Anyone have an idea of whats going on here,I noticed a few days ago while idling my header pipe glowing.A few days before that I took out snorkel ,installed Jardine pipe and K+N filter,Well I rode the bike 10 mins at 3200 rpm,checked plugs,alright.SoI Put snorkel back in and rechecked??Well I found it only to be the front header pipe that is glowing?Intake leak??I really dont have any idea where to spray the wd 40 or less of an idea of how to get it(WD) there(to the intake).I really hope I do not have an intake leak.If so Is this something the average person could fix,what I'm trying to say is: Is this an easy thing to do or does it require me to fight with dealer and warranty issues(since I put Jardine and air filter on myself)?Or should that not matter That I put it on?I have all winter to dicker with it so I'm in no rush, but I do not want to have a Glowing front header .If it were both headers I would just get }the techlusion installed and richen her up.Also I'm confused because bike has never run better than now,wouldnt their be some problems if it were an intake leak?If any one has any suggestions,please fill me in.Thanks | ||

Look up between the cylinders. You can see where the intake manifold goes into the head. Spray around where the intake goes into the heads, while the engine is running. If the idle changes, there's a leak. I've heard of red headers when seen in the dark after a ride. I don't think red hot headers nessasarily mean intake leak. Keith just did an intake gasket replacement. Do a search, 'cause he did a nice write up about how he did it without having to rotate the engine. Hope this helps. | ||

i think mine came with a warning label somewhere about the exhaust system being hot during and after vehicle operation. just avoid contact with the hot parts, they will cool down after a few minutes. dont worry too much, all of my motorcycles do that too. | ||

Looks like I got to remove that right side plastic piece to get to the ports.Thanks for all the help.I've done some searches and found out that the "front glowing header" is not that uncommon.I'm still going to check for leak and probably get techlusion before spring. |
