My currently bike has an HID low beam installed by the previous owner. The high beam is the original halogen bulb. I am looking to change my headlight setup for a few reasons: 1. Looks weird not having a matching high beam 2. HID Low beam will sometimes flicker (bad ballast?) 3. The reflective material around the bulb looks burnt. I am either thinking of getting a new headlight assembly with the original bulbs and replacing the whole thing. Or I was looking at getting one of these instead https://www.lightningleds.nl/product/1024815/buell -xb-9-12-s-full-led-headlight Anyone have any input on Lightning Leds or other options? Not really looking to do HIDs and messing with the wiring or heat. |

On my 05 XB, the previous owner installed a no-name (that I could find) HID, for both the low and the high beam housings. I bought the bike many years back and REALLY like the lighting. Although the slow speed that the high beam lights up, the high beam "flick" to not so courteous drivers is not not effective, I really do like the way that the system lights the road. I did have to readjust them from the original way that they were adjusted, (I don't like blinding drivers in front of me ), they work great. I wish I could have done something similar to my RX Buell. And after about 29,000 miles, the reflectors are still in good shape. No darkening, no melting. You can't go overboard on the brightness, or they will destroy light housing, and...not be really usable over a slightly lower wattage... Mike |

Quite a few people in the Facebook groups have gotten the Lightning LEDs and seem to like them. I updated my 04 12R to the stock...2006? or 07? lights. They work much better than the originals but LED is definitely the way to go. |
