Hi All, I owned an XB12XT for a while and loved it. It's not perfect, but man is it good! I kinda panicked when Harley said the supply of parts would be cut off and sold it. I've been through a bunch of bikes since and nothing scratches the itch in the same way so, I'm considering returning to Ulysses ownership, but I'm concerned that it might be an impossible thing to own these days. So, can those of you who held on when I bailed tell me what it's like to own one these days? Parts? Accessories? Thoughts? Insults for abandoning the cause? Anything? thanks, -Dave |

I've had my 06 for 6 years and put over 100k miles on it. I have not had any trouble finding parts, the vast majority of what I needed have been easily sourced online through retailers or the kind folks in the group or facebook groups. |

Cupcake_mike, Thanks, the only things I'm really concerned with being able to find are consumables like belts and brake pads - are these still being made or is there just a pile of NOS parts somewhere that's dwindling? Thanks, -Dave |

Should all else fail, you can always turn to Twin Motorcycles (in the Netherlands). Though it would be the more expensive option for an American (shipping, import duties and such). |

I still have my 2008 25th Anniversary Ulysses . . . I've ridden it like once a year for the last couple years and may sell it. But . . what I did was to buy all the Ulysses parts I could . . . there were several folks who went together and bought "Ulysses Survival Kits" from American Sport Bike when they closed. I wanted to be covered, years hence, it once of those fatal (it breaks, the bike is a paperweight) parts went. But . the things seem bulletproof in service. |

Hi, Dave. I've owned my '06 Uly for over 3 years and have had no trouble finding parts: - intake gaskets - brake pads - heated grips w/ factory controls - levers - pedals - fork seals - engine crash gaurd - header I ditched the belt for a chain the first time it snapped (2nd gear pull, common i hear) I don't see ever getting rid of the bike. For the money I'd get selling it, I'd rather to keep it and enjoy.

Ownership these days is like endless wrenching and troubleshooting, unless you don't ride it. (Message edited by TPEHAK on March 23, 2021) |

The parts situation is basically the same as it was when you sold the bike. I've still not had any trouble getting any parts. |

Yes, the parts are still available because of Buells fall apart all the time and OEM suppliers keep making good money on Buell owners. (Message edited by TPEHAK on March 23, 2021) |

Never mind 'Debbie-downer' above. Froggy is right - Nothing has changed. These are pretty simple engines, and still offer the set-it-and-forget-it method of oil changes and checking tire pressures. |

Yeah, the good news is the engine is simple, so no problem fixing it on regular basis. |

Mine has had no problems since I bought it (none) about three years ago. I got an 08 with abt 19K miles on it. I bought a new front rotor and EBR brake hardware kit when I first acquired the bike. Ditched the busted Jardine in favor of stock exhaust, will be sending the EMC to IDS for the stock/race tune for a little better throttle response... I do regular 85-90pmh blitzes to and from work around six months out of the year, racing from time to time with my gf on her Ducati 696. It's been reliable as hell. Oil, filter, brake pads, battery, all the regular consumables are available at AutoZone and O'Reilly's now too, so if anything support is better now... I am looking at an XB9 for a smaller, quicker bike to share with my daughter, can't decide if I'll hang onto the Uly, if she want's to ride with me but not as a passenger it's going to stay with me a while longer. |
