So I got sick and tired of the way my bike was running. I had put all of that work into it to make it faster and I did not feel that I was getting the most out of the modifications that I had done. With the knowledge that my weak point was the exhaust system I decided that I would change back from the Force to a stock header and slip-on muffler. Due to the postings on this site and my local Buell site I decided to try the Drummer. I called Kevin at KD Fabrications and talked with him about what I wanted. Kevin told me that he would build me a pipe specifically for my bike and the mods that I had done to it.

Well I got the pipe on and at first the bike didn't want to run, but a simple map change and now the bike runs like a champ. The bottom end is back and the front wheel points to the sky with just a roll-on the throttle in first and second gear. After getting the bike running correctly we tossed it on the dyno. There was less than one horsepower difference from the Force to the Drummer, and that's the custom map on the Force and an X1 map for the Drummer, I think with a custom map on the Drummer I may see a difference with the Drummer coming out on top.

So for those of you out there looking for a good exhaust for your XB, my vote is to go with the Drummer. I'll admit the bike isn't as pretty without the Force, but I didn't buy the pipe for its looks, I bought it for its performance and unfortunately it did not do what I wanted it to.

Do you a programmable ECM? I was under the impression that XB ECM, including the Race ECM, is not programmable (remappable).

I believe the Force setup comes with a PowerCommander and that is what BG is referring to?

Yeah I've been running a PCIII since I first got the Force. It has run pretty good for me and I haven't had any problems with it. Other than no one near me reprograms them.

Buellgator, I see that you have the 1050 NHRS kit. How do you like it? Are the power gains worth the $$$? One day, when I have the extra cash, I'm thinking of adding that kit to my bike. I'm currently running a Drummer, Race ECM and Filter with the XB12 Airbox. I'll probably get the Techlusion some time soon. Do you see any problem with adding the 1050 kit with my current mods? Thanks.

I think the 1050 is well worth the dollar amount. The bike really feels like it has the power of an old tube frame. I realize the torque isn't there, but compared to my '98 S3 I think the XB feels faster. Get the headwork done at the same time though because you're gonna have the heads of anyway you might as well do it.
