I purchased my 2003 XB9R with a Jardine can on it. I have to be honest, that thing is way too loud. I have to drive by the homes of two cops in order to get to and from my house. I'm considering either putting on a stock exhaust or getting the silencer. Recommendations???? |

hehe. Well, I don't know if an even trade sounds fair. I've never heard a stock XB, so it's really tough for me to compare. Would a silencer really help at all? |

Naw man, you don't want no stinkin silencer, you want to TRADE LOL!!!! I don't think any insertable baffle is available but you might want to contact Jardine you never know. Or you could just have one fabricated? The drummer really is a little more quiet in respect to volume but has a little more low end grunt. So you may not be better off that way either. I've heard em all (Stock, Drummer, Jardine) and even the stock can sounds impressive at WTFO... The drummer gives the best #'s Still wouldn't mind a trade though... Hint Hint... |

That's the silencer I was looking at. Price is right and if it doesn't work out, it wouldn't be a huge cash loss. |

Stop by and let the officers check out your bike, chances are they will think it sounds cool and not have a problem with it. Heck you might even help them become Buellers! I live 3 houses from the chief of police and have 3 other officers on my street within a block or so, they don't seem to have any problem with our bikes and they are all LOUD. As long as your not at 5000 RPM or riding wheelies down the street you're probably better off then you think. |

Just pull in clutch as you pass their house. Doesn't the Jardine involve some remapping? I'd be hesitant about directly switching back to the stock without knowing if I'd be running the right mixture afterward. |

Good idea. I'm only 5 houses from one of them. I'm not sure about the remapping. I know the dealer said it may have some type of ecm or other tuning done to it. It kind of sucks not knowing much about the bike. The dealer I got it from (about 90 minutes from me) purchased it from a bank who grabbed it as a repo, so the dealer was as in the dark about the bike as I was and it's not like the bank was going to care to ask, "Hey, what have you don't to the bike so we can let potential buyers know about it?" |

The Jardine insert makes the pipe quiet but really cuts power. I'm thinking about opening up the diameter halfway between the quiet insert and the exhaust itself for a better compromise. Anyway the Jardine is WAY LOUD, but with the insert it may even be as quiet as stock on my xb12 (does sound a little like it has a potato in the exhaust though). American Sportbike most likely has some in stock. That's where I got mine. xbolt12 |

XBolt12- No sweat on my part. I'd like the pipe but hey what this board for, helping fellow Buellers out. If your post helps PC out, I am cool with it. My bike will still turn the curves, just not as loud. |

The inserts for mufflers are usually stop-gap measures for passing an EPA test or similar... I have heard of other brands of mufflers running very lean when the insert is used. Check to see if you have the race ECM, locate the ECM and either do a search for the part number here on the XBoard, or ask your dealer to look up the part number on their system for you. If you have the stock ECM, you can use a TFi to smooth out any fueling issues... |
