throttle then the LEDs start flashing. I had the same question when I installed my unit. I hope it's right, cause the bikes been running like a champ. |

About 30mins... because I couldn't get my hands in all of the tight spaces. Most of the time was spent trying to route the wiring. |

Would that work on a tuber w/ the race ECM? or would it not make any difference than the race ECM....? |

From the Techlusion website:
quote:FI-1045ST TFI Electronic Jetkit for EFI Buell with Stealth Technology (includes wire harness) Buell - All Fuel Injected Models 2000-2005.
So I figure if your buell is from 2000 or later, it will work. Do you have an A/F ratio of your bike to see if you're running lean in certain areas? |

Greeting: Call DAVE at Appletons HD/BUELL if your looking for a TFI module, he's about $20 less than American Sport Bike's web site. (listed price) Cheers.. |
