Anyone else run through stuff and stain their Magnesium tone front spoiler? I just discovered a "wet" looking stripe and splash spots on mine and can't seem to get them off with conventional type cleaners. Suggestions anyone? I don't really want to buy another one. |

Solution... Drill out the pop rivets... then put a black one on from an XB9/12R Worked for me. At least they did not put white ones on the XBS. But the magnesium color one is not much better!!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!!!! |

Try a little auto wax (without rubbing compound!), works on mine. |

I cleaned mine for the last time with Simple Green and a Scotch Brite kitchen pad, then painted it with Krylon Satin Black. Now it just wipes clean with a damp rag, and I think it looks a bit nicer on my Yellow XB9S. On a black bike, I might have used a satin grey or silver. |

Gentleman_jon... Did you sand the plastic or use primer? |

Stealth- I did both: sand it down with 180, then 220 sand paper, then prime one coat, and about three or four coats of Krylon Satin, sanding with 220 between coats. Biggest problem I have in painting is waiting enough time between coats- can't wait to see the finished job:-) Sometimes I use a hairdryer to speed the drying. In this case I didn't remove the pop rivets, I just masked off the yellow parts. |

Aldaytona - I tried every cleaner and solvent in the book and couldn't get the stains completely out. I've already replaced the rivets with stainless button heads, so I'll either paint it black or buy the black center piece. Most likely I'll paint it just to get a smoother more cleanable surface. |

Brake dust cleaner will take it right off. Spray it on, let it sit for 1.5 to 2 minutes, rinse it with a hose. If its really dirty you might have to do it 2 or 3 times. |

just paint it black...much easier to deal with, and it always looks clean. |
