I just installed some chin fairing brackets from Dean Adams so I could finally run a chin fairing with my drummer exhaust. I noticed that the bracket is directly below the oil filter. Can the oil filter be removed with the brackets installed? |

I haven't found a way. Kind of a PIA, but it sounds/looks/works so good, I figure I could deal with it. If you figure out a way, I'd love to know. |

I was afraid of that. I couldn’t find anyone asking or complaining about that before. |

The lack of possibility of removing the oil filter is not the only issues with non stock exhaust. You also are not able to lift the motorcycle using muffler as support. (Message edited by TPEHAK on January 09, 2021) |

The Drummer exhaust has been on the bike for over a decade, but I’m just installing the chin spoiler brackets and chin spoiler now. I went ahead and changed out my 2005 kickstand for a newer on with the different pivot bolt. I had just not noticed until the new chin spoiler brackets were installed how close it was to to the bottom of the filter. I was hoping someone had a workaround. Maybe a shorter filter? |

Honestly, it just becomes part of the routine. Worthwhile trade-off for the sound in my opinion. |

If my holes lined up correctly on the bracket the right side wouldn’t be too bad to put on. I think mine was bent out of spec so it was hard to install. I reached out to Dean. |

Mine was a b*tch too. It matters in what order you put it on. Again, I know it's a PIA, but worth it in my opinion. Once you start 'messing' with anything, it's almost never as easy as stock. Tradeoffs. |

All of the aftermarket chin fairing brackets (jardine, drummer, mine and whoever else makes them) are pretty much made the exact same way. My apologies for your difficulties, but I've probably sold between 175-200 of them and installed at least 15-20 sets here locally at my house. Mine are all cut on a waterjet machine and checked against a master set to verify they're still correct after 5-6 years of making them. I installed a brand new set on an xb9 (2007 model) this morning just to verify once again that they were manufactured correctly. I can supply photos if needed, but the set I tried here went on without a whole lot of fuss. |

I believe that I’m installing correctly. I have to install the front hole on the right side first to get it on at all. It’s just more fuss than I expected. I wasn’t trying to call you out Dean; the brackets look to be very nice quality and are more than sturdy. I have no idea why I’m having fitment issues. I was mostly just asking here if anyone has found a way to remove the filter without removing the bracket. |

Agreed - It's beefy Dean, nicely built. I struggled initially, but figured it out and just rinse/repeat now. I love this pipe, but there is no way that I know of to change the oil without taking the bracket off. |

It was a bit of a pain, but it looks good all mounted up!
