Let me check and see. I may have something buried in my garage. |

I found a 04 motor (case/crank/transmission) in my spare parts. I think the only thing wrong with it was a front piston/cylinder/head issue as that was missing on the motor when I got the bike, and I'm pretty sure its less than 10K on the motor. Since you're in CA, I'll make you 2 offers: 1. Drive to Phoenix and I will GIVE you the motor for FREE. 2. I will sell you the drum and shift forks out of said motor for $150+shipping. It will probably take a week or so to do this as I have too many projects going on at the same time in a small garage. (Message edited by 34nineteen on January 13, 2022) |

I have this whole spare transmission ready to go if you don't want to wait on 34nineteen. I'll take the same deal for the whole thing, $150 + shipping. I'm not sure what the mileage is but I don't believe it was very high, doesn't appear to be much wear on any of the items. I can send more pics if needed.

Nevermind, just realized this is for 2006 and up models. Same shift forks, but different drum and gear sets. Not sure if the whole set is interchangable as an assembly or not. |

I looked at a 2004 parts book, a 2006, and a 2007 and shows the same part number for the shift forks. All good though. |

Boom! There’s your shift drum and 3 forks! They’re pretty small so it should fit in a USPS priority medium box.

Buelligan, you may want to reconsider the validity of your parts source. The early forks are quite a bit different than the later ones. The early ones are the smaller ones below. The early ones also have a bearing on the pin that engages the grooves on the drum.

I’m not arguing with you, they look totally different. The validity of my source is HD/Buell themselves, I have the paper copy of the official Buell 2006 Lightning and 2007 Uly parts books and I looked up the parts numbers from a digital copy of the 2004 Lightning parts book and the numbers are the same. It must be a misprint as the book also shows the two very different forks as the same part number as well. |

As you can see, they changed the illustrations but accidentally kept the part number the same as the old 2003-05 transmission and didn't even acknowledge having two different style forks. |

I think that book is wrong. Lol I noticed my service manual has quite a few errors in it, most notably page references (pages that don’t exist). I think the part number changed to an -06 part number for the later ones. I thought I was the only one that still went to HD’s website to look up part numbers. I’ve found that Twins site is much quicker and easier but sometimes they made changes for aftermarket parts, so they don’t always have the old part numbers. |
